The Destiny OT there is a mixture of a chatroom and LFG site. Aside from Gheleon, I hardly see mods in there, let alone trying to actual "moderate" anything in there. The fact that they tried and failed to create two separate threads--one discussion, one LFG--and just let things go back to the status quo really struck a nerve with me.

News to me, but then again I don't visit that forum frequently.Beyond is mostly MLG Forum-goers, and MLG Halo was at its peak in popularity and talent pool during Halo 3. Reach and Halo 4 essentially killed off MLG Halo, so it stands to reason that they love Halo 3, and absolutely loathe Reach and H4. Even worse, CoD took over MLG and H4 was trying to copy a lot of aspects of CoD. So it all adds up to them being super salty toward 343, and anything they do that strays away from getting back to the glory days of MLG Halo.
And where's the dark theme on this site?!
There are some OG CE fans on there as well, cuz that started MLG Halo, but most of the arguing back and forth is going to be people who adore Halo 3, specifically MLG Halo 3.

Shit like Zoom for AR is fucking cool but having iron sights for SMG sucks.

I think it's stemming from the GAF relocation, people discussing their experiences with different community forums and shit. Guessing it'll die down once everyone settles in.

all I was going to say is that I think a community like Halo |OT| can maintain a lot healthier standing in a place like SLAENT as opposed to GAF. I've noticed the moderation here is a lot more "human," so to speak, and is just as capable of falling prey to internet fuckery as everyone else here. I think it has its place, but GAF's method of making their moderation seem so… "monolithic" in their posts and decisions feels detrimental to as volatile a group as HaloGAF because you're just going to end up with idiots trying to BXR anyone who isn't a true part of the community. The only mods I ever saw with frequent, pedestrian involvement on GAF were bish in BCT and Mumei (RIP) in LGBTQIA New Game Plus Edition. It probably helps that there aren't a ton of red flags tacked on to each post the moderation team makes here, but I think SLAENT's "founders" are more well-suited to herding the den of cunts that is HaloENT.
I don't think NeoGAF's moderation and thread policy is conductive to a good community thread. They seem to want to direct the discussion far too heavily; I think the point of a community thread should be to provide a space for those with a shared interest to discuss said interest and anything else they wish to discuss. This isn't a Halo discussion thread, this is a Halo community thread.
