Towns - His passing was easily his stand-out ability. He reacted to double teams fairly well later in the game, didn't think LA would throw those at him but it did get him flustered a bit early. His stroke looks nice and his defensive awareness while not really amazing this game was at least serviceable. Showed a whole lot of hustle too.
LaVine - Overall too good for SL, started off great and cooled off a bit towards the end. His weaknesses showed when he tried to force the issue or attack the rim. If his 3ball is indeed improved then he can be a starter in the league with that + his athleticism.
Tyus Jones - I didn't believe in him before the draft and he didn't do anything to change my mind with his 3 foul 3 TO 2 rebound and nothing else performance
Lorenzo Brown/Jeffers - Scored well with few attempts, literally don't recall any of it or what they look like, but I wasn't paying very close attention when the ball left Towns' hands.
Adrian Payne - Learn to type.
---
Russell - Good passer, showed off his vision a couple times. Didn't shoot very well, looks slower than a NBA player should. His defense was solid ended up with 3 steals (shoulda been 4), 6 asts and 5 rebounds.
Randle - Started off really bad, TOs, bad shot attempts and a couple bad passes. 4th quarter was what I hope Randle is in the long run, used his first step and strength to spam the FT line. Still think he can turn it around.
Clarkson - Too good for summerleague much like LaVine. Only weakness was his 3 ball and played average defense. Otherwise he's clearly over leveled for this.
Upshaw - 3 Blocks and handled his own against Towns, clearly got under his skin, was a bit too physical. If this is Upshaw out of shape then I'm excited to see him in playing shape.
Nance- Hustle but couldn't stay out of foul trouble long enough to show much. Plus this is more about Randle getting reps than him.
Anthony Brown - Looked good for the most part, would have liked him to get some more 3 FGAs

By masud Go To PostTrying to watch this Denver sl game and I literally cant. Feels still too fresh.Just skip to the 2nd half when he looked like he deserved to be back in China.
McAdoo looks like some 40 year old retired NBA guy they just pulled out a local YMCA and threw on the court.
How much pussy is Russell swimming in in Vegas tonight?
Which club will he hit up first? Marquee? XS? Hakkasan?

Oh no, Thabeet is on the D-League Select squad. & Scotty Hopson (remember him?) tore up the stat sheet along with Alan Williams whom I haven't heard of before today.
Hopson - 27pts 8 of 16 & 10 of 12 from the line.
WIlliams - 27 pts 10rbs 10 of 18 & 7 of 9 from the line.
Williams is only 6'8" but Found this on him
"why'd they make me do that to those kids.....they were so young...."

Scotty Hopson made sure he did not get drafted by being super arrogant during his draft interviews. Talking in third person and shit
By diehard Go To PostThose valuable summer-league .. anything?when Russell, Clarkson, Randall and Black are the probable starters for opening night, they need all the time they can get to gel together, so yeah, valuable summer league court time.
Knux, my boy clarkson doe, i know you're tempted if mitch offers him for Jahlil.
Again Summer League is generally about dudes passing the eye test. Looking like they belong and aren't overmatched.
yeah it is fuckball but you can tell ASAP who is donezo most of the time. Yeah DRose had bad stats but physically he looked like he could hang in the league.
whereas guys like Evan Turner looked overmatched. And on the same token, while MCW shot like ass, he put up $TAT$ ..just like he did his rookie year.
You can get stuff from the summer league.
Noel is all I have left breh. Don't take that from me. Hinkie pls

By Moris Go To PostTowns stats look…whatever, arguably worse than Okay5's but he scores way higher on the eye test.yep. No one should expect these kids to come out looking like prime MJ and stuff but you can generally see if a guy can at least exist on this level. Jah was getting his shot pinned by dudes who are only doing this because they are in the area. Yes he is as advertised but his offense isn't this otherworldly thing to make up for his awful defense..and our lack of talent is only going to maginify that. Jah is going to be putting up 7-18 shooting nights weekly and I am not going to enjoy watching that lol.
still I'll hold out hope it was rust and playing next to Furkan Aldemir more than anything.
sidenote: super mad that I know how to spell Furkan's name this well.

Undrafted C Robert Upshaw agrees to 2-year deal w/ Lakers, league source confirms. Partial guarantee on 1st year, 2nd-year non-guaranteed.
Watching DX videos on D'Angelo I commented on his lack of athleticism. Unlike dudes like Kyrie and Steph he was struggling to create separation on his shot.
Bought in on the skillset and the "Magic" talk and then REALLY bought in when read that Jerry West believes he's the best player in this draft.
But yea, I'm still worried about his athleticism

Yeah those 2 consecutive defensive plays against Towns probably got him an NBA contract.
Hope he's really cleaned up.
Hope he's really cleaned up.
Sooooo so far
1. Towns - Looked really good, he needs to fill out and get reps but he'll be good in the NBA. Great passer for his size, no glaring weakness in his game and to top it off he's going to a great situation for his skill set.
Bust Nickname: No need, he won't bust.
2. Russell - His lack of athleticism might hurt him but he uses screens very well, in a PnR heavy league that should outweigh his lack of explosion. NBA training should help him a bit but he'll never be an elite athlete. Didn't have a great shooting night but his stroke is nice. His defense was really undersold I think, good anticipation and quick hands.
Bust Nickname: D'angelo RussSlow
3. Okafor - His defense will be exposed at the NBA level, his post game is merely good but can become very good. His bad leaping ability and limited athleticism will be a big hindrance in the NBA. I think Okafor @ 3 overall will look like a mistake soon.
Bust Nickname: Okay5
4. Porzingis - TBD usually there's 2-4 outright busts in the top 10 and I haven't seen anyone look like undeniable ass so far. Knicks-Slaent be sweating.
Bust Nickname: Poorzingis
5. Henzonja - His handles are janky but they work, he's athletic and it looks like he can shoot. His biggest obstacle will be his own attitude and ego, could easily become fuckless after a small amount of success or become a cancer after team failures...or lack of touches or if he feels the team overly relies on him or....
Bust Nickname: Wario
6. WCS - Looks like he's going the Tyson Chandler route on offense, sticking close to the paint waiting for unplanned opportunities, not great for some of these guys trying to attack the rim. I would prefer him just setting screens almost every play on or off ball. His defense overall hasn't been super impressive and sunk to bad a couple times, but he'll get more consistent with the way he hustles . Good to see him run the floor so well to get back on D and on the fastbreak.
Bust Nickname: Steamtank Willie
7. Mudiay - He's big, he can rebound/pass but his jumper is as broke as everyone feared. His long term success will be determined by his ability to fix his J to avoid being Marcus Smart 2.0
Bust Nickname: Bootiay
8. Stanley - A few teams will be upset about passing on him. I was totally uninterested in seeing his game tape during the draft process, but he's looking like a man among boys in SL, likely to tone down in the regular season but he looks like he belongs, with help from SVG he will likely figure out his role faster than most other rookies
Bust Nickname: ???
9. Frank Kaminsky - My favorite thing about Frank is his composure, I think he can play decent minutes immediately without being a deer in the headlights. Not sure if he's starter worthy right now, but he should be able to hold his own as a 6th man for the time being.
Bust Nickname: Frank The Tank
10. Winslow - His jumper scared off teams in workouts and now it's apparent why. He's getting to the line very frequently but that's likely to be cut down in the regular season against NBA defenders + not getting calls as a rookie. He still is a high ceiling defensive wing and great athlete if his J never improves, truly a young Iggy.
Bust Nickname: WinsLow

Upshaw's size and length is intimidating as fuck. Towns actin it up in those gifs, Upshaw showing some nice anticipation.
^ second gif is an acting job, but the first one is borderline flagrant from Upshaw

wonder how long before he puts elbows into peoples rib cages when they're in midair

The thing about Johnson that looks real as opposed to SL hero is his strength and style. He's fierce going to the rim and just bodies people for rebounds.
I'd like to see WCS try some jumpers in SL, but staff is having him Chandler it up. He really needs to learn how to set a proper screen. Should ask some tips from Reggie Evans.
