By Dark PhaZe Go To Posthttps://youtu.be/t2b8UdqmlFs?t=445That's a great video. Also, one of the most important bits right here https://youtu.be/t2b8UdqmlFs?t=704
Keep those knees pushed out.
I forced myself to go to the gym last night even though I was tired as fuck. Felt so good, need to get into a routine. Also I had no idea what I was doing at the gym. I used the app Progression and looked at the descriptions of the machines to figure out how to use them.

Moved up in weight in deadlifts today and was hoping to get 3 good reps out of it on the final set, but did the full 5. Feels good to keep moving on up.
By reilo Go To PostGo below parallel, m8.Used to stop at parallel until a month ago and now go below it. Had to drop some weight tho but it was worth it.
Went to the gym again today and did a leg day. I actually like working out my legs, but I think I used the Hip Abduction machine wrong. Kinda sore already, I'm sure it'll be worse tomorrow and the day after lol.
I feel like I'm plateauing already. I guess its these 45 minute sessions that my gym people swear are the way to do it
I need to find a good youtuber or something to compare my workout

Just been in a malaise at the gym the past couple weeks. I figure if I'm not busting my ass there's no point.
Busted my ass for 30 minutes today and going to just keep with it.

Had to drop some weight tho but it was worth it.Yea so I just decided to take a closer look at my form and decided that my stance was a bit wide. Went lower with the weights slightly and yep, my form was a bit off before and now it looked immediately better. Completely different feeing after this one. Oh well. At least I think it'll help me get over the wall long term.

At least I think it'll help me get over the wall long term.I always feel disappointed when I have to go lower with the weight to improve and refine my technique but eventually it really pays off. Recently I went lower with the weighs when doing deadlifts because I noticed I had developed a bad habit of raising my legs way too early. Now it looks and feels much better.
Had a really nice workout yesterday, and I had a nice cold protein shake immediately after it but once I got home I had a delicious brownie....god I shouldn't have eaten it.
By DY_nasty Go To Postgonna try to lunch-gym todayI did lunch-gym for about two years and dropped it in the end. Not only did I have to stress through to keep my lunch break as short as possible to get back to the office (and eat and THEN work) but I couldn't do everything I wanted in my workout. It also meant I had to stay late at work to make up for the long lunch breaks (and it got worse when I had to do OT). Switching to evening was much better, no stress, could do everything I wanted and exercising in the evening beats being in the office in the evening.
might be the best way to tackle upperbody tbh
Lunch workouts are nice tho if your workouts are shorter.
don't know how some of yalls workouts are so long
watched a dude on the squat machine for at least 20 minutes and I'm like bruh....dude did like 5 sets of 10 and then added weight and did reps of 3 and I'm like why not just fuck all the bullshit and go hard and heavy 5 x 3?
I dropped stronglifts because of the 5 sets thing--like fuck outta here with all these sets for real.

really though, its how I always worked out to know i'm maintaining my strength and building a base. never plateaued that way either really
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postdon't know how some of yalls workouts are so longm8 I'm not gonna go max right from the start and risk an injury. I probably can't even do it at my max without warming up. 5 x 10 for warm up sounds a lot tho.

I do a couple of warm-up sets in my first ~4mins after I stretch. Usually do 1st set at low weight of 5-7 reps, then heavier set (but not working set) of 3 reps just to get used to a higher weight, then I go into my working set. I also recently added a couple of supersets to help my form when I am a bit more tired, so that's how I end up doing squats for 20 minutes.
By DY_nasty Go To PostLunch gym failedEmpty stomach or did you have breakfast? I used to do the empty-stomach lunch time workout and it definitely takes two weeks to adjust.
By reilo Go To PostEmpty stomach or did you have breakfast? I used to do the empty-stomach lunch time workout and it definitely takes two weeks to adjust.some guy made an appointment with us and cancelled last minute - threw my whole schedule for the day. we were really making time to dig him out of a huge hole too
my work week just isn't that stable yet
I went to the gym on Monday, definitely feeling it more today in my arms/chest/shoulders. Going to go again tonight to do legs. I didn't do legs properly last time I went I think. I started with a low weight since I was scared to do anything heavy. The last time I was going to the gym, I did squats and I ended up fainting in the middle of the night when I went to the washroom and cut open the skin below my lip.
Though I realized now I need to eat better so I've been trying to make sure I have all the right protein and carbs before/after work outs.

Good workout today. Mainly chest, arms and abs. Inclined bench press went much better than I expected compared to last time.
Its fucking wild - the difference between functional strength and gym strength.
I was just rocking the fuck out of an 80lb weapon two months ago. In the gym doing curls? I can only do 10 reps of 20 with my left arm. My shoulder is stronger than my bicep. Unreal.

By reilo Go To PostBro, I do 10 reps of 35lbs per arm lol. I'm shocked you're stuck at 20.Its comical. Apollo can vouch - running an M2 solo ain't some small feat. True big boy gun.
My curl game is infantile. The ways I've compensated around that lack of strength there is staggering TBH.
been bored as fuck at the gym recently. My main one is closed for refurb, so I go to their sister studio. Problem is it's 20 minutes away by car and lacking in weights. Can't really hit the treadmill because I've got some noticable Achilles Bursitis in both ankles. This is due to a tendency to under-pronate when i run, combined with worn running shoes. A new pair plus heel raise insoles are mitigating it somewhat, but I really need a month to recover.
Been riding a bike in the meantime. 32 kilometres across varied terrains 3 times a week. Absolutely sensational stress relief with minimal impact on my joints. Almost had to kick a Goose for being a hissing, biting cunt as i rode by on the canal stretch of my ride.

I wear the Kevin Hart joints (short bro solidarity) most days at the gym. Especially for leg day. No slippage at all. I'd probably get something else if I ever got into powerlifting

But I've tried most of my shoes in the gym (Jordans, Foams, Vomeros, Odysseys, Free Runs etc) just to see what they all feel like and what kind of slippage, if any, occurs. I thought about getting some Metcons but they hurt my feet. I'm never doing leg day in a Nike running shoe again though. I learned that lesson.

Was worried I couldn't do the shoulder press today because my left arm has been hurting since Wednesday but it went pretty well. Seems it only hurts if I twist it slightly CCW. Time to give it some rest over the weekend.
Now I'm thinking I may need to adjust my diet a bit. My calorie intake is still WAY down but recovery time?
I know that some my cardio stuff is probably way better because I've dropped trash weight. #GAINZ though? Feels like areas that I've typically never targeted before are either just getting woken the fukk up or I'm slacking on the nutrition side.

How do you guys convince yourself to do cardio and genuinely enjoy it? How do you make time for it? Do you just have one day where you do cardio and nothing else? I did some cardio after lifting yesterday but it only took like 10 min before I told myself that it's some boring ass shit and left. I have a terrible mentality towards it yet a desire to do it.
Suen I just play basketball or soccer a few days a week for cardio. It's easier to focus on winning than just cardio itself

I don't put that much value in running except on a treadmill because its just not enjoyable for me. Where as a nice walk is relaxing.

fuck treadmills. its either a real run, biking on a machine, or elliptical.
when i know for a fact i'm not about to wear my knees out, i'll play basketball
You don't already have one??

Taking this week plus half of next week off as I'll be out of town. It'll be the first week since October that I didn't workout at least twice and 90% of the weeks I worked out a full 4 days. It'll be nice to recoup and let the little nagging things heal a bit and then get back into it.
In the meantime, this is gonna be a cheat week. Already got my burger, coke, and fries in hand.

50 kilometre ride across road, muddy trails and bike paths today.
Absolutely fucking destroyed. Done on a fast day where i hadn't eaten since 6pm yesterday night
Nearly lost a shoe on one of the paths when i put my foot down and it sunk 2 feet into the mud
Will do it again at the weekend

That last 5km was pure fucking hell, mate. I had nothing left in the tank and the last couple of uphills were close to switching my body off. Managed to keep control of my breathing and gearing, thankfully. It's those moments where you've gone past your comfort zone and ability where you make the gains
I've hit that point where I went from losing 4-5 pounds every other week to normalizing around 1 pound every 2 weeks or so. It's fucking demotivating as shit. Like I can do more pushups now and I can run for a minute or so rather than what I could do before like..15 seconds but its killed my motivation at the gym and made me more susceptible to satisfying cravings.
I may have to finally get with my trainer to have some sessions to remotivate me cause god damn I can motivate myself to go to the gym but once I'm apathetic/bored out of my skull. I need to start goingto batting cages or something physical thats actually fun
