By Wahrer Go To PostWarzone's skirmishes are so widespread, instanced and frequent that you could easily win a match for your team with only 3 or 4 competent players. I see it as Invasion-esque skunking / sweeping, just channeled in a positive and more accessible fashion. Depending on your tastes, Warzone skirmishes can potentially appease any player's ideal combat scenario, from campaign to multi to ff, which hasn't really been done before. We'll easily be able to get a 12 party going too, we fill up to a party of 8 rather quickly already.
With me playing we'll have at least one competent player.
By Ragnarok Flames Go To PostIf you want a game with missing classic features then more power.
ONE missing classic feature, and it's not a game with missing classic features if said classic features are gonna be added within a couple weeks of launch.
By November it will be like BTB was in the game the whole time.
By derpface123 Go To PostI'd rather have Halo 5 on October 27th and wait a few weeks for BTB than have the game entirely delayed to November and wait even longer just to play BTB day one. The wait is already painful enough.
Ditto. BTB is fun, but it by no means is worth delaying the game for.
By Ragnarok Flames Go To PostI mean by that logic, Warzone would be a crap shoot as well without a group of 12Exactly, so what's the difference? Might as well enjoy the slew of content in the package that is Halo 5 in the meantime, no?
And maybe this'll allow them to provide us with a better, more focused BTB experience after seeing how people play in Warzone. They could get valuable information from that while also giving them time to focus more on BTB instead of splitting resources between that, Warzone and Arena 4v4.
By Ragnarok Flames Go To PostIf you want a game with missing classic features then more power.I'd rather have the game release on the 27th so I can play campaign and Arena until BTB is ready than be forced to wait to play any of it.
In both situations we're not gunna play BTB until (presumably) late November. However in the first case we get to play campaign etc. until BTB releases.
I don't see any benefit to the second situation.
By FUNKNOWN iXi Go To PostExactly, so what's the difference? Also, calling it now. We won't see btb until December or January.
What I'm worried about is that BTB may just get delayed beyond November. I know that might not be the case, but if there's anything I learned in life, it's to never overlook the possibilities, even if the odds are one in a million. And given 343i's track record....

Honestly I'd be happy to buy AAA games almost "early access" style.
If the campaign was 100% finished right now I would totally buy the game and wait for them to add in the other modes/features later on.

Also wow, someone called in a bomb threat at SPJAirplay. Where's JC when you need him?
EDIT: Hope they're all okay there, I just found out someone called in TEN bomb threats.
EDIT #2: Nvm, it's just two bomb threats. Still pretty terrible.

The people who would rather see the game delayed just so everything that should be in the game at launch is in there at launch but at the cost of waiting another month or more to play the Campaign, Arena, and Warzone... I don't understand. 343 isn't lazy, and they shouldn't just hire more people in order to make these things happen sooner. They hired people to make the MCC in time for major game release season last year and look how that turned out. 343 knows best how Halo 5 works and how to make content for it in the most efficient and bug-free way possible.
They've made a campaign TWICE the length of Halo 4's, the new Warzone mode which contains six maps that are FOUR TIMES the size of a regular map and had nearly a thousand bugs to fix during its development, AND they made FOURTEEN Arena maps for a total of twenty maps at the game's launch - that's about twice as many maps as the average multiplayer game launches with.
It's one gamemode of Arena multiplayer that is undeniably at least a little bit mitigated by the inclusion of Warzone. Delaying the entire game just because of one playlist is ridiculous.

Finally talking about Halo on HaloENT, and if Destiny gets brought up after Halo 5 so help me baby jesus..
And a myriad of other things Halo 5 related until the weeks after it launches and BTB is ready to go.
That's a hell of a lot of content and time being spent there. So is that difficult to understand or do you just not care to understand it? This is the same thing I said to derpface lol. The "I never understand _____" phrase is silly ;b
Yes, you do undestand it, but you either just disagree or don't care what the other person has to say. If you simply disagreed, then we wouldn't be having some of the recycled conversations that we do, so I think the issue is a matter of controversy in which you enjoy dismissing what others have to say.

If the lack of BTB really bothers you, just wait for them to release it then buy the game. From the consumers point of view that would be no different than 343 delaying the game until BTB was finished.

I kinda thought the way you did too, and then Splatoon happened.
Splatoon's slowly unlocking on-disc content over the course of the entire summer (since its May launch), and it has kept the game feeling fresh with reasons to come back every week.
If there's enough of the core game at launch to satisfy me, I'm ok with the drip feed of additional content if it means the population is healthier/etc
By Ragnarok Flames Go To Postdo you believe everything PR tells you?1) Frankie isn't PR. 2) I don't believe he's a liar.

I live in a reality where they added a new 12v12 mode that is more than sufficient enough for my BTB fix, and it's definitely more than enough to hold people over until 8v8 BTB rolls around. You see it as a missing feature, but I see it as something additional, something being added on the already good value that is Halo 5 as a $60 product. The only way I would see it as a "missing feature" is if they were shoehorning 8v8 BTB into Warzone maps long after launch, but they're not so that argument has no basis here.

You get me.
Halo 5 IS full featured. Having BTB a few weeks after launch will be a nice addition to a package that already contained plenty of content to keep you playing.
By Rokklaggio Go To PostHe even didn't say that, man.

You get some, you lose some, not all of the features from previous games can return. What we have gained far outweighs what has been lost. While there are no BTB maps at launch, there are more Warzone and 4v4 maps because of it.
And BTB will be added for free anyway, so it's really not a big deal. I can wait a little bit for a single mode to be added to the game.

Hmmm, should I put my elite controller on hold then? This really has me curious what it could be. I play mostly Halo and don't want to miss out on any new mechanics/software specific to Halo.
Not exactly but we are working with the elite team on something halo specific. Not just aesthetic.(Cross Posting this here in case Frankie is lurking)

Here are my questions fo Mix for Frankie:
When will you give details on Forge?
Will custom games be joinable in Halo 5?
Will there be a Hammer for Grifball?
Will BTB be there for customs from launch?
Will you be able to have 16 players max for customs at launch?

I wouldn't have a problem if they retooled the Warzone maps for BTB. If they make it 12v12 instead of 8v8, it may work out. They might have to make the maps a bit smaller some way, but it would be a possible way to increase the map count for BTB.

Hey everyone, it's me! You may remember me from such things as Little English Halo Blog (up until a couple years ago), and HaloGAF (as Shadders, up until about a year ago).
How's it hanging? That Halo 5 looks kind of ok, right?
I preordered the Halo 5 console today. They had one in-store in GAME, it didn't really look like to the promo shots, the left hand side is much darker as opposed to the silver in promo shots. Looked pretty hot.
