By jem Go To PostAfter watching it again I'm starting to feel it a bit more. Honestly the worst part of the cutscene for me now is the fairly cliché ending where they all jump in unison.
The music is fantastic though.
They're a crew, yo. They roll together. Also it cuts to gameplay immediately after, so presumably it switches to first person Locke perspective falling from that jump with the rest of the squad, and then you start playing. Seems like a fine enough segue to me, I think if you or I were a game designer we would find it very difficult to come up with a better super unique way to shift from cutscene to gameplay. It seems like in the game it would be a pretty smooth transition since he jumps to the camera, it goes black for a moment, and then you're playing.

"how would underscoring it help it avoid hate? if anything i'd say over scoring it would get him more hate."
you literally just explained why underscoring it would help him avoid hate. do you disagree or agree with the statement VinFTW made? i am confused.
basically ryan mcCoffrey rated halo 4 a 9.8 out of 10 and got tons of shit for it because halo 4 was by no means that good. if he under-scores halo 5, he might get some credibility back since he didn't just blindly give the game an amazing score.
Mistyped, meant underscoring would get him more hate. cEspecially onsidering everything 343 is doing to make sure this is the best game ever (with a lot of fam feedback). I wasn't into forums and stuff back then, but from a journalstic view Halo 4 was well received. It has an 87 on meta critic. Halo 4 is a very well made game (bAd HALO MP though). A 9.8 doesn't seem to be that far from the critical sphere.
Was the hate for Overscoring from twitter or something?
The hate from over scoring was from everyone post release realizing this game was definitely not a fifth of a point off a perfect score.

This is why reviews are largely pointless.

To be honest if Halo 4 was not a Halo game or didn't have to carry the mantle (get it?) of its predecessors (H1-3) I would personally still review it a very high score.
Solid campaign, fun multiplayer (especially when I compare to COD or BF), high production values and tons of content.

Anyone who didn't download the high res version should do themselves a favour, so much more detail is present in a download instead of a stream:

It's no slight to you Follow but Ragnarok is right. You offer a unique perspective since you started so late in the series, but at the same time that perspective is really going to negate the credibility of what you say outside of just talking about your brief experience with Halo 4. We're happy to have you here but understand that a lot of us are going to take your non-H4-related opinions with a grain of salt because of your comparatively minimal experience with past Halo titles.
Far more diplomatic than I. But the amount of wrong that Follow has spouted should cast shadow on any knowledge but Halo 4. Not an insult or anything just what it is.
Any speculation on Lasky's opening comments about colonies receiving massive Forerunner damage? Did I miss something in the EU?
I need some Forge information stat so I can stop feeling like a dumb bitch for considering a Halo 5 purchase...
By Ozzy Onya A2Z Go To PostAny speculation on Lasky's opening comments about colonies receiving massive Forerunner damage? Did I miss something in the EU?I think we'll get a look at it in the earlier, unseen part of the intro, but it's probably the Guardians waking up.
My brain's telling me to check the hype, but it's also telling me to shut the fuck up and get hyped.
Lasky in the intro sounded less than enthused of Halsey contacting them. Which is a difference from Halo 4. Where He tried to stop palmer from killing her.
343 don't make lasky into del Rio.

Maybe he is less than enthusiastic because Halsey on the Infinity would be in more danger from various UNSC operatives and loyal to ONI personnel.
Anon O miss, we will know September 8th if Halo 5 is the September IGN First. That's our best bet for Forge information.
Still super weird to me that I can say Halo 5 is coming out next month. Feels soon even though I'm sure the wait will seem endless.

Xbox Support says we need to play another MP game and not get reported for our rep to go up. Well jokes on me because the only other MP game I have is the MCC and I just tried to get into a game across a handful of playlists with no success.
So I'm completely hosed.

While I agree that those are good games, he shouldn't have to play a different game due to a broken system. 40 dollars for a game, that he cant matchmake in because some fine individuals got butthurt when they lost.

Surprised to think you find Halo 4 to be a very bad game, there's a reason it has an 87 on meta critic. What exactly would you rate it then? 5/10?
Especially after turbo boost MP is better than launch, and very popular on MCC. Also my favourite campaign.

Just trying to emphasise that IGN's score isn't so insane compared to a lot of other journalists out there. Nothing wrong with taking info from meta critic.
Didn't know everyone thought Halo 4 was a trash game.

Compared to any other Halo, overall, i'd give it a 5 or 6. Don't get me wrong, the story was good, but the campaign levels themselves were pretty dreadfully linear in comparison to what fans had come to expect from the previous games - and the enemies were not very fun to fight.
The multiplayer was soiled by its underlying launch philosophy, and even post-patch i'd prefer a good game of 2 or 3 over it. Without firefight and what feels in some ways like a downgraded forge, it wasn't the full package that its direct predecessor (Reach) was.
I'm confident in Halo 5, but 4 was a misstep that even 343i somewhat acknowledged in a community blog post-launch. (Not denouncing it of course, I believe they said they wanted Halo 5 to be much better) I know people harked on about Reach, but two years on from Reach's launch I could think about it and smile, and 2+ years on from Halo 4's, I can't say I can do the same at all.

True I didn't stick to 4 as much as I did with Reach. Although I don't agree with the score, I would give it a 8/9 because I really enjoyed. It did leave a bit of a bad taste in my mouth but It wasn't till MCC did I realise how much better it is. H2:A currently is my favourite MP without a shred of a doubt, but if I play BTB I will always vote for Halo 4 (I like it too much, not sure why it's any different than before).

By Invert Go To PostRyan "overscored" Halo 4 at 9.8 which garnered alot of hate.
Just exhibit A in the "game scores are stupid". Reading through his review, I don't see that much to fundamentally disagree with, but a 9.8 seems like an abnormally high score even with the positives he mentioned (there's also the fact that it's mostly a campaign review, with the multiplayer only glossed over).
I have to say, though I have no clear idea what he's referring to here:
By RyanFurthermore, an amazing near-final sequence tips its cap to the Halo finales of yore – you’ll know it when you see it and I dare not spoil it for you – even if it’s very obviously reminiscent of another powerhouse pop-culture phenomenon.
Is he talking about the Broadsword run and making a comparison to the Trench run of Star Wars?
By fuchsdh Go To Posta what he's referring to here:

Seems like it to me.
It's reminiscent of the Warthog runs in H1 and H3 and obvious fairly inspired by Star Wars' trench run, both of which he described.
