Ugh, That is the worst.
Who at Bungie thought the Halo 3 pistol was a good idea? How did it make past testing? It's literally terrible.
Halo 5 pistol on the other hand.....godly.
Had an absolute blast last night guys. I hope we can do it again soon.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching that footage with ya Fatstro. Dat Hunter gameplay. So goooood.

The kraken really does look way more like the scripted halo 2 scarab rather than the dynamic scarab battles of halo 3. Hopefully this is because the kraken is a set piece, cinematic battle, and scripting is the best way to pull that off and isn't representatitive of other massively epic battles that hopefully halo 5 contains. In other words, despite the kraken clearly being geared more for cinematic purposes, I hope we see fully dynamic ai driven large scale scarab or scarab like battles in halo 5.

In one of the videos released around E3, you see one on Kamchatka.
Anyway, I'm pretty confident in saying that this is gonna be my favorite Halo. Especially since Enemy Lines is ONLY Mission 11. Like, holy shit, there's gotta be 20-25 missions in this game.
So is there really no blood in Halo 5 this time around?
I really don't understand the complaints with it. I feel like so many people act like Halo 3's Scarab encounters were mindblowing. They were fun, but they weren't THAT much better than Halo 2's. In fact I liked Halo 2's more because they had a more interesting interior. They weren't a Zelda boss where you shoot at their exposed weak point.
I honestly prefer the scale and layout that the Kraken has. Looks like more varied in the ways you can approach it which translates into a better co-op experience as well.

Does anyone else have issues with the Mongoose Rocket Launcher Marines blowing you up during the Scarab battle on The Storm in Halo 3? It happens at least once on all of my playthroughs, lol. I honestly kind of hate Scarab battles. They were cool and exciting the first time (except for the one on The Storm, I've always hated that one), but now they just feel like a pain in the ass. The ambition was good, but I don't think Bungie pulled them off especially well.

I think the problem with the Scarabs was once you figured out you could just hit them in the joints, the Scarab was effectively not a threat anymore. The only danger comes from trying to board them via the turret in the back, or enemies taking potshots at you from elsewhere while the Scarab dances around in circles ineffectively trying to get at you. And, as you said, sometimes the marines will kill you instead.
(Was really sad I was slow on the ball and didn’t have my Xbox record I think my most bizarre campaign fail on The Ark though—the Scarab stepped on my Scorpion and set it flying up to where you initially enter the valley. Was like a campaign version of Rocket Hog Race.)
Marines blowing you up with a rocket is just one of the ways the game makes the battle more dynamic :p
This Kraken thing though just sits there and seems like a piece of the environment. It doesn't do anything. You kill some guys, get on it, destroy its glowing energy ball and then gtfo. It just doesn't seem nearly as cool as ramping a watthog onto aa Scarab or jumping down from a Hornet drop off with a friend.

Even going back and playing it now it is just so fun how many different ways there are to try and board it. Getting on that thing was a game itself and the weak point took time to get to unless you managed to blow off the back (you could do that right?).

"dynamic scarab encounters"

There is, seen it in multiple videos.
Yet another casualty of the hype/concern train.
Edit: stop rectonning the glory that was Halo 3 scarab battles. They fucking rocked. Kraken looks good, but yes, I hope we get some more 'mobile' motherfuckers to down too.

I'll unload multiple rockets on'em, and nothing. Then I'll be left pinging it with BR fire, lol. It's so boring. I much prefer the battles where you're able to board them from above via Hornet / grav lift / going off a ramp on a Mongoose, lol.

I feel like all of the uncs maps are too sterile and boring. Not art design but layout. We don't get very many non human Arena maps. Im sick of human maps. Give me sanghelios or delta Halo old forerunner style maps.

I get the feeling Warzone maps, which are already designed with AI in mind, would suit this. That + rare req packs etc...?
Could even do an invasion type mode vs checkpoints of AI, or a Horde mode that required players to range over the map for supplies and objectives whilst defending a core.
Hire me, 343.

I'm really looking forward to the less serious Warzone style. Will be a nice break after marathoning arena constantly.

Call me crazy but I'm good on the campaign teasers until release. I want to see Forge (of course) but also new Warzone gameplay on a map that isn't Escape from ARC. New multiplayer gameplay in general would be great, I'm tired of watching the same beta gameplays over and over. I suppose we have to wait till Friday for new multiplayer stuff though, at least if Game Informer is anything to go by.

Some of those look great though, others not so much.

As far as I'm concerned a Halo game has to have zero flood in it as a pre-requisite for being considered for the title of best Halo of all time. I don't enjoy fighting the Flood.
I'm sure they would look cool as hell with Xbox One-level graphics though.

I will only feel happy/sad about the AI once I'm playing Heroic or above on a retail version. It didn't look great in some of those videos - the Prometheans looked a sight better than the Covies, though. Which is weird.
