I love how his kids for the most part just go with it and take the abuse. Love it.
Black Market....
Tracks 1-9 on Black Market might be some of the best sequenced unfuckwithable rap music that I've heard in a while. I like the Mariah track, a lot, but it breaks the pacing a little bit. There are all of two songs that I don't particularly care for, but they aren't bad...at all. The more commercial joints slow it up some, but even they are quality. This album is complete fire.
I don't understand how Ross' ear for beats is this good.
edit: Really, his whole run this fall has been crazy.
Spitta dropped too? This weekend is lit.

I couldn't do Freddie Gibbs at all. I gave the album several tries and keep giving up. I really can't stand his flow.
I guess I need to check out Ross and Curren$y's new albums.
I'm gonna fight you reilo.
Was this the first Gibbs project you listened to?

By Moris Go To PostII'm gonna fight you reilo.I am generally in line with your tastes in music. Summertime '06 is fantastic. I tried Gibbs off your rec and even listened to his earlier work (which I thought was worse) but just couldn't stand the general tone and flow of his new album. I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying it's not for me.
Was this the first Gibbs project you listened to?
Some of the tracks really give me an early 00's Southern-I-can't-understand-a-fucking-thing flow vibes and I really don't like that kind of rap.
I'm not anti-Gibbs, I just won't bother listening to his stuff because it's not for me. There's a difference.
My top 3 feels to be pretty firm with TPAB, summertime and Docu 2. Gotta listen to new Ross. I liked new Gibbs more than I expected I would, packages goes so hard. Sod slotting in behind pinata.
By blackace Go To Postnew Rick Ross goes....in the bin with new Jada. I didn't care for either.
Ross's mixtapes this year did more for me personally.

By GringoSuave89 Go To PostHuh, Black Market is pretty great. He sure has an ear for beats.that's always been Rick Ross' best point

By Moris Go To PostCurren$y album any good?I like it! Better production than Pilot III. Both good though.
Pusha has some great lines on Darkest Before Dawn but I only really like about half of it.
If this is the BSides to his next album I'm cool with that.

That's how I'm treating it.
Black Market blindsided me. After a few listens, I think it might be one of my favorites this second half of the year.
By blackace Go To PostGibbs is horrible to me
This last project or in general cause Gibbs has done some nice stuff over the years. Also he is on Par with Pusha and Kendrick on killing dudes on they own shit.
By blackace Go To PostPusha is also another dude I feel is super overhyped…
On what basis? If anything he may be one of the most underrated lyricists currently (not there are many).
Due his subject matter I think his penmenship gets overlooked. The way he still manages to make the subject matter seem fresh after over a decade of literally rapping about the same thing ALMOST EVERY single track is testament to the strength of his metaphors and similes.
