Also you can hear the influence of TLOP on both of Drake's and Kendrick's albums and it's great. It kind of makes their albums a little more intimate, but also less pop. More discussions on life and love and less about how much money they've made or how cool they are. Probably why I feel these last albums are the best of both of their careers.

Yeah nah, that's a great way to shit on my opinion with no counterpoints. Thanks
I can't get enough of Lust (and this album in general). I've probably sung "Let me the put the heaaad in" about 1000 times in the past few days.
Also the TLOP comparison feels like a stretch to me. I hated that album though so what do I know.

Very excited for new Vince, nothing he has put out has really hit me the same as Summertime 06, but excited nevertheless.
By Pizza Go To PostNew Snoop and DJ Quik/Problem are niiice.
Snoop over the Charmel's sample from CREAM was cool but I didn't care for most of Neva Left
If any of you are into battle rap I highly highly fucking highly recommend you peep jc vs chef trez
The wordplay from both these guys! Like there's not much that's new to me having been a fan since battle raps inception and I kinda don't follow it as much as I used to but I haven't heard consistent bars like this in a long ass time. Just so fucking clever from both of these guys, skill level on 100. I need to watch a few more times to decide a winner
I'll try find a link shortly

JC is one of my favorites going. Some of the slow it downs are annoying, but that man's pen is absolutely fire.
not sure if he qualifies as a rapper but Frank Ocean pulled out of the Primavera festival less than a week before he was scheduled to perform.
fuck everything.
at least RTJ is still coming.

That's gonna have to wait til I get through Big Boi's album, hearing good things about 2Chainz album too.

Someone mention Young Thug?
By GQman2121 Go To PostChigga is too good to lower himself to that trash, but oh well. Sad.
He's only 17. Still young and has time to grow.
Getting away from Young Thug and that autotune would be a good start. But I'm not knocking his hustle. Get paid.
By Kidjr Go To PostTalk to me Slaent, anyone listened to young thugs albumIt's really good .
Think Jeffery, but with a more clear/similar theme across the whole project.
Didn't realize Big Boi's new album is out too.
I just so happened to listen to ATLiens, Aquemini, and Stankonia this morning. They're all so great.

Too much get through, Vince staples around the corner and hopefully a new hov project in little over two weeks.
Speaking of Hov the GAF thread about this project made go back analyse watch the throne lyrically, jay may actually come harder than he did on blueprint (second to RD) on that album, just nuts.
You not a fan thugger GQ?
Also I loved jay-z's twitter list of inpsiring MC's, some emcee's I didnt think I'd see on there tbh

The production on this Big Boi album, outside a few songs, is just... not good. I'm sad to say it but Organized Noize don't have it anymore. That EP they put out this year was awful. It's unfortunate because I watched that documentary about them on Netflix and it seems like they're really trying to get back in the game.
By Kidjr Go To PostYou not a fan thugger GQ?He's the new Soulja Boy - he's that corny. He's tolerable in moderation like guest appearances where he can be kept under control. I will say that a lot of people have flipped on him over the last two years. These same people were joking on his style and laughing at his wardrobe pre Slime Season.
I've listened to the record, and it is concurrently painful and forgettable. The first track begins in an interesting way before quickly reverting into another bass line for him to whine over. By the time I reached track 7. You Said, I was reaching for the Advil, but there isn't enough codeine in production to make this lame noise interesting to my ears.
What are songs like Me or Us and Oh Yeah even saying? Half the tracks he's in between crying and singing poorly over an acoustic guitar that he can't play. And he'll be lauded as some visionary taking a risk for it too. He sounds like the bitch that he calls out or refers to on nearly every track.
On Fire is a good beat that is ruined because of who is on it. Should have gone to one of the good Atlanta Young's, like Dro.
By Zeus Ex Machina Go To PostJay got a new album dropping June 30thNot confirmed to be an album. May just be a short film with him scoring it.

Though he very well may be dropping a project.
By KingGondo Go To PostMan, remember when Jay ruled the world?
Anything he does now basically gets a huge shrug from me.
Jay still my fav rapper of all time and I think the majority of what he puts out is fire, think I've aged similarly to his music so it always just seems to fit where I'm at in life.
Dude can still rap his ass off rap when he wants just doesnt need to imo.

Boomiverse is just ok and that sucks. Rumor that a companion album to Boomiverse is coming in the near future.
I was actually listening to it again and I was little harsh on it. There's only a few songs where the production is noticeably bad. I didn't realize Mannie Fresh did the outro either, so that's pretty coo.

I dont know maybe my tastes have just gotten passed the point where I listen to rap for rap, I like melodies, a theme and great beats. Dont really care how they how they are delivered whether they are a multi-syllable punch line ridden verse or a simple rhyming barely audiable song. The under lying theme with music has always been how does it make me feel and once I realised this I felt alot more accepting of a alot more artists and appreciate what they do with their skillset.
I find it hard to digest that young thug has no artistry imo.
T-shirt has been the illest song of 2017.

This statement makes you sound like some kind of hip hop elitist.
Give me one good reason why Young Thug shouldnt be disucssed on the same page mobb deep.
It's ok to think Infinite ems best work while enjoying what future etc. sound

I told you - I think he's Soulja Boy. That's just my personal opinion on him and his craft. I know he and his style are currently popular. I don't expect anyone to agree with me and I'm not attempting to convince anyone. Music is far and away the most subjective of art forms.
And I think Future's output over the last two years has been nearly unparalleled in the field. He and Esco have been excellent. But I don't equate what Future does to Young Thug though they run in similar circles. They're like completely different genres to my ears. Young Thug is that wack to me. He has more in common with Lady Gaga and Katy Perry vocally and the presence of an internet star who leaps into mosh pit crowds for Instagram likes. He's embarrassing and laughed at where I'm from. I'm admittedly, a North East elitist though :(
