By Gabyskra Go To PostThe "pump" does not that last that long. If that worries you, just do push-ups before you go out but I doubt people care for the difference. It makes sense if you're Zac Efron and you're about to shoot a scene, but in this case also refrain from drinking water for a day. You can sprint for the last 10 meters, that won't take much time off your marathon record.
Nice analogy, thanks man.
People in the gym been saying you get 'decay' after 72 hours of not working out, so I was trying to prevent it a bit I think/
You can take a week off and still expect to be at about the same level you were before. Just don't make it a frequent interval.

AH really? Nice, only time I ever stopped working out is when I wrecked my elbow. Just make sure I eat plenty right?
so i guess we all suck lol
anyways, i kinda spoke about it to some people here on and off slaent - but i had pneumonia this past month
lost a ton of a weight 20-30 lbs or so, most of it was mass in my legs and i'm really not about that skinny jean life. i went to work with a coworker as soon as i got off bed rest and she hit me with a "did you get taller? :D" aka "rip to ur gains brah"
i think it was easier for me to get in the gym dealing with all of that than it was previously. i'm in there now just trying to do what i can instead of going in, in pretty decent shape, and trying to be some kind of super soldier
also, leaving basketball alone (doctor's orders) might've been the best thing for me in a while. i can get a proper leg day in and do more -real- core stuff.
i may take before and after pics this time

I also went to the gym for the first time in at least six months. Weighed myself for first time in that timespan, too, and well, not good.
At least you went... shit ain't gonna get better magically by itself. So gj.
I think I'm going to start going more regularly to distract me from the rest of my shitty existence.i have a community gym in my development but the god damn old people always stare at you.

proper burnt out this month. Dropping the football for a few weeks and keeping it light at the gym to get my recovery on.
eating healthy cold turkey for the most part today--water and two salads with very light dressing for breakfast
trying to replace soda with green tea--the goal today is to stay super hydrated and eat often but healthy so I don't crash

Can't wait to go back to bulking 💀
Although tbf I've got into a good rhythm with this cut. The most annoying is your lifts staying the same and not progressing.

By s y Go To Postla fitness vs planet fitness?
does it matter?
don't know about LA fitness but I know planet fitness traditionally doesn't offer free weights, which are a must
still...machines are better than nothing
I've worked out at LA Fitness before and it's quite good for a commercial gym. Very comparable to 24 Hour Fitness.

Powerhouse.
la fitness is $100 to start & a $30 monthly charge. fuckkkk that.
Imma go with planet fitness because it's cheap and no contract until they give me a reason not to go. going in wednesday.

I think the key for me was shopping for my failure. Like... what I used to always do was just go hardcore healthy, get miserable and order delivery because I didn't have any options. And the delivery has to meet some minimum order so you've usually you a bunch of unhealthy food that ends up being a huge set back.
So this time I bought food that I genuinely like but are in portion sizes so that if I cheat its not going to set me back as much as it used to. It happened today. Ate really well and worked out and ended up just eating a hot pocket which was good enough. Before that hot pocket would have been a small pizza or a dinner box of Chinese.

Started South Beach diet because I apparently hate food.
You know it's bad when peanut butter tastes as sweet as honey. I'm on week 2. CANT WAIT to eat fruit next week. But I do like that my pants are easier to get into.

Started cleaning out my gym again after 5 months of non use, shoulder injury is finally healed, wrist injury too.
Time to start low and build up

They got tvs on the treadmills and stair machines at my gym. Shows how long its been since I've gone to a gym
So I know no one in here is seemingly a professional at this shit or anything but I had an odd day at the gym and wanted to see if anyone could spot the problem. Basically, it was my second trip to this gym ever since I'm trying ot get into better shape because of my blood pressure(which is down but no idea if it stays down or not and my doctor still wants me exercising and dieting right since I still have some of the symptoms)
Woke up fine. Ate a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and a banana and multivitamins
Went to the gym around 11. Drank a bottle of water on the way.
Walked the treadmill to warm up until my trainer got there.
We did leg presses first. 3 sets of 15. I think it was 35 pounds or something. Didn't really feel weak in the legs until the last set of 15.
We did lunges and mixed it with a chest press. Chest press about killed my arms, honestly. Lunges inbetween again then did lat presses. Arms felt weak as hell from the chest press, could barely even finish but otherwise felt mostly fine
did a squat/exercise ball workout and mixed it with the little ropes you twirl up and down. whatever they're called. arms felt super weak from the chest press already and that about finished them off.
Then we did this rally thing where I pushed a set of weights(?) on the ground one way then pushed them from the bottom the other way real fast.
Had a little water from the fountain and then we were scheduling another meeting while setting up the treadmill to cooldown.
I went to go get more water because my vision was starting to blur and I'd had this before when I worked at the grill at an old job. But not as intense as this one. I took like two steps and immediately grabbed the pillar of the building, closed my eyes and pressed my head against it before basically collapsing onto the little mat/couch thing they had. The trainer went to get me water and I was on my back practically hyperventilating. I drank the water and started to feel better after a bit but it scared the hell out of me. He thinks its dehydration even though I drank water before coming in. I guess I sweated it all out near instantly though but I'm worried I didn't eat enough before coming in. I walked to the dentist afterwards and felt mostly fine(well outside of the blood pressure issues i'm already experiencing though those have gotten slightly more manageable.)
I looked it up online and people said they felt nauseous and it was dehydration or not breathing correctly in their experience. I didn't really feel nauseous though.
This was about 30 minutes of exercise in total. I did around an hour the first trip and didnt feel near as bad, only having some sore arms afterwards and sore hamstrings the next day(though we didnt do all the same exercises). I go back Thursday. Just trying not to kill myself getting my body used to being more active.

lol you're fine. That shit is totally normal because you're out of shape and unconditioned and probably dehydrated. Early morning workouts on a semi-empty stomach (you didn't eat much) are also something you don't just start doing without easing yourself into it.
The biggest takeaway? Your trainer probably pushed you too hard. I'm guessing he was trying to establish a baseline and overestimated your fitness level. Take it easier next time, and you won't have this issue unless you completely overestimate how much you can do. You'll soon establish a baseline and work off of that.
Don't worry about it too much. I've seen people puke up their water right after they were done. The only thing I would caution is being aware of your blood pressure and tracking it and keeping an open dialog with your doctor. Otherwise what you experienced is just flat out exhaustion because you lack conditioning.

Yeah he's trying to get a baseline for me. Funny enough when he did the chest press he's like 'doesn't feel like anything does it?' and that was like the most exhausting exercise. He's a tank commander too
Unfortunately I can't keep too open of a dialog with my doctor because no health insurance atm. I track it semiregularly though. My BPM was high at the end of my exercise but not that high for a more intense workout.

It happens to me occasionally. Just sit your ass down, get some water and control your breathing. Give it a few minutes and don't panic. If it's a bloodflow issue, get on your back and get your knees bent up. This happens to me occasionally when I go hard on the kettlebells after 5k on the treadmill. It used to happen every time without fail whenever i used the leg press, but i smashed out 150kg x 100 mixed positions.
One thing you could try is getting a glass of water with a bit of salt mixed into it before you go to the gym.
