ive been practicing my golf swing to get ready and my shoulders are just stiff and tense to a ridiculous level.
By HasphatsAnts Go To PostI need ideas on how to cut rice out of my diet. It's so hard to get rid of it since it's basically all I eat. Can't do salad cuz Cold food disagrees with my stomach.
quinoa is basically rice if rice actually followed through with its new years resolutions
laying off the cardio because i fear i may have burnt out. Legs are wrecked and it feels like i'm running with twice my bodyweight.
Just going to do weights for a month. Just had a session and am having dinner, Bulgur wheat with grilled chicken, chilis, onion and garlic. Shit is delicious and hot.

I think if you just drink a ton of water you're good with creatine
Had a great leg and core day yesterday. Focused on a lot of the stuff DY was talking about for quickness--hamstrings and quads isolated, standing calf raises with a smith machine to failure, treadmill sprints
did a bunch of crunches and butterfly kicks too--realizing now that my abs have not gotten nearly the work I thought they were because I thought most of my ab work was fine through deads and squats--not the case. its why I've gotten some low back pain after basketball and certain workouts.
so I've got to integrate my abs better into my squats and deads and I've also got to do some isolation abdominal exercises. shot the three ball a lot yesterday and tried to focus on what was the root of my back pain--realized it was my abs. My jumpshot motion was completely fine from an arms and legs standpoint with the bottleneck being abdominal fatigue taking away from my shots. When my abs start to give my lower back starts taking the brunt of the movement--hence lower back pain after ball.
glad to have figured out the problem, just gotta find out what the best move forward is in terms of good ab workouts/routine

fuck, have chondromalacia in my right knee. Pretty much the cartilage is worn off and my bones are rubbing together. Not too terrible but will have to fix that before starting gym again
Meniscus is fine. It's just cartilage being worn off from all the running I do for cardio which is creating bone to bone contact. So if I leave my knee bent for a while or walking up the stairs it starts hurting. Pretty much have to wear a brace everytime I exercise and probably stop using the treadmill. Sucks cause I was in a routine for the gym, gonna take a bit to start back up again.
Omzz, stretching relieves the pressure, and building muscle will also help. I also thought I'd have to wear a brace all the time but that's not the case always. I've been biking and rowing without worries, hopefully you'll build yourself back up pretty quickly.
Yeah the therapist I went to gave me a list of stretches to do in order to strengthen the muscles. Really glad I decided to go, was very helpful
Jesus fuck, when I hit 182 pounds I told myself I would cut down to 171, and now 3 weeks after that decision I'm at 188. I hate how hungry I am these days. I want to be at 176 by mid-May.
Funny thing about being broke is you learn portion control REAL fast.
Sitting in a pretty good spot now that I basically got out of the habit of binge eating for breakfast and dinner. Noticed how different I felt in just two weeks.
Gonna eventually get to squatting again but it's like learning how to walk again; new form stuff.

Got a Fitbit. Let's see if this acts as a motivator and gives me a clearer idea of my goals. Always nice to have a general idea of how many calories I burned.
fitbit got thrown in the bushes so fast, same thing with shit like my fitness pal

Good article and summary of HIIT:
In short, HIIT workouts are great if you're already in shape but want to improve your oxygen consumption and endurance, while at the same time lowering the risk of Type 2 Diabetes, but overall it's not a good program for weight loss.
Many pursue high-intensity interval training in hopes that it will lead to a sculpted body and weight loss. But as we noted in a recent feature, exercise — including this newly beloved kind — generally only has very modest effects on weight loss, if any at all.
Kathryn Weston, an exercise scientist at Teesside University in Middlesbrough, England, told Science News, "The only thing [HIIT] definitely doesn’t do is weight loss." The main reason, she said, is that you don't burn enough calories in the short workouts to create the kind of energy deficit that would lead to slimming.
But there are particular health benefits from this type of training on two measures. One is cardio-respiratory endurance (again, that's measured by VO2 max). A number of meta-analyses have shown that HIIT routines lead to greater gains in VO2 max compared with other forms of training.
The other benefit researchers have discovered: Short bursts of intensity in a workout may also reduce the risk of Type 2 diabetes by improving the body's response to insulin and blood glucose.http://www.vox.com/2016/5/5/11577668/high-intensity-interval-training

I've been considering HIIT for a few weeks. I've been lifting weights and want to get back into running. For health issues, I need to increase my fitness.
After cutting calories and trying to build muscle, I've decided to try intermittent fasting. I've done it twice over 1.5 weeks. The first was a 16 hour fast. Not to bad, when you break it down. You could easily eat dinner early Friday night, then lay in bed Saturday until you are eating a late breakfast. Bam, that's a 16 hour fast.
Went better than I expected. I usually associate hunger with headaches. Hell, I call them hunger headache. Mostly, it was a family thing and it was due to playing video games too long without taking care of basic necessities: eating, showering, pooping, etc. My first memory of a 'hunger headache’ was playing Zelda 1. Got to goohma, said 'Fuck, I'm hungry!', finished the boss and ate for the first time all day, around 2pm. It's stuck.
Now, I only get migraines when I'm hungry and tired. It has to be a perfect mesh of extreme fatigue and basic hunger, but I use hunger to try and overcome it. It's not often but the link is strong. Migraines are powerful enough to make you try crack or anything. 'Lick a stripper's booty hole? Whatever it takes. Oh man, it smells like trash truck juice.😋'
But I've plateaued and I need to drop 20+ more pounds. Now, today I'm starting my second 24 hour fast. I'm interested in burning some fat and overcoming a terrible dependence on food. I can get hangry as all hell and it's not right. Nothing should have that type of hold on you.
I'm thinking, I may do one to two fasts per week. I'm more surprised I can tolerate it. Last one I did was Thursday. At the end of 24 hours, my hand was jittery and I knew I was hungry but I made it thru.
And I felt good. Energetic, the hunger feelings are tolerable and losing pounds makes me feel good.
All in all, Muslims do it everyday, many people are forced to do it everyday and the American way of eating is killing us. So, wish me luck in this journey.

An alternate Intermittent Fasting routine to consider is really just not eating breakfast. You go 16 hours without eating (from 8pm until 12pm the next day, for example), but in those 8 hours you eat as much as you would during a regular three meal day.
I can't remember the last time I had what was deemed a breakfast two days in a row before 10am. So yea, I intermittently fast lol

well shit I guess I do it too. I love breakfast food but I've never liked eating as soon as I wake up. I crush it from about 12:30-9pm though lol.
Alright guys I've migrated from GAF and looking around.
Been weight lifting for a few years now and have a core foundation of strength (from ss/5x5) but exams and inconsistency mean I'm Fat King right now. Started this 16week clean bulk from Corey Gregory on bodybuilding.com called getswole. Currently in Phase 1 and I'm already seeing good growth and fat reduction. Not easy for a beginner because of the supersets but if you've been looking for a good bulk program I think this is a good'n and I'll certainly post results when I'm a little further through.
Current Phase
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/get-swole-cory-gregory-muscle-building-trainer.html
Nutrition-wise it isn't awful, I'm not following it to the tee but my habits are improving and I'm using my own supps instead of MP
My advice is to buy less snacky food. If I really need to eat when I'm not meant to I open up a bag of raw spinach, even if you don't like it it's a good way to ditch the crisps and sweets.
Also 90% it's because you're thirsty! Drink more water and also green tea is good!

this worked a fucking treat. Actually lost 7kg whilst going up from 17.5kg/22.5kg to 22.5kg/35kg weights for my routines. Acceleration is back, speed is getting there.
What a time. Bless the 20kg kettlebell.
Also, Green Tea is fucking great.
Nice man! It's really important to remember to switch things up and even take a few days if not a weeks worth of rest. Obviously the trick is not to stay out of the gym too long, but every so often you need to just let your body... chill.

Talked to some delusional dude who:
- pretends to have dieted on 200 cals a day for 7 months.
- pretends that he often gains 20 pounds in 4 days.
- includes waffles and mac&cheese in his days of effort.
- is worried that shitting once a day is not enough.
... and of course he's absolutely unable to question himself, nor will he talk to a doctor, as he says he's contemplating suicide.
Nutrition/fitness/science are domains where people are so superstitious and illiterate, it's insane. Probably causes tragedies. Very concerning.

Nutrition is such a pain at times.
I know I'm not eating poorly but damn am I struggling to find the effort to meal plan in the evening.
Going to start cooking things in the morning when I'm motivated before the gym. Gains are so decent at the moment, getting so many compliments and I'm a back to a 32" waist.

I've actually been trying to lose weight and get in better overall shape.
I'm 5;10, 168 lbs
Looking to get to 160 or below. I was 120-140 for much of my life, until I hit 30 and metabolism dropped. My shoulders came in late as well, but that helps since it gives the weight something to rest on. So, when clean-shaven, I looked 19 when 28 for a good time.
New Diet: Protein, Legumes, Vegetables, and fiber fruits. Still some carbs. Cut out a lot of the sugar. Heavy on the turkey, chicken and pork with legumes. Favorite new recipe is ground pork with zuchinni noodles, acorn squash and toasted pepitas.

Mixed Berry and since there was a deal Pumpkin Pie
kind of scared about the pumpkin pie...promotion flavors are usually basura but won't know until they get a chance to soften a little bit, they came in the mail hard as bricks
But I generally like a lot of the fruit flavors-Apple Pie, Mixed Berry, White Chocolate Raspberry
I find the chocolate focused flavors to be a little hit and mixed. I like cookie doe and oreo cookie flavors though.

I'm not starting from zero though, but I hear ya. Just do my normal weekly routine then?
I thought maybe a double chest workout would make them keep their fullness for the week off.
The "pump" does not that last that long. If that worries you, just do push-ups before you go out but I doubt people care for the difference. It makes sense if you're Zac Efron and you're about to shoot a scene, but in this case also refrain from drinking water for a day. You can sprint for the last 10 meters, that won't take much time off your marathon record.
