Still need to see more forerunner structures and whether or not they look like actual places that were "lived in" or if they look like video game paths with no other purpose than to be traversed by the player.

Technically, they wouldn't be lived in because every Forerunner location we've ever explored in Halo has been either an engineering facility, or a military installation.

So they wouldn't really have been lived in.

A fair point, but they still didn't look like something anyone would use for well... anything. The only function they seemed to have was making floaty things float and blind you with lens flare. Occasionally you would have a needlessly convoluted control panel which required you to push a bunch of different buttons far away from each other to pull up a map or warp somewhere. There wasn't anything to indicate what these places were FOR. And shield world's were supposed to be homes away from the flood and Halo Array. So the fact that absolutely nothing looked like... well any kind of living space is very odd.

Interestingly I think previous Halo games got away with it more since you rarely were doing any of the actual button pushing. That was usually done by the AI like Cortana or Guilty Spark which made it feel more justified as something that wasn't necessarily meant for non robot peoples.

Let it go, still posting on GAF while championing a new site just makes you look extremely stupid. Calling out mods and all of that other dumb shit is only hurting the community there who decides to stay there, and makes it harder for them to have a community again.

There's no indication of anything Forerunner structures are supposed to do in Halo games. We've always just accepted their blind function and moved on (for good or bad). The only time we've known how something works or what it does is when we've been explicitly told by a character or by 343i/Bungie.

There's a quote Guilty Spark says on Halo 3's Ark that really fits well with all Forerunner stuff we've encountered.

Please, use caution; avoid collateral damage! While this facility appears quite durable on the surface, no doubt, there are delicate facilities below the façade.

Quite a bit of the button pressing is explained in Halo 4 as to why you're doing what you're doing. Generally the buttons are for basic stuff, like bridges, gondolas and doors. The more complicated instances usually have explanations. Like the Localized Cartographer. Data stops flowing to the Cartographer, so you have to go and manually reinitialize the ferroelectric data fields to get the map back online.

While you are correct that Shield Worlds certainly were outfitted to provide shelter to the surrounding Forerunners from the Flood, we only visited an incredibly small portion of Requiem. Any kind of living quarters would probably be further in Requiem's shells, rather than towards the surface. If you think about where we went on Requiem, we visited sites of either a purely utilitarian or military nature. (Cartographer, Portal Hub, the Didact's makeshift prison, artillery control room/bunker, administrative and security towers).

Don't get me wrong though, I'm all for implied function, I just don't feel the lack of it for Forerunner tech is too much of an issue.

Anyway, looks like the panel's starting so I'ma tune in for details. =)

I'm guessing it's gonna be Buck's Pistol and a REQ Card, kind of like Linda's Sniper, Kelly's Shotgun, or Arbiter's Energy Sword (Prophet's Bane). The Assault Rifle is probably gonna be saved for the Chief, so maybe they're trying to replicate the stats of the ODST Pistol.

I'm not going to champion a new site while on GAF, but it's still a bit ridiculous.

Not hard to ban a few people and let the OT keep going. It was a lazy/dumb decision, they deserved to be questioned/pushed on it a tiny bit. (I PMed people, I wouldn't call people out individually).

Hopefully Ghaleon gets back to me soon, seems like a nice guy.
