Seriously, search for news, anywhere, any search engine, any site. Halo 5 news dominates. Though it probably is due to the fact that there really hasn't been a patch/software update/ANYTHING in over three and a half months, thus supporting the claim.
Proper research and public/official statements clearly state that the MCC has an entirely separate team from the Halo 5 team dedicated to continually supporting it even after Halo 5 launches.
Plus, the dev team doesn't really have much control over the marketing campaign to begin with. Why would you market a game that's nearly a year old anyway? Or why would you stunt Halo 5 by shunting support to an old game that already has dedicated support?
Many of you might not even remember, but 343i put a finished game on hold for several months until the MCC was in a playable state for most players.
My post was mostly in jest. Video games are srsbznss, here.
They haven't abandoned the MCC. They've been working on it and are continuing to work on it. But as Admirals said, there's two different teams and of course halo 5 is going to hog all the media spotlight. It comes out in less than two months.

Oh boy. As for the internet being "skewed", answer this: Why do the Aliens/Illuminati/Matrix find is so important to "skew" the entire internet into thinking there hasn't been a "patch/software update/ANYTHING" in months?
But the lack of updates after that "the latest CU is in testing" some a month ago isn't really helping.
The game hasn't been abandoned. We're still getting playlist updates and the next title update is being worked on.
So I got a response from Josh on the control scheme issue. Not quite what I was looking for but at least he responded. Wish he would have checked out my reddit post as it had some good solutions. Anyway here is what he said...
Can't put it on left thumbstick because that conflicts w/ crouch jump. I'll pass on to the team but we have people that play recon and use this layout without issues.
August 21st was when they last talked about the upcoming updates in detail.

By Wesleyshark Go To PostI really wish X company would stop trying to market their brand new game and instead focus on an older title that's comprised of five previous titles and that also works quite well now, and will surely see a large reduction in player base once said new title comes out.So because the game is older and they blew the launch and onward, resulting in a very low player base, and because they have a new product to promote, it's acceptable for them to provide lousy support for a much hyped full price title that still doesn't deliver on promises from before and during launch? Seriously?
People purchased a product which did not, and in some cases still does not, deliver on the promises and marketing made by the developer. A product which was shipped incomplete and broken. Those same consumers were left without an avenue in the form of return or recall to refund their purchase, which is the standard means of arbitration when a product is broken.
As such, the consumers were wronged, and the onus for righting that is on the party which delivered the defective product (343). An optional recall/refund program would have been the appropriate response, but either 343, Microsoft, or both were unwilling to accept the financial burden and instead decided to let the consumer bear the burden. Given that, the owe the consumer their dedication and effective resolution of the problems, and that simply hasn't been done - as reflected by the game still having issues nearly a year later.
By Lord of Admirals Go To PostProper research and public/official statements clearly state that the MCC has an entirely separate team from the Halo 5 team dedicated to continually supporting it even after Halo 5 launches."Public/official statements" from 343 have often been shown to be misleading, half-truths, false, or flat-out lies. So to cite it as if it's some sort of absolute truth is absurd.
The "dedicated team" has thus far consistent of multiple outsourced parties trying to patch things together. Including Splash Damage, a company which it would seem wasn't involved with the development of the game to begin with. 343 has been unwilling to dedicate their own resources to the problem. As we can see, that approach has been less than ideal.
By Lord of Admirals Go To PostSignificant time between updates =/= support of the game has stopped. It may not be entirely stopped, but the ineffectiveness of the response and the time frame for doing so (especially with the impending Halo 5 release) has made the product effectively abandoned. Yes, they make a couple playlist changes here and there, but on a whole they've done a pretty terrible job of managing them. Map weighting is still awful, for one - anyone want to go play some Team Ghost Town, I mean Halo 3? Game types and map variants are still incorrect.
By Wesleyshark Go To PostAugust 21st was when they last talked about the upcoming updates in detail. All that's in there for details is some playlist-related stuff. Granted, it's all a step forward, but there's no details about the many other issues plaguing the game. And as always, there's the same vagueness and party lines are present without actual time frames and technical details. That's very little content after three months of nothing.

They mention adjustments to map weighting in that link, btw. It's being worked on.

I might be wrong but from where I stand, this is the reality of the situation.
These arguments about the state of MCC happen because the MCC functions (or rather doesn't function) based on many different factors, including your location, your internet connection speed, and more. I live in the US and the MCC works fine for me, but for people living in Europe or Australia or some other place on the planet, it's much more problematic. Australian MCC players have it the worst, US players have it the best.
Just because I don't have many issues with the game doesn't mean I should write off the people who do and 343-police them. Technically speaking, the MCC is fundamentally finicky and broken, but let's not pretend 343 never tried to do what they could to fix it. Some of its code is in Russian (because of Saber Interactive). When the game came out in its atrocious original form, 343 was patching the hell out of it well through Christmas. I wouldn't be surprised if some of 343 worked through their Christmas vacation trying to push a patch for it.
Fast forward to now. The game works but only if you live in certain countries. I have no idea why that is, but what I will say is that short of DICE's work tuning up Battlefield 4, 343 has gone beyond many developers in terms of the time and resources they have spent in the past year doing what they can to make a fundamentally broken HD collection work as it was intended to. At this point, I think it's fairly clear that for the MCC to work for everyone 100%, they would have to basically remake the entire game. This would take an astronomical amount of 343's resources, and unfortunately it just isn't going to happen. BDobbinsFTW can go on YouTube and rant about how it needs to happen and how 343 needs to give everyone a refund, but that won't happen. I agree that it should, but it won't. Your best bet is some REQ pack compensation for MCC owners who play Halo 5.
If the big shitty cloud that is MCC has a silver lining, it is that it was a wake-up call for many gamers that you shouldn't pre-order videogames, not even from developers you think are trustworthy. 343 should have just made Halo 2 Anniversary and used the resources spent adding the other Halos to MCC to make at least 10 remastered maps for H2A multiplayer instead of taking on a huge challenge they couldn't handle and soiling their company's name for life. They aren't going to remake MCC all over again, so I imagine they believe their best bet is try to make Halo 5 as good as possible and work as flawlessly as possible for its launch in October.

Well what's funny is that same logic can be applied to melee. Don't want to accidentally GP when you are trying to melee.
Speaking of ground pound, I hope they adjust the radius. If I see I'm about to get hit I should have some recourse. If I am completely unaware, fine you got me, but if I see what's about to happening thrust away and still get killed by splash damage I'm calling foul.

I have a bad knee. It has arthritis and a torn meniscus. It will flare up and I have to go beg from a doctor some pain meds and/or some FMLA time. I get flak of course, and all the "you should" comments don't help. In fact, I agree with them and state "oh yes, your self-righteousness has cured my knee". Of course, my knee with or w/out my best efforts will hurt because w/out surgery arthritis and a torn meniscus don't heal.
The MCC is a cluster fuck for me. I can't join friends in custom games, they can't join mine if they are in progress. I can't turn the volume down so that I can hear my party. It took forever to get into one game, ONE game this morning, Assembly in the Halo 3 playlist. It was janky and laggy as hell. In fact, I found it amusing that one of my teammate's chosen 3 digit tag was "LAG".
It took forever, but I downloaded the massive Destiny 2.0 update. Destiny has always run smooth as butter for me. I easily checked out all the new Tower changes, got a new weapon from the weapons master, and got invited to join a mission. I easily joined the mission, and so did a third party after he left, changed his character, and rejoined the mission. I hate Bungie for what they did to Marty, and the big vague storyline is laughable, but the game, the game itself...it's so slick and professional and addicting, a true AAA experience for me.
Halo MCC is just feeling like a rinky-dink experience with spit and duck-tape and excuses. All the admonitions on this and other messageboards...well, guys, you told me! You are right and I am wrong. Your self righteousness has fixed my MCC, I'm in a custom game right now with a full freinds list, and we loaded up that H2 anniversary forged map from Awash with no lighting problems! No lag! It's a fucking miracle!
Really.
Admonish me again with your righteousness and attitude. I'm still stuck with a game that is not near the experience I was promised.

By dwells Go To Post"Public/official statements" from 343 have often been shown to be misleading, half-truths, false, or flat-out lies. So to cite it as if it's some sort of absolute truth is absurd.Again, where are the sources for this? And where are the sources that show that fan-theories on the MCC's state are accurate if they are clearly created out of bias and don't/can't include details that we just are unable to get access to.
The "dedicated team" has thus far consistent of multiple outsourced parties trying to patch things together. Including Splash Damage, a company which it would seem wasn't involved with the development of the game to begin with. 343 has been unwilling to dedicate their own resources to the problem. As we can see, that approach has been less than ideal.A dedicated team is a dedicated team regardless of who/what that team is.
I would also like a source for "multiple outsourced parties" being the ones to patch the game. The only source available for us regarding Splash Damage's work on the MCC is entirely ambiguous in its nature. Did they create the patch? Or did 343i send it off to them for bug-squashing and external feedback? Did a certain part of the updated need to be outsourced to get the update out on time? etc.
Where is the source for 343i unwilling to dedicate their own resources on the game?
Most of what I see are just assumptions born out of bias.
You can keep believing what you're saying, even if it has little factual basis other than the game clearly not working as intended and us having a list of what companies have worked on the game courtesy of the MCC's credits. Ultimately, you'll probably continually be disgruntled and simply stop playing or caring about Halo. Of course, that's an assumption born out of insufficient knowledge and my own preconceptions; bias.

I play Halo 4 and Halo 2 Anniversary only these days so all my issues with the game are inconsequential. Halo 2 for whatever reason doesnt captivate me like it did back in 2004. BTB maps are still the best in the franchise tho. But I can understand the frustration for people who still enjoy playing Halo 1 and the glacial Halo 3
My friends & I put together a large word pad with tons of links about Halo's epic universal story. If you or anyone you know is sketchy about any parts of the story this is a pretty good reference. All the info in the links are videos or audio so its pretty easy to digest. Just recently updated it today with Halo Canon's primer series for halo 5 talking about blue team & its individual members (・ω・)

Isn't the dedicated team working on MCC 343? They have a Halo 5 team and a MCC team. Splash Damage, Saber, and United Front all left after MCC came out.

Sorry we had a 4v4 going last night, next customs I'll invite away. If only to enjoy some more lag :)
I/we can get games and can play customs but it's not consistent and you're right it's not the experience promised to us. Not by a long shot. Sure they worked hard and have made large strides to correct things but it's still a hit and miss affair with crippling quitters, no customs JiP, party chat/lobby/search crashes and shit even the upload a recorded video doesn't even always get every video you record (even when it says clip uploaded). I've posted a number of times I feel the X1 has to shoulder a large chunk of the blame, we had the same party chat/crashes with Destiny or Killer Instinct solo and in medium sized parties too. It wasn't just MCC matchmaking unfortunately. Destiny was a shit show in Aus when it launched. It's a greatly enjoyable experience now being a consistent and reliable game for months post launch.
At the end of the day I'm waiting to see what the Windows 10 X1 dashboard and MCC bring. I'm past it for now as I know I'll drop MCC multiplayer for H5 and my son/I will occasionally replay campaigns. Campaigns have been solid and H2A was executed with love and care but coop being P2P was a waste of time, again. Considering what could have been with MCC they could have sold in the region of 10mil by now IMO. Had matchmaking let you choose what to play, had it all been dedis for multiplayer/coop, and that glossed over marketing version from the stage presentation, it would have moved a shit-ton more X1s and friends of friends would have returned to play with the viral marketing word of mouth Halo used to be famous for. In reality MCC has fizzled into the background in lieu of H5 being the redemption.
Thank fuck H5 is all dedis all the time in all modes. Thank fuck it's looking and playing so great. Azure, Xbox One platform/OS and H5 really need to align their features and reliability into a consistent gaming platform that I don't cross my fingers during every game session with my friends. MCC is currently that walk on egg-shells feeling amongst our party chat. Destiny does not have that feeling anymore and I hope H5 never even has that in the back of our minds when loading it up to play that gorgeous gameplay.
I personally think they're trying to build community good will back up with Halo 5, as a whole; not just the department handling Halo 5.
I think they're all well aware of the chucklefuck that MCC is. That said it doesn't make MCC irrelevant either, but we should really stop with the lynch mob bursts of outrage anytime someone praises 343 and on the flip side stop pretending MCC is working as intended.
Now if we want 343 to continue listening to crazed yahoos such as ourselves we need to come to terms with events past and gone and pave the road forward so junk like this doesn't happen again.
I don't wanna be 50 when the Halo: X-2 HD Collectors Saga Remix comes out and Ragnarok is still salt posting about the game not launching and freezes his XYZ-Station/Q
