I know there's this one website that has this fantastic reviewing system. It's in two segments: Gameplay and Opinion, each with their own score. They don't mix together so you can state your personal opinion along with your own personal score without overshadowing the score in the Gameplay segment.

Some people would rate Halo 3's gameplay as the worst in the series, others would say it's the best.

By derpface123 Go To PostGoddamnit, people are saying how shitty Halo 5's sound effects are because IGN's video has shitty audio. Not to mention the 30fps. Poorly recorded videos like this on big channels like IGN could have a negative impact on the game's success if there are too many of them…The game they released almost a year ago still doesn't work right, and people are still super hyped to buy their new game. I don't think rough audio compression on an IGN video is going to hurt them in the least...
My biggest issue with MCC is the stuttering I get every 3rd game or so. They get rid of that and I'd be happy.
The only issue I have now is the occasional laggy game and fairly slow matchmaking (max 45 seconds though).
MCC still freezes in Halo 2 Anniversary at certain points. These freezes were there at launch and they are still there in the exact same spots today.

That's interesting. Which spots? Is there any way to get around them? The only issues I had with h2a was not being able to do coop on Gravemind for a couple days in either June or July (can't remember) but then it mysteriously began to work after those couple days of not connecting whatsoever.

If I recall correctly, the freezes are on The Oracle and Delta Halo. There may also have been freezes on The Arbiter and Regret, but I'm not entirely sure. It's been a month since I last played through H2A and the issues were still there. I remember getting around the Delta Halo freeze (which is right when you come up the hill to see the giant forerunner tower and Cortana starts talking about it) by walking very slowly towards it and save/quitting repeatedly until it finally doesn't freeze when you get to that Loading.../checkpoint segment.

343 is responsible for the MCC but it wasn't any of their programmers that made it the buggy mess it was at launch (and still is in some respects today). I had no problems with Halo CEA or Halo 4 when those came out aside from Halo 4's file share problems, but I feel like the people who are still (rightfully) complaining expect everyone who bought the MCC to never buy another game from 343 until they 1. make MCC work perfectly, 2. give all MCC owners a lifetime of Xbox Live and $120 in Xbox Store credit, a free XB1 controller, a BRAND NEW CAR!, and anything else they can afford.
The Master Chief Collection, like the Master Chief himself, is at its core, broken. They have done what they can to make it for the most part playable, but 343 would have to dedicate an insane amount of resources to completely rewrite MCC from the ground up to make it work like a regular multiplayer game with lightning-fast matchmaking. I know personally I am never going to touch the MCC again once Halo 5 comes out, and I can't imagine I'm alone in that. Unless I get the sudden urge to play through the old campaigns again, my digital copy of MCC is getting uninstalled the day Halo 5 comes out.

I'll always be going back to MCC for the campaigns. Definitely keeping it installed.
By derpface123 Go To Post343 is responsible for the MCC but it wasn't any of their programmers that made it the buggy mess it was at launchEnough of this apologist nonsense. 343 is the one who constantly kept telling us every issue was an "old build" that things would be "fixed soon" and that they had "top men" on it, and the many other misleading statements/half-truths/lies. They're also the people responsible for tying everything together and making it work.
By derpface123 Go To Post343 would have to dedicate an insane amount of resources to completely rewrite MCC from the ground upWhich is what they should have done from the beginning, regardless of the expense. If it wasn't possible, a recall and refund program should have been offered. That's what you do when you release a broken product - the onus shouldn't be on the consumer.
343 is the one telling us it would be fixed soon because literally every developer who worked on MCC booked it as soon as they were done and refused to take any accountability for anything they might have had to do with the game being broken, leaving 343 to pick up the pieces.
The state of the MCC even now is seriously unfortunate but it's not going to stop me from buying Halo 5 when the beta worked fine and MCC is the only product 343 has made that I had significant issues with. If Halo 5 is broken, that will be when I draw the line, because that tells me that a product 343 developed all by themselves from the ground up for Xbox One doesn't function properly and nobody would be to blame for that but them.

No programmer wants to ship a disc full of shitty code with their name on it. Shitty code got sent to stores because management said so. Nobody really believes they didn't know all these issue existed before launch. Management could have said, "we're delaying the game six months because it's not ready" and you would have happily waited for a complete working product. When people say 343 DID THIS, they're talking about the ultimate decision makers, people like Frank and Ross, who let the game go out. I'm more inclined to believe a handful of executives are happy to line their pockets and sell a faulty product than think a bunch of programmers sabotaged a game and bailed.

Wouldn't it be Microsoft higher-ups demanding an Xbox One exclusive for the 2014 holiday that forced 343's hand to make MCC come out prematurely? I don't think Frank would have let MCC go out had he known its issues. He also stated in an interview a few months back that the problems the game had in a retail environment did not manifest themselves in their test environment, which is certainly no excuse as it's not like their test environment was anything close to the number of people who were trying to play the game when it came out, but it's still something.
I think Frank is a good guy and he loves Halo and I would absolutely assume he was not happy to let the game go out like that, but his job would never allow him to say "my boss made us do it" and he is essentially the face of the group, so he takes the flak. I don't know anything about Ross or Spencer or the guy before him though.
I should clarify that when I say I plan to buy Halo 5, I don't mean that I plan to pre-load/pre-order Halo 5. The smartest thing to do is to wait until the day it comes out, see what people who did buy the game already are saying, and if it's working, buy it. That's what I'll do.
By derpface123 Go To PostHe also stated in an interview a few months back that the problems the game had in a retail environment did not manifest themselves in their test environmentSome of the very same issues occurred in public demonstrations and the review build, and others were so plainly obvious or just entirely missing features that there's no way they weren't aware of them. Not saying Frankie is a bad guy or anything, I'm sure his options were to either say the official damage control lines or clear his desk, but the claim of "we didn't know" is a flat-out lie.
By derpface123 Go To Postthe problems the game had in a retail environment did not manifest themselves in their test environment, which is certainly no excuse
Not only is it no excuse, but it's total bullshit. Tons of the issues were present in the pre-launch tourneys and events that shipped with the "final" game. It was quite obvious there was little-to-no actual testing. Even the most basic of QA would tell you about 1th, unusable loadouts, campaign save/crash issues, etc. It was obvious how little thought and care went into the game and its approval when multiple games shipped in their 1.0 versions and the maps/gametypes in MM (when that finally worked) were as well. Shit, H2 Vista *still* has the problem with the carbine that Frank said would be fixed like a year ago.
If anything, the reason the majority of issues didn't show up in the test environment was because it wasn't really tested much at all. Speaks again about their track record of dishonesty as I've mentioned before in reference to the 14 day buy and play and other issues. Whether 343 is "forced" to say these things or do these things, they aren't true or transparent, so we still have no reason to trust the claims they make.
EDIT: Apparently beaten somewhat
The 14 day buy and play thing was a load of BS. Such a corporate "can't admit we made a mistake, so let's just lie through our teeth" kind of move.

I'm sure there'll be reviews a week out or so, at the least. And with Amazon you don't actually spend money until the day it ships.
By Wesleyshark Go To PostYou say valid criticisms are drama? I'll give you drama.
All you do Wesley is suck 343's metaphorical dick. You ride them the hardest and will defend them no matter what. Unabashed dick riding and positivity (towards a company that won't notice you) are just as bad for the community as constant negativity and releasing a borked product.
Let's not pretend that a corporation that relies on the money of the consumer gives one solitary fuck what anyone on a forum says, positive of negative.
343 have made a lot of mistakes in the past. I'm looking forward to Halo 5 and I'm for sure on the hype train but that doesn't mean that I or anyone else should preorder the game. Just wait until mid-day October 27th, read reviews from sources you trust, and most importantly look on Halo forums throughout the day to see if the game is working as intended. If it is, great! Buy the game and enjoy. If it's fucked up like MCC though... then wait and see if it gets fixed quickly. If it doesn't get fixed quickly, it's probably seriously broken and you shouldn't give them your money. Also Halo is basically dead if Halo 5 is broken at launch.

I knew that was coming. Thanks for being reliable Rag. :p
I have no assumption or hope or desire that anyone from 343 or any corporation sees what I say on the Internet lol. If I had anything legitimate to say to them I'd contact them directly, and even still, it wouldn't be seen by anyone nor would/should they care haha.
I enjoy halo. Mainly because of the lore.
I've enjoyed halo since CE.
I like Halo 4 the best.
I like Halo 3 the least.
I have thankfully had few issues playing the MCC, though admittedly, I don't play a lot of the multiplayer as I only play Halo MP when the current title is out.
This seems to anger you and others. That's fine. It is what it is.
I really don't have any problems with where Halo has gone and continues to go. If that's a problem for ya, I'm sorry I guess? It's a video game, sir, and that's all.
ITT people need to learn that PR is rarely ever transparent and is constantly about covering ass. And for profit companies are never truly beholden to anyone but stock holders. Long as they make money, upstairs doesn't need to care about the quality of the product. It's nice when they do as a whole, but it's not guaranteed.

Amazon has done that a couple times for me. Once for a broken item and the other time for when they sent me the wrong vinyl that ended up being out of stock anyway (still confused as to how they messed that up but whatever). They're basically like "eh fuck it. Keep it. We'll just refund you."

Remember how Bungie backed out of this franchise and left us with Armor Lock, Jet Packs and Camo AA's as a big F YOU <3 to all their wonderful fans?
