Well, I haven't dug into the new grimoire I've unlocked yet- usually don't do that until I've spent a considerable amount of time on getting as many hidden ghosts and completing missions, etc.
However (mild spoilers ahead)-
One mission takes us back to Crota's End to do some things and you run into the Deathsingers and can actually listen to them singing over the casket of Crota. It's really damn cool and creepy all the same.
Another mission takes us back into Vault of Glass and we get a lot of information on what happened to Praedyth down there. I haven't played that one yet but I'm greatly looking forward to it.
Mara Sov and her brother are both MIA following the Awoken's assault on the Dreadnought, and there may be a hidden player (because of course there is) behind what Eris Morn is up to, ultimately.
We get some more background on Ghost and his journey prior to when he wakes up your Guardian.
Toland's journal plays a role in a couple missions.
We find that Ikora, Cayde and Savala aren't exactly the most amicable of leaders and have their own ideas on how to best protect earth. They aren't just vendor npcs anymore.
We learn more about the worms that the Hive and the Psion's both rely on for their powers and survivability, and there's a developing lore tangent that has begun to dig into why the Cabal and the Hive have been at war for so long.
Trying to give you broad strokes without going into detail. And this is all stuff you learn while playing the game. The grimoire is probably far denser. But man... It's a stark difference in story telling in TTK as opposed to the base game. House of Wolves was a step in the right direction. TTK is a leap forward.
Ends dont justify the means for Spartan 2's?!
You do realize there wouldnt be a human race left to judge that decision if the S-II's werent trained right?

nillas theme = best, confirmed.
isn't ragnarok the guy who wants the game delayed so it can have BTB right out of the box?
but yet he thinks the game should be gold by now?
if you're going to shitpost rag, at least do it with some consistency. also, please become a game developer, you clearly know exactly how everything works and how long everything should take and how easy and fast it is to find and fix every potential bug.

Stop it. They didn't know the Covenant existed when the Spartan project was started.
(Unless those Assembly data pads in Halo Reach are to be believed.)

Hindsight is 20/20. Her actions were definitely far from justifiable on moral or ethical levels. Ended up being damned convenient that an external threat inadvertently presented itself.
And even if the data pads are canon, she still chose to do what she did. ONI still enabled the program and kept it under wraps until they could turn Halsey into a scapegoat to protect their own asses.
Also:
Really digging this cover art.
By Wesleyshark Go To PostDaedalius… Don't click if you haven't beaten the main quest line yet (but come back to this once you do):
How about the mission that took us back into Crota's End??? Fucking sweet. I played that with a buddy of mine and we were both so jazzed the entire time haha. Creepy as hell, but really fun.
And for a FPS… The Oryx boss fight was actually really good. Challenging, and not a bullet sponge. I was impressed.
Yea that quest was pretty rad, was kind of hoping you'd be able to go from the beginning of the whole abyss... but I see why they didn't.
Boss fight was fun, I am looking forward to doing it on "hard" since when me and my wife tried it, even at 40 and like a little over 200 light, we were getting like 1 shotted by boomers and stuff. Had to do it on normal.
I spoiled the whole book of sorrows in the grimoire for myself, and holy shit. Makes you look at the Hive and the Traveler quite differently! I want a Destiny novel about the pre-hive.
I really walked out of the Oryx fight impressed. TTK has quite a number of boss fights and so far, the ones I've done, we're massively improved over previous bosses.
This discussion and debate about Halsey's actions is exactly what 343i wanted.
My stance on the situation though is that it's lose-lose. Spartans were the only sure-fire way to win the war but they are created through crimes against humanity. If you preserve your morality, then humanity lose the war. No of course, what makes it even more interesting is the fact that the Spartans were created completely independent from the Covenant. It's literally impossible to say if what she did was ethical or unethical. It is grey incarnate.
The question I've been pondering recently is this: Standard ethical reasoning dictates the Spartan-II program is completely immoral, but if they weren't created humanity would be extinct. Does this situation make the immoral, moral, in this instance if there was no other way humanity could have survived?

pax south must not be on the level of the other paxes since I don't hear anything about it compared to pax prime or pax east.
Uh oh Nathan Fillion just said "This just came from the eggheads in the lab" during a patrol mission in Destiny. Do we need to submit a complaint about discriminatory remarks in sci-fi settings?
By Lord of Admirals Go To PostThis discussion and debate about Halsey's actions is exactly what 343i wanted.I've always felt that "situation ethics" are crummy ways to justify things. To use the example at hand as, well, an example:

If the immoral act of inhumanely kidnapping, brainwashing, experimenting on, and training these children is somehow considered moral simply because it ended up (conveniently) being the method by which the humans were preserved, then the question to answer is what actually would dictate true immorality.
If doing this to 150 children could be somehow excused because of situation, then what about 300? Or 600? Or 6000? Or an entire colony's children? Or an entire system's? What if, to save all humanity's existence, it took doing the unthinkable to every living human child? Would that grant some kind of moral excuse to the horrors committed?
My point is that once you start excusing the evil because of its "good" repurcussions (whether convenient or purposed), then where do you stop? There is no logical answer to this. Any number you come up with, I could ask if one more child could be sacrificed, and logically it couldn't be denied. Really, to stand with situation ethics would seem to indicate that you'd be willing to go to any lengths, no matter how horrid, not because it was logically and objectively sound, but because it solved the issue you subjectively deemed worth the price.
But hey, what do I know? I'm just a Halo fan.

Hey Derp, when I say the game should be gold already its because they are hold so much stuff from launch so it shouldn't be hard to release campaign and their Whale simulator.
Also I would want any game that is removing A staple such as Big team to delay until it is feature complete.
It's bullshit honestly that the big team community is getting shafted out of a balanced experience in favor of warzone and we also know fuck all about forge,
Is it bad that I want the damn game to be feature complete with shit that the game 7-8 years ago launched with instead of having it come later?

it's not bullshit that we know F all about forge. if people want halo 5 for forge, they can wait for them to explain how it works. nobody forces them to preorder the game.
i'm not saying halo 5 shouldn't be feature complete but to delay it for one feature is silly. we had this conversation a while back so I'd rather not have it again but I think the only people who want an entire game to be delayed just for one feature that only part (although a decent part) of the players will use frequently, are the kinds of people who are overly attached to the traditional release method for games. we don't live in 2007 anymore, content patches are easier to send out and preventing people from enjoying campaign, all other modes of arena, and yes, warzone, is just silly to me. you're right to be skeptical about how long it will take 343 to implement big team battle but that's still no justification.

Good shit. A shame the complexity and emotion isn't conveyed in the story itself. In fact, I feel like it's almost an insult that a game with this much depth to it is marketed as just:
SATAN'S ANGRY CAUSE YOU KILLED HIS SON. NOW GET READY FOR THE MATCH OF THE CENTURY.
I'm also now convinced that the Traveler is a being void of morality considering it indirectly lead to the creation of the Hive and hundreds of trillions of dead. Also, the Darkness is a bunch of parasitic symbiotic worms.

Cheers. I started a week and a half ago and if I can say anything positive about it, it's that it makes the days go by faster. Which is good when you have 40 to get through before the (hopefully) game of the century comes out.

By Ragnarok Flames Go To PostForge news won't come until after release.wut
I would be very surprised if forge came after launch, you think they would have said something by now if that were the case, especially since they already gave a heads up about BTB. If it does come late, I'll selfishly get more entertainment out of the resulting shit show than I would out of having forge on launch. I don't mess with forge stuff until I need a break from everything else...and that usually takes a hell of a long time with Halo.
