Really liking Phantom Pain, though Eastern developers are pretty bad at crafting interesting worlds to explore, luckily the gameplay mechanics are top notch here.

I don't see it NOT happening, Forge still hasn't been so much as mentioned in passing and we're less than 2 months away? We've seen more Campaign cutscenes than we've seen Forge so far and that's weird.

That's the torch that they were passed. Keeping the look of the characters, species, and anything else isn't "copying" the designs. It's carrying them on. It's doing your job right. That's not to say you can't introduce new designs along with the old ones, but changing everything so people know that it's YOUR Halo is bad fanfiction levels of change because (at least for me) the excitement wasn't because I get to play 343's take on Halo. The excitement was that we would get to play more of Halo. So why would you try and distance yourself from that instead of taking it and adding your own ideas along with what was already there?
I'm glad 343 decided to make their own designs for Elites and Jackals and all the other enemies. When I first played Halo 4, the new designs helped solidify that feeling that "yes, this is a start of a new era in the Halo franchise. the game plays differently, looks differently, and is heading in an entirely new direction."
If 343 just tried to copy point-for-point Bungie's designs, any inconsistencies between Bungie's originals and their copies would be glaring to us.

The Covenant isn't the same as it used to be, and their leadership is thinning. It's probably gotten harder for them to acquire full, state-of-the-art armor sets as a result.Politics don't generally drastically change the anatomy of the species involved. The Elites having armor is whatever. The Jackals turning from an avian species into the bastard children of American Godzilla and the fantasies of a deep sea fetishist is not what I'd call "fitting". Something similar to how the Skirmishers were handled however would be more than welcome.

They have no reason to use them. I mean, if they show up in Halo 5, cool! If not, no sweat. Those species probably were more inclined to go along with the Human-Covenant peace accords anyway, while this other species wanted nothing to do with it. From a lore perspective, which is what drives the core of Halo, it makes sense.

Like Rags said, the issue is that they replaced an already unique bunch of designs that had their own character with a far more generic and homogenized look for the sake of making it "scurreh" and "dark". I don't particularly hate the design itself. I hate the design as an unnecessary replacement. I remember seeing the Skirmishers in Reach and thinking "Holy shit those things look awesome! I can't wait to fight them and the Jackal!" When Halo 4 revealed the Jackals I was thinking "Those are just a variant of the original Jackal right? Right??" They were not.

Cool. I love seeing old builds. You can see that the stories were true. The framerate was pretty awful till the last second stories said. That being a later build you can see the framerate in the teens easily.

It almost seems like black magic that a feature that causes such huge framerate drops can be altered in a way that a viewer/player doesn't notice anything different other than the improved performance.
