People here actually didn't like the Beyonce Lemonade Visual Album?
I mean, that shit was an artistic masterpiece. It's her Purple Rain and her Thriller. I'm amazed that anyone has a negative viewpoint of it.
And this is coming from someone who hasn't liked any of her solo albums except Sasha Fierce.

By P S Y C H Go To PostYeah, I didn't like it at all. Like, not a single song has really clicked.
Have you watched the video from start to finish? I just, I'm baffled lol.
As a musical album, it's really really good.
As a visual album - from start to finish - it's a complete artistic masterpiece. There's really no other way for me to put it.
uh, good for her? it's music man.
edit: i don't care for any sort of metric or reviews when it comes to music but even then from that link there are only 15 reviews....

Cuz it's been out for 3 days. I mean, it may come down a bit but it won't come down all that much.
It's fine if you don't like any of the songs, to each his own. It's just, people on this forum are the first people in 3 days I've encountered that have that view point. Just definitely contrarian.
He got to marry Beyonce and get away with cheating on her. He ain't got to do shit else. It's still a man's world.

Ok so back with my updated thoughts, havent given it enough play time for it be conclusive but there are some extremely good songs on this album. I think skimmed a review where it described this as her most emotional and artistic album, and its probably true. I cant decide if something is missing though, and what I mean by missing is that due to the nature of her previous albums (hit, ballad, hit, ballad)its a bit weird this doesn't really follow that formula but that isnt neccassarily a bad thing.
She'll never top Sacha Fierce though

Sasha was my favorite Bey album before this. It was a collection of great songs with a couple dud's mixed in.
This is an album from beginning to end. It's one complete story using different production styles and artistic styles to tell one cohesive story.
There are definitely love ballads (sand castles, all night) and hits (formation, daddy lessons, hold up).
But this is the first album by any mainstream artist in years that really has to be listened from beginning to end. The video is what puts it over the top into classic territory imo.
Halo is still probably still her single best individual song ever though
The best part was when she was sitting on the floor pretending to play the keyboard. That was cute.
The video album didn't do much for me.
The actual album--having listened twice now--isn't bad but it's certainly not very memorable. There are no singles. Her previous five albums have all been littered with pop hits. This does not. It's a soundtrack to the visuals and nothing more.
I suppose that's okay, as she clearly had a message she was sending. But the next record is likely going to drop sooner rather than later. I doubt it's going to be another two years.

Literally an opinion shared by nobody lol.
Also, lol at "Beyonce doesn't know how to play a keyboard"

I gotta imagine probably 1 million people signed up to a free trial of tidal. And even if half only generate one month's revenue (many will cancel but some will stay on for multiple months) they're gonna take in somewhere between 5-20 million in revenue off this
Doesn't even count people who buy the album and how much HBO paid her for this.
Listened to TLOP. Ehhh if this was before 808's or MDTBF maybe it might be dope. But he's been doing his half rapping, half auto tune eclectic production shit for multiple albums now.
At this point the best thing he can do is just realize an insane hip hop album with Kendrick or Cole level lyrics and raw hip hop beats.

"Kendrick or Cole level lyrics"
there is a huuuuuuuuuge disparity in quality between those two names.
Also, Yeezuz is Kanye's best album.

Ye is a horrible rapper and telling him to he needs an album with Kendrick level of lyrics is like telling Vin Diesel all he needs to do is put on a Leo like performance...

There really isn't, it's a style thing. It's not like Kendrick is gift or qwel. The shit i used to write is better than most Kendrick shit.
Also Yezus is trash

Eh I was writing super dope shit as a 9th grader, Ye can write dope shit if he just took it seriously. At least Cole level shit
By P S Y C H Go To Postlmao i definitely prefer the side of you 3sp
Dude I recorded a demo with a dude that was on Dre's payroll and worked with Game and Bishop Lamant and Ras Kass. My issue is my delivery sucked ass and I wasn't down to put time into refining it.

Cole has been ghost writing some of the greats for years... that's just silly to say if Ye just tried harder...
He has no touch for lyrics and that won't change by him willing himself to be better
By blackace Go To Postbut do you wanna lay a track? I make beats.

Trap Lord is one of the best albums of the decade. This isn't as good but it's still really good. Psycho is better than anything on TL tho.

3sp gonna bring the bars?
Ferg's album is growing on me. It sounds..."honest" and I think that's what's making it click. Don't know that I like it more than Trap Lord, but as it's own thing, it's cool.
New Level is my shit.

Agreed. I honestly love the album. Clicked right away with me.
Kina surprised how light on features the new Drake album is. Dunno if he's enough to carry the whole thing, but I guess we will see tonight.
I didn't realize Noreaga had released a new album. Has anyone given it a listen? It was a free download and is on datpiff. Seems feature heavy which isn't a bad thing for NORE. He should save his money though...
Views is alright, very very alright. Not dissappointed, I had low expectations and they still weren't met. Handful of good tracks, lots of ambien music.
When's the last time drake made a good album though! Thank me later was good. Take care was good but not as good. It's been downhill from there
His album after that, Jay Z had the best verse on the whole entire album. And it wasn't like Eminem renegade shit, it was typical Jay Z shit.

Thank Me Later is garbage.
NWTS and Take Care are like half good half filler. IYRTITL is the most even.

NWTS took a while for it to click for me, but it has a pretty good balance. IYRTITL is probably the most... I guess cohesive? The former has a nice mix of slow and upbeat, while the later sticks to a speed and sticks to it pretty much the entire way through.
Still need to listen to Views some more, but this is definitely a drive around album.
Started listening to IYRTIYL - Legends trash, Energy is meh, Bands is cool, Know Yourself is trash, No Tellin and Madonna trash too.
Not a good way to start an album. I'll give the rest a listen later

Random fact I had a textcee battle with j Cole when he used to post back in early 00s.
And I think due to lack of quality lyricists available people get hung up on kendricks ability. Dude is nice but really isn't anything special from a purely lyrical stand point, he's a very well rounded emcee tho.
Also I have to agree wth 3sided on the Beyoncé album now have time to digest it. It's incredible.
