By CRIMSONxSERAPH Go To PostI'm going to state it here, I'm one of the 40% who believes in that "nonsense". I'd appreciate it if you were slightly less aggressive towards its merit (or even, in your eyes, lack thereof). This is a Halo thread, not a theological thread.I'm sorry, but until you can actually show the truth (or literally any evidence whatsoever) of creationism, or a biblical flood, it is by definition, nonsense. Being proud of believing something doesn't somehow make it immune from criticism or any more or less nonsensical.
I don't show the Flat Earth Society's beliefs any respect either. Sorry bud.
I love you guys. Let's keep running customs and enjoy eachother as people. Let's just forget about the last 2 pages lol

While it sucks, I don't have TOO huge a problem with it. It changes the meta up a bit, and even though my first reaction was disgust, I kind of like (?) it. You can use grenades as a way to check for campers, and I found it saving my life on Truth and storming Pink Tower.
So actually it doesn't suck in my opinion. I'm ambivalent towards it.

Lttp on that CTF post, so I'll respond to that if ya'll done measuring dicks
I like the concept of the "tagging" system, if you see the flag runner and shoot him, a little NAV point shows up for a few moments. Gears of War 3 something similar where if you push down the left stick, you tag enemy locations. 90% of team communication in Halo is pointing out where enemies are for team shoot, so I was hoping they do a system like this.
The fun part is that it still allows the flag runner to be sneaky, or to hide the flag for those classic stand-offs. If you can somehow sneak back to base without the other team spotting you, using your map knowledge and skill to maneuver around enemy hot spots, then that's viable. However, you run at 80% movement speed, so you can do it even faster by flag juggling. That's a skillful thing, including passing it along to other players, but it comes at a price of the other team knowing exactly where the flag is with all those drops.
I think that's gonna be a really fun balance, on top of utilizing your abilities for extended runs, as we saw in that Gamescom demo.
edit: 343 gon do grenade hitmarkers forever. CoD has it, so we should have it, too. Not enough to have a big fuckin' motion tracker in the corner for you stare at, you gotta know about dudes hiding around corners and shit too.

I'd prefer a previous system of maybe audible cues when grenades hit someone (Reach comes to mind). This way, your grenade spamming is only rewarded if you're actually paying attention. But both systems still encourage grenade spamming, so I don't know if I can ever support either of them fully.

YourExWife, feel free to move the discussion to a proper thread or another thread that's already established like the Politics thread: http://slaent.com/thread/1767/Out of curiosity, how off topic are we allowed to get here? And everyone, try not to insult each other. That means you, guybones.
I say no to motion tracker especially since we have Spartan chatter callouts now. And the aforementioned tagging system.
By -Ryn Go To PostOut of curiosity, how off topic are we allowed to get here? It being a thread for the community (or at least that's my understanding) and not simply a thread for Halo makes it a bit vague.I always make this analogy with regards to community threads:
If you and your friends were to hang out on a random Sunday to watch a sporting event (say, the Super Bowl), you will not talk 100% of the time about the Super Bowl or Football. You will talk about whatever the hell you feel like as long as it contributes to a positive atmosphere. With that in mind, nobody likes that friend that becomes drunk, belligerent, and causes drama. Don't be that friend.
You guys are here because of a like-minded interest in Halo, but that's not the only interest you have in common.
The only reason I shut YourExWife down and asked them to move the discussion elsewhere is because it was going down the path where it was souring the thread.
In that sense, you guys are free to self-police (much like with the NSFW bit earlier) and tell others to go take their discussion somewhere more appropriate.
By ViewtifulJC Go To PostLttp on that CTF post, so I'll respond to that if ya'll done measuring dicksYup, I'm totally down with the CTF changes. The tagging system sounds great, actually. The only thing I'm bummed about is flag melee not being one hit kill anymore, but that's not a big deal.

Been the biggest complaint I had since H2A. At higher level play, those nade hitmarkers become an element of pure cheeze.
Yeah I'm gonna miss the instant flag melee kills, plus they nerfed the flagnum so its not GOAT anymore. Gonna encourage some teamwork and participation, or flag juggling/dropping to pull out your more powerful weapons
My stance on hit markers has totally softened. I kind of like them now, actually. When watching the Gamescom Invitational I found it interesting to see players toss grenades around corners to check for threats, and to then see how they reacted if they actually did get hit markers. It gave them an added tool to augment their situational awareness, but not in a way that feels overly cheap. *shrug*

I love the push/pull stand offs that arise from that.
Here's a question: does anyone here play League of Legends?
RE: hitmarkers, I think that like many things 343 puts into Halo, the negative reaction towards them is overblown. I can respect the argument that knowing when your grenade hit someone does change the game slightly, but I think it's a positive change. People expect hitmarkers in their shooters now and I really don't think there's anything inherently wrong with them.
That said, if I could trade hitmarkers away to get the bro celebrations back at the end of matches, I would do it in an instant. What little post-beta gameplay we've seen shows very clinical and emotionless end-of-game Spartans and it makes me sad. The original animations were awesome and befitting of teams practicing their skills in a War Games simulation. They are Spartan brothers, so why not behave like it?

All of my yes right there.
CTF needs those rule sets. Being able to score when your flag is gone just makes for overly aggressive and boring games. There is hardly any risks involved.
Often times grabbing the enemy flag just to toss it away buys your team enough time to recover your flag. It balances the chaos.

Yeah for sure. Hoping that we are allowed to do BTB in custom games. I'm sure some of the boss forgers in our community could whip up a good map pretty fast.

I'm sick of the "other games have this fps mechanic so its okay for Halo". It's bullshit and makes the industry stagnant.
Agree with Kittens, I think hit markers helps counter crouch walking and camping in games with radar especially. In competitive play, it just deters playing passively. Change it to one grenade at start. That'd be an interesting balance, use it for situational awareness or pure offense.
And agree with everyone saying yes to flag at home to score. It made Halo 3 and 2 matches way more intense.

Me too. It can't be all out offense, rushing with power weapons and shit to see who can cap 3 flags first. You need some swing plays to push the defense, you have to protect your own, or you have to go out and find the guy who took your flag before you cap there's. Its a bit more dynamic, and it shows a more dominant team. Like "yeah we got your shit and you couldn't get ours, hold dat L"

Fuck do we need some Halo.
I'm gonna try and forge a mountain climbing game similar to duck hunt for Halo 5 now that we have Clamber. Its funny because I absolutely hated the idea for clamber when it first was revealed, but I think it adds a lot to the game.
Just got the chance to listen to the new series. I hope they don't let this thing die when the game arrives. I would really like to see it continue post launch.
