This is why I tend to just shut up on GAF and keep it light. It used to be a lot like this place. You could go and speak your mind and debate shit. Chat in your little communities. Now everything gets locked by modbot just because someone doesn't like the thread or discussion. Then you get banned if you have a different opinion on things such as SJWs, etc. They've become an echo chamber. Not to mention the hypocrisy there. Take this recent Halo leak. They don't allow scans of magazines for example but they'll gladly allow leaked videos of games etc. If you're not going to allow one then why the other? Oh and god forbid you have something bad to say about a developer or for example in this case Kotaku. That's a ban now. Forget the fact that if a poster made a thread like that article they'd be banned.
Then oh rumors we can't have that unless it's a GAF approved site. We can't even discuss it unless it's from IGN, Kotaku, etc because well it's a tales from my ass and locked. Last but not least you had better not try to call them out on this shit either cause that's a ban. Hell I wouldn't be surprised to see myself banned for this post over here by a mod who gets butt hurt by it over there.
Sorry for ranting. Just needed to let it out.

Edited original post to include maps I think could work (with some slight tweaking), though I know this is simply daydreaming, it's fun to think about.
I completely agree. Maps typically thought of as favorites in the Halo MP map list more often than not don't have enough verticality to work properly. It'd give some love to the lesser-known/lesser-cared-for maps.

Oooo ivory tower would be potentially fun with thrusts and clambers. Replace the waterworks with a salt basin and it'll appeal to Rags. ;)

Hey look someone's bringing up Destiny in a halo thread again...ban me!
Regardless of how you feel about the game, Bungie has literally 180'd on so many things at the demand/request/endless petitions of their fan base. Destiny today is ridiculously different than it was at launch, and for the most part, for the better.

It's mind blowing what is allowed to be posted in those threads that goes unchecked on a regular basis. All it takes is a few juniors or a couple salty members to derail a thread and nothing gets done about it.
Oh destiny certainly isn't perfect but they've certainly had some massive improvements since launch. TTK looks to be right where the game needs to be, as a base for new and healthier growth.

By jem0208 Go To PostI think Poodle said it very well. HaloENT has lots of informed negativity, Gaming side is full of uninformed negativity. The former is far more palatable.Yep. In reality, even though I still don't enjoy or agree with all the negativity, most of those who tend to lend more salt here I think it's safe to say are still Halo fans (whether of lore, gameplay, or a combination). I really do think they want the best for Halo, even if they don't always have the most positive of things to say about it.
Compare that to other sites I've been on where most all salt-throwers actually want Halo daed.
Live long or frequently respawn, HaloENT.
I had a really great time with Halo 5 at Gamescom yesterday. I wasn't able to queue up for Warzone as the line was insane, but still it was good to see Halo being popular like that. I did however get to play a lot of Arena over at the more secluded 343 booth. Sadly, I didn't get to play on Fathom but I did play on the 'new' Empire.
It felt a lot smoother and crisper than the beta, that's for sure. The plasma launcher is essentially my new love and the shotgun works great with the new spartan abilities. Going 33-0 when some of the ESL staff were tagging along earned me some sweet loot.
I also got a customized 3D-printed Spartan model, so I am really glad I went.

Nothing wrong with Halo salt with informed opinions or reasons. Drive-bys plague every Halo thread endlessly. Even the Halo Lore thread gets it on occasion with posters who drop in just to say that something sucked or was stupid, then leave. I was actually in the process of writing a response for the HLT in regards to having to rehash the same arguments every month or two, but I decided it wasn't worth it. Can't stop the randoms. Then I got banned for something not even related to the reason for being banned lol, so it's moot anyway. 😎

Good to hear that the Caster has some value, but it made a pretty dismal showing at the Invitational, and not just 'cause it wasn't picked up very often. Curious to see what could be changed about it to make it fit better into high-level play.

I'll definitely post some pictures once I get it, it's going to have to be shipped after all and that's probably going to take some time. Red Helioskrill while holding the BR, gamertag engraved on the stand. I was actually surprised that I was the first to buy one, they looked really good.
Exactly like this one: https://twitter.com/BUK57/status/630004959606669312 - But in red and stuff. Shame I couldn't pick the visor color or that they didn't have steel. But this looks great too!
Yeah, I heard it didn't fare so well during the invitational. Personally though? Loved it, I didn't use the primary that much but I really stuck with the charge up version. It's like a love child between a torque bow and a flak cannon/grenade launcher. I was sticking people left and right and it was a monster at flushing out people from the middle room as well as the rooms at the sides of the map. Just fire a charged one and its fragments will do a ton of work, then fire in a few more for good measure.
Plasma launcher has alot of utility, surprised we didn't see much use of it especially on empire with the pro teams favoring the shotgun tower so much.

What's the verdict on Halo Reach here? It's probably my most played Halo game since its release coincided with a time in my life where I had tons of time to play games. I LOVED the detailed spartan customization, upgraded forge, good selection of playlists, and map design. To me, Powerhouse is THE Halo Reach arena map. So many good memories popping people with the DMR on that map. People complained about armor abilities and armor lock but I never understood that... it just added an extra element to the Halo formula and while it may not have been necessary, it was fun to jetpack around the place and blow up Scorpions with armor lock and nonsense like that. BTB in Reach was great fun, Boneyard and the Forge World version of Blood Gulch were maps I enjoyed.
As for campaign, I think it's probably Bungie's best. Well paced, good character development, nice and very cinematic cutscenes, and a good variety of environments. The space battle mission was cool too, though I would have liked to see it emerge as a special playlist in matchmaking; that would have been awesome. Halo 3 would be pretty close to Reach in terms of campaign but that god awful Cortana level towards Halo 3's end just disqualifies it from being the best.

My one issue with Reach is the contradictions with Fall of Reach, but I'm mostly over that at this point. Multi never really grabbed me 'cause of Armorlock and associated BS. The Campaign was pretty good, overall. Highlights probably include the entire space mission (including the beach assault), and the thing with the whole pile of warthogs.

Halo Reach wasn't awful. The singleplayer was damn fun. People get salty over retcons in it but hell it is Bungie's universe. They have every right too. It isn't like they turned Chief into a pink Flamingo or something. Multiplayer wise I was kind of neutral for the most part. I hated armor abilities though. Map flow was destroyed thanks to jetpack and armor lock was buillshit and ruined the fun of sticking someone with a grenade because they could just armor lock and pop them off. Maps I also feel were hurt due to having to be designed around both Multiplayer and singleplayer.
But overall I did like the multiplayer. Still it's on the lower end of my list next to Halo 4. Armor abilities just hurt both of those games a ton.
By Wahrer Go To PostlmaoMy opinion ain't popular, but it sure as hell has logical reasoning and evidence behind it.
Opinions aside, Halo 2's got to be one of the worst entries (if not the worst) purely due to how unfinished it was. I mean granted, it wasn't fundamentally broken the way some games are on release nowadays, but there was clearly a ton missing from it - Halo 3 might as well have been Halo 2 fully realized.

Heck some of the blue and green sets look better than the very few we have available.
I do think the TTK titan set of the guy rolling with the fire hammer looks pretty badass though.
I like the Reach campaign for the most part. Multi was kind of a clusterfuck, and unplayable before they put in 85% bloom, which I still think wasn't enough (I'm telling you, 100% bloom was designed for fighting against elites!)

My friend is gonna lend me his XB1 copy of Destiny so I can play it for a bit. How long does it take to reach the vanilla (no DLC) level cap? How many hours will I be playing through the singleplayer before I complete it all and have to start replaying missions? What's the easiest beginner class?
More importantly, should I even bother right now, or should I just wait until September and pick up the Destiny TTK edition that includes all of the DLC and will allegedly offer a less RNG fueled experience?

It's too late for that, though. The story's legitimacy is corroborated by Halo: Fleet Battles. Hopefully we'll get more info on how it all fits together. Bungie actually brought in Eric Nylund to help work Reach's story into the overarching story. Of course, Bungie thought it'd be cool to not share any of the connecting fibers with us.
