Who is actively working out? I am currently in my 3rd week of Starting Strength. Did P90x1,2 and Body Beast prior.

Going to buy T25 pretty soon. P90x worked great for me but I found myself getting bored, especially for an hour workout daily. I have a few friends who are beachbody coaches and rave about T25.
I just have one question. Is it more beneficial to bench press flat or inclined? They hit different muscles... incline hits more of the upper chest

Doesn't really matter what type you do (flat, incline, decline). Incline hits the upper pecs more. I usually do flat for overall chest
i lift more weight than anyone here (except upper body lOL)
i have to bench tomorrow. fml.
Bro do you even????
Squats, bench press, deadlift and arms today smh
If you're not weightlifting you're not living.
Cuev I still do the 5x5 you told me about.
I'm glad. I really pushed a handful of people to go on it and a couple years later they are all happy.
I have been lifting fairly light weights but high reps and have noticed a nice improvement over the last couple months. I want to start increasing the weight. My goal is just to look good in a t shirt. So I got work to do lol.

Just keep at it.. The change will happen before you even know it..

Work out to look good. Eat well to look good naked.

Patience and time is the main thing to think about when lifting.
Keep at it and be consistent
And remember keep track of your diet too
Fuck me Im getting some gnarly DOMS in my mid-lower back. Had to take a muscle relaxer and ibuprofen. I blame power cleans
PR'd my deadlift. 445x1.

I have increased my curling by 15 pounds and my bar by 30. that shit is kicking my ass and I love it.
If I wanted to find a personal trainer, how much should I realistically expect to pay, and how would I go about finding someone I trust?
I'm pretty average, I wouldn't call myself fat (although I have a small bit of a belly) my whole life I've been the skinniest guy but lately it's picked up. But I'm trying to get into it. I'm just clueless though. I was never really raised to give a damn about fitness and all that.
Trying to change my diet to a consistently healthy one, and hoping a trainer could help keep me in check. But I don't want to go to the local gym and have the risk of having someone who is just looking to get paid and wouldn't care about me personally.

Don't you live in Dallas? How far is Wichita Falls from there? You can sign up to the Wichita Falls Athletic Club, which is owned by Mark Rippetoe, founder of the Starting Strength program
If I wanted to find a personal trainer, how much should I realistically expect to pay, and how would I go about finding someone I trust?I personally wouldn't trust a personal trainer. You might find a good one, but they're far more expensive than the value they would give you.

Fit-GAF seems like a pretty good community, and I'm sure they could give you some pointers to get started. If you like the home workout thing (which I do), Beachbody programs are pretty good. If you commit to a program like P90X, you'll see results for sure.
Do you have any friends who also want to work out (or better yet, already do)? The buddy system works well for lots of people.
My best advice is to schedule your workouts in advance and ask for advice. Also, you really need to emphasize the key areas--back, chest, core, and legs. If you take care of these areas, you'll have a great baseline--then you can emphasize other areas as needed.

Yeah, and Wichita Falls is really far.

They are expensive but I'm willing to roll with one until I feel confident that I'm doing things the right way and whatnot. And I have attempted the beachbody stuff, but I either 1) Can't catch up quite yet 2) Don't ever feel like I'm doing it right 3) I don't have weights, I have resistance bands, and I've tried a lot of different stuff but it never seems to do anything. I don't feel like I'm struggling with those.
And I don't really have friends that want to work out, or any that live near me for that matter...they all do their stuff and we'll meet to hang out once in a while.
Maybe I should just buy the whole P90X package. I've basically been ripping off the DVDs lol but I don't think will do it.
I've worked out before but I was never really a gym dude so I'm also pretty clueless about gym etiquette and all that kind of stuff. I exercise by playing basketball and biking but not lifting weights and stuff. Thanks though.

I think investing in the set (you can get it used on Amazon for $80 or so last time I checked) will make you more likely to use it IMO than just using a ripoff copy. I should know, I've tried. :lol

I really need structure to succeed, and having the calendar with a set workout each day really helped. I've been doing Beachbody stuff for a couple years now, and I feel and look much better than I did before.
As far as weights go, You should be able to get by with a 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 for most of the workouts. Not cheap to buy all those, but they're better than the resistance bands. Something like the Powerblock adjustable weight might work for you too. Honestly though, doing exercises that utilize your natural body weight will work better than you think.
Let me know if you have any more questions. Also, the BB thread on GAF is pretty helpful and encouraging as well (although a couple of the "Beachbody Coaches" can be overbearing with their product-pushing).
:o
Did you also follow the nutrition plan? Cause I looked at it...god fucking damn it, that's going to be by far the worst part. Not that I'm going to be eating like shit, but I gotta have my pizza, bbq, tex mex sometimes, you know? :-(
