Jay's "B Side" catalogue is better than most these rap niccas' whole discography, cant hate on that. He also has clear and intelligible vocals when he raps live, half these cats scream and/or grunt into the mic and let the audio dub do the heavy lifting for them.
Seen Jay live twice now and while I'm not his biggest fan he's been really solid both times, great performer.
Wish there was more hip hop gigs here.

I listened to that new K. Lamar album like 3 times straight and I have to say it's straight ass. Like 808 and Heartbreaks level ass.

Best release of 2015 for me and by far Kendrick's best work. I don't think a day goes by where I don't listen to at least one track. Mortal Man is track of the year so far.
808s is 'okay' but comparing that to Lamar's TPAB isn't too far off, actually.

Welcome to Los Santos qualifies as a rap album right? Because god /DAMN/ it's good.

I was let down too but had some jams on it
808 is maybe 2nd or 3rd worst Ye album
Coming in late but 808s is amazing.
About to listen to ALLA. Rocky is a weird one for me, don't generally like/enjoy most of his stuff but I keep listening because i think he'll eventually hit gold for me. Really enjoyed that video for L$D too.

It's more of the same from what I have heard so far, maybe too feature heavy.
Fine Whine was just abysmal all the way through.

Anything worthwhile since To Pimp A Butterfly? I haven't come across anything halfway decent on my Spotify but I could be missing something.
Plenty.

Of that I've listened to A$AP Rocky, Action Bronson, and Earl Sweatshirt.
At Long Last A$AP- Solid, nothing offensive but nothing really great. I've only listened to it twice through in the car so I'll keep giving it a go. I don't like the insane amount of features on it though, it makes it feel unfocused.
I Don't Like Shit, I don't Go Outside - Too fucking depressing man. I don't deny some of it is quality, but shit just isn't enjoyable to listen to.
Mr.Wonderful - Mostly all of the good tracks were released well ahead of time and the rest of the album was completely whack. The wharbly singing Action Bronson does is just downright painful and don't even get me started on that skit shit.

I want to say Barter 6 over PT3.
It was a little underwhelming despite some great standout tracks. Thugga has a top 5 rap album of 2015 right now mainstream wise at least.

I want to listen to some modern hip-hop. I haven't really been keeping up with the genre. I was wondering if you guys could give me some recommendations from this year (or late last)?
All I have listened to is Kendrick's album. I'm not too into super intellectual/experimental stuff, I find it a bit pretentious, a lot of the time. But similarly, not that A$$ song by Big Sean.
I remember the end of 2010 with Kno's Death is Silent and Kanye's Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy really fondly, anything like that around? Little bit of electronic never hurt anyone, either (Danny Brown over Purity Ring, yeah).
Cheers.

Almost fell outta my chair when I heard Kyle on the Chance album
Chance album is a light summer time anthem, feels a little too unfocused to me but I think that was almost the point.

"I wanted this one to be a platform for more Staten Island artists to be heard that aren’t getting heard, because you know if it isn’t Wu Tang–I mean, we never blocked anyone from trying to get a record deal. I mean the way the record industry works is, if something’s not broke, don’t fix it. Bottom line is there’s a lot more talent to be heard from Staten Island outside of Wu Tang artists, and these kids are dope. I wanted to just give them a platform to be heard."
Okay. So it's not just me. I was like, damn this A$AP record is really well put together, all the songs sound good, and I get the vibe he's going for, but why is it so goddamn boring?

Troy Ave's album tanked
jesus
only managed to move a total of 4,373 copies since its release last Friday, with the majority of that number coming from digital sales, and only 30 copies coming from actual physical sales of the album.
