By Wesleyshark Go To PostThere's nothing wrong with which halo you preferred or would like to see more or less of with features A or B, but getting crucified for saying Halo 4 was a great game is obnoxious and useless as far as a community or discussion are concerned. You can't have meaningful discussions without someone throwing salt or accusing you of being Bad At Thinking.
Super soldiers should be able to sprint and dodge and juke and do superhuman things. Reach was the beginning of that realization. Halo 4 evolved it. Looks like Halo 5 will be the full or close to full realization.
It's not toxic to dislike something. It's toxic to be a complete snot on the Internet when someone has a different opinion or expresses enjoyment where you found nothing but misery and death. :p
They call people who like halo 4 and reach bad fans cause they think they know what is right for halo. Beyond attacks 343 for listening to the non-competitive players and 343 should only listen to them its scary how much pull beyond has on 343. Rumor is they might be getting a skin with their logo and stuff for halo 5
Beyond isn't as bad as you lot say it is.
They don't ban people for liking H4 or for disagreeing with the hive mind.
They are incredibly elitest though, which can come off as fairly annoying.

I didn't like Halo 4's direction so I just stopped playing it, when people ask why I don't like it, I explain. Harassing game devs/fans or even insulting the devs beyond "I don't like what they did with this game" is just completely unnecessary. I'm not a mod but it's something I hope to not see here.
By Brokencircle000 Go To PostCalled I'm not liked by many people and I don't need to be bitched at.
Whatever Reiku.
I feel sprint is pretty hampering to map design in Halo, but it's not going to stop me from playing Halo. As long as there's still an emphasis on map control with power weapons and the game is balanced then I'm happy. The movement stuff in Halo 5 is pretty fun too, the refined thruster pack is awesome. I feel clamber kind of ruins crouch jumping as a skill, but it's used in some interesting ways too.

Typical Reiku.
By jem0208 Go To PostI don't really see any benefit to returning to GAF.
It would probably just get locked again.
Tawp jumping aboard the bad opinion train I see.
Given the current mods on GAF and their reluctance to forgive HaloGAF "history", yeah I'd say I'd agree with you.
I've told people privately now I'll say it publicly:
Their decision to move HaloGAF to Off-Topic was an immature "for the lulz" move by one or more of the mods. By that point, they had already decided to lock the thread and they just wanted to watch it burn, I'm convinced of this. How else can you explain that final post for the lock justification?
The mods there don't WANT a HaloGAF, even though the one that just got booted was formed by like 80-90% ofposters who've made GAF accounts in the last 18 months or so, not the "old guard" with its "history" they speak of. I just feel really slighted that I and many new members were lumped together with shit-posters of yore.
Class act those NeoGAF mods.

Well it's fine, but it would have probably been better if you didn't announce you were hiding behind a tag. It makes people suspicious of you out of the gate ;)
Either way, welcome. Feel free to discuss Halo 4. We got plenty here that appreciate that one over the other games.
I wasn't part of gaf couldn't join it cause of the email rule but jesus they really hated the halo scene huh?

Reason I said it cause I knew beyond would be here and they would of gone and asked the admins to ban me lol. And frank is a moron it seems saying im someone else.

Almost as much as Beyond hates the casual community.

I can see how sprint does effect map design and the ones in 4 and 5 are clearly much bigger than older maps. I've never really considered that a negative though.
If anything I find the older maps quite claustrophobic now. I really dislike Warlord and I'm not so keen on Lockdown. Shrine is by far my favourite because I feel like it gives you room to move around freely.
They didn't hate the Halo scene, they hated that a lot of the Halo discussion wound up in community threads and that the community was so tight. It's been a thing for years. They want to ignore how much the Halo communities recruited members though, that's on them.

Seems to be more preferential on your style of Halo, personally I find much more enjoyment out of the hectic pace maps like Lockdown and Warlord bring. Probably why it's such a delicate balancing act with future titles, and it seems like they're catering well, or at least attempting to, with things like War Zone and Arena in Halo 5.

If you've seen the Halo Online gameplay of Guardian it totally breaks that map, you can sprint and jump across the whole map practically. Midship worked with the re-size though, loved Truth in the beta.

I never really liked Warlock though, it's to small and doesn't benefit from the layered design of Lockout. So I won't miss a map like that.

In Halo, I prefer to always have my gun at the ready, unless I am holding Objective or in a Vehicle. Those are my biggest gripes with the movement additions to H5. I'd rather there be a way to move faster that didn't take the gun out of your hand. Sprint is as an excuse to have a slower base movement speed, which was somewhat addressed post Beta luckily. Clamber seems useless, a Thrust jump and crouching to clear the gap would be much better, and your gun wouldn't be put away either.
There are ways to speed up Halo and make the movement more dynamic and fluid, without taking the gun out of your hand. Arena shooters are best when you can shoot and move at all times.

Hoping that leads to some more interesting and varied encounters in H5's campaign; H4's Promethean lineup got stale for me gameplay wise.
Meta stuff re: my inquiry earlier:
all I was going to say is that I think a community like Halo |OT| can maintain a lot healthier standing in a place like SLAENT as opposed to GAF. I've noticed the moderation here is a lot more "human," so to speak, and is just as capable of falling prey to internet fuckery as everyone else here. I think it has its place, but GAF's method of making their moderation seem so... "monolithic" in their posts and decisions feels detrimental to as volatile a group as HaloGAF because you're just going to end up with idiots trying to BXR anyone who isn't a true part of the community. The only mods I ever saw with frequent, pedestrian involvement on GAF were bish in BCT and Mumei (RIP) in LGBTQIA New Game Plus Edition. It probably helps that there aren't a ton of red flags tacked on to each post the moderation team makes here, but I think SLAENT's "founders" are more well-suited to herding the den of cunts that is HaloENT.
Bonus meta: quit shitting on Beyond in each and every post. I mean like, I totally understand they can be full of the vinegar, but "guys guys don't out me i'm hiding here if i reveal my true identity they'll find me and try to take me back to the competitive halo |OT| and they're the worst group of people ever!" is just as detrimental.

By Brokencircle000 Go To PostI agree with you but I enjoyed halo 4 and it was what me and a bunch of my friends wanted. We hated the fact we could not sprint cause we are a damn super soldier. and I was banned from beyond as well lol. I'm using a alias so people don't know who I am and I don't get bitched at.Fuck Sprint. There have been hundreds of posts on multiple forums why Sprint is bad. And fuck halo 4 and its infinity bullshit. It pushed farther away from Halo's arena roots to appease all of the fly by night gamers that dropped it after a month.
Beyond wants the game to be halo 2/3 for christ sakes the series would really die and it would fall into CoD's place as the same shit right?

I hope they have a no sprint playlist with some good forge maps at some point though, I'm sure that would make a lot of people very happy.
343 really does have a very difficult task though. The Halo fanbase is so varied that no matter what they do someone will be unhappy. They seem to be doing fairly well with H5 so far though.

I understand where you are coming from man. However, the Clamber allows for more integrated vertical play that isn't obtuse to new players like crouch jumping is.
343 is trying for a more true to the "jet-tank" vision and I can appreciate it. At least the arena gameplay is quite good. I love Halo CE the most, but H5 is thoughtful and not inserting ideas for the sake if it.
I always thought the unjust NeoGaf mod thing was just a meme....
Told my friend about the HaloGaf lockdown the the first thing he says was "Everyone knows Halo got banned on NeoGaf because it's not the playstation", had me dying of laughter
Took my mind off of watching him play halo 4 on the 360....30fps looks so strange AND HE WAS USING AN AR THE HEATHEN

I'd rather have a dodge than a sprint. Always been annoyed how you're basically complete rocket fodder without some sort of dodge mechanic. Instead they gave us that huge somersault that could be repeated which ended up being a complete nuisance.
By The Flash Go To PostYeah H4's Prometheans were kinda meh. I hoping they'll be more like the Elites of the Prometheans.
I personally liked the Knights, from a design standpoint, however I believe their AI is what made them terrible. You damage them and they just teleport behind something for their shields to recharge. It got tiring fighting them. Same goes for the Watchers, but they're really not combat units and are more for support so I can understand that. Crawlers were alright, but just bland.

DF said it wasn't locked, and that it was scaling through various resolutions. Can't remember the exact numbers off the top of my head.
ADS is totally for the sake of adding it. No matter what "lore" justification.
That's the honest truth. The guns with alt fire could have been done without ADS. look at the Bkltshot and Plasma pistol. Both have alt fire and don't need ADS.
Just get rid of the animation or give peoe the option of traditional zoom instead. That's all anyone wants is OPTIONS.

Halo 5 won't be 1080p. Not happening.
Just my 2 cents on the sprint discussion. I don't like it. I can however understand if you do like it, but lore should not be the reason to add in a game mechanic in a series that went 4 games without it.
