Trump's speech on Immigration:

NEW YORK (AP) — NBC said Monday that it is ending its business relationship with mogul and GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump because of comments he made about immigrants during the announcement of his campaign.
NBC said it would no longer air the annual "Miss USA" and "Miss Universe" pageants, which had been a joint venture between the company and Trump. Trump has said he is no longer appearing in the television show "The Apprentice." NBC said "Celebrity Apprentice" will continue to go on without him.
Last week, Univision said that it was canceling its coverage of the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. Trump had portrayed some immigrants from Mexico as bringing drugs and crime to the country in his presidential kickoff speech.
Trump's speech on Immigration:
The US has become a dumping ground for everybody else's problems. It's true, and these aren't the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people they're not sending their best. They're sending people that have lots of problems and they're bringing those problems with them, they're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime, they're rapists and some I assume are good people. But I speak with boarder guards and they tell us what we're getting and it only makes common sense. They're sending us not the right people and it's coming from more than Mexico. It's coming from all over south and latin america and it's coming probably from the middle east, but we don't know cause we have no protection and we have no competence. We don't know what's happening and it's gotta stop, and it's gotta stop fast

I hope someone takes a long look into the hiring practices of any one of his businesses. I say start with the Tower.
They could have ended this relationship years ago. It's not the first time he's made outright racist or bigoted remarks.
Trump responded:
Trump said he anticipated losing the business relationship and that he's not apologizing for his statements because they "were correct."
"Whatever they want to do is OK with me," Trump told reporters in Chicago after a campaign speech to civic leaders.
But in a statement issued by his company in New York, Trump said "NBC is weak, and like everybody else is trying to be politically correct. That is why our country is in serious trouble."
He said he'd consider suing, as he plans to do with Univision. He also took a shot at NBC's decision to demote, but not fire, news anchor Brian Williams for telling false stories about some of the reporting he was involved in.
"They will stand behind lying Brian Williams, but won't stand behind people that tell it like it is, as unpleasant as that may be," he said."
That double down.
Politically correct is seriously like the best and worst statement ever. I can't take anyone seriously who says it unironically, especially in the face of their own outright bigotry and lies about a whole group of people.

It's actually a triple down at this point as the double down was what led up to NBC pulling out.
I've read two of his books. The first, The Art of The Deal, is actually a very interesting and informative read. It's full of stories of his early projects in Cincinnati and then New York after graduating for Wharton.
My take is that despite his business savvy and ability to erect large buildings on time and on budget, he's the epitome of white privilege, and the poster child of the delusional 1% that bought into Reaganomics in the 80's.
Donald Trump is exactly who you don't want running your country. Not just the US, but any country. The shit that he's spouting about bringing jobs to the US that are currently performed in China is such pandering nonsense that you forget that this guy is actually worth billions of dollars. The fact that he's gaining traction in the polls just proves that Hillary has this shit on lock. He's a political joke.

Trump running is so bizzare too. Like, he's obviously not going to get elected. But he's going to dump hundreds of millions. And hundreds of millions of donations.
His speech was quite something though. You wonder if anyone even vetted his speech or he told everyone he'd just do it himself.

All the practices of gutting the welfare state, privatization, deregulation, dismantling progressive taxation, etc, equate to a surprisingly obvious class-based cash grab couched in quasi-mathematical (i.e., pseudo-scientific) snakeoil economics and the easily-fed delusions of the ruggedly individualist American Dream.
I don't understand how the big GOP backers haven't influenced the GOP into a less racist party.
Businesses LOVE immigration (because it's awesome for everyone financially) and the GOP is backed by business interests yet there's still all this dumb shit about senators hating immigrants.

By IWMTB19 Go To PostI don't understand how the big GOP backers haven't influenced the GOP into a less racist party. The establishment is trying but the fringe has too much influence in the primaries, enough to drag the conversation to the far right. Money is great but it won't change the fact that your voter base is racist.
Trump is their worst nightmare because there's nothing they can do about him. They have no leverage over him and nothing to threaten him with. They also know that he's an unpredictable egomaniac, and if he feels that they've disrespected him he might fund his own independent candidacy attacking the Republicans from the right; that will all but guarantee President Hill.
That's why no one in the Republican leadership is telling him to cut that shit out. They're tiptoeing around it and hoping that ignoring him will make him go away as soon as possible.

Project Tom Clancy, as adumbrated in Executive Orders.
Fill (seriously: entirely fucking fill it) the treasury with stockbrokers.
Parachute commercial lawyers into all diplomatic posts.

Yeah, the establishment money knew after 2008 they needed to make changes. However the tea party and right wing radio convinced most of the base to go further right anyway. Romney just wasn't conservative enough. They've done nothing in the last 4 years but further distance themselves from minorities.
