I reckon with a good defensive setup and a solid holding midfielder he might fit back into a team that controls the games with more fluid football and more space on the sides.

I don't like how the Copa America refs do their thing, it is the opposite of how some of Europe's ones are(which I don't like either).
Some refs in Europe will "protect" players like Ronaldo, Messi, Neygod etc. which is stupid, luckily not many are like that.
But here basically refs have the attitude of "You're Messi, you should be able to handle that" and won't call a foul which they would have for someone else.
