ask yourself if you just need a program or if you actually need a coach for your goals
there were really 4 main things for me
1) how similar our schedules were so i could lift with them around because i had a lot of form stuff that needed to be optimized
2) how they communicated feedback in person
the fact that so many people in fitness seek online coaching is asinine to me. most likely you are getting 1 of 3 or 4 template programs they have made up, and sporadic feedback on form videos
3) how open they were to my input in the programming
there are some things i see in other lifters programs (from highly revered coaches) that i train with that i just flat out don't believe in. me and my coach have a more collaborative process. if i tell him we need to swap out an exercise or a rep scheme for something i think is better he's typically fine w/ it. except for Bulgarians. I haven't been able to get out of those yet.
4) what kind of experience they have had
a lot of people tend to think "oh why would i take advice from someone i'm already stronger than." has fitness always been their world or do they understand balancing a career + fitness? what are their experiences like with overtraining/injuries/setbacks/bad meets/stalling/etc so they can help me process the grind of it all.
the one thing i didn't really care about was what their clients performance was like. at the end of the day the successful people in powerlifting are generally just built for it. good leverages, good frame, good natural strength, etc. i've yet to see a coach make a good lifter out of someone that didnt already have the natural tools, eating habits and dedication.
you're an athlete so you already know how to execute. you probably just need a specific plan moreso than a coach unless you're going to do some type of competitive fitness
New Renpho scale says I have almost 200lbs of muscle mass. I started dropping weight recently and all these old veins/striations are starting to pop.
I haven't done deadlifts in a decade so asked a mate to spot my form and correct me today. Very successful. Started light @60kg, felt it was too easy, so we went 70kg. Decided to pump volume and ended up doing 12x10 without fucking my form.
Mate hit his PB at 160kg so wins for everyone today.

Was expecting to be stiff af today, but fuck me I'm literally at the funeral in the casket family walking by crying stiff 💀
My biggest issue is I think I can walk into the gym after a 12 hour shift doing manual labor and think I should be able to squat all my usual weights with no belt or sleeves after pre exhausting with extensions and that if I don't do that all my gains are gone. Also while being in a caloric deficit
Thanks for all the advice and pointers fr. I'm not used to starting from the ground up like this.
Shoes definitely helped - but lol running while skinny fat was an experience. Barely a mile and I'm thinking about balance the whole time.

I've been through so many fitness influencers. This is the first one where I've learned, applied and seen results from his content. Wish I had seen him when I started instead of Jeff Fake Weights and Optimal Dorks.
my coach got me doing heavy ass Weighted Planks on Mondays and Single Arm Farmers Carries on Tuesday rn this shit is ASS man if I laugh too hard its painful lol
I've been walking around like I got a prostate exam with an entire fist this week. Really bit off more than I could chew Monday night. Today is the first day my entire lower-body feels normal again.

Just tried sprinting for the first time in a year, fuck me that felt stiff and slow. Nice reminder of how good it feels to have the sensation of moving against the wind through nothing but the power of your own body though.
Gonna try and find somewhere flat and isolated enough to do nothing but sprints until I tire myself out, seemed like it was working muscles in my stomach that aren't being touched by just running normally. Been going on short runs around the neighbourhood in the dead of night in the last month or so since I'm very self-conscious about my exercise, it's cooler, I'm up and alert at this time anyway and it avoids foot-traffic.
What's the best warm-up routine for intermittent jogging/fast walking? I'm wasting the first half-mile or so just getting my knees loose. Probably a bad idea running on pavement with stiff knees, but that'll be the NHS's problem when they pop.

Deadlifts giving me some immense energy for cardio after getting a bunch of sets off. Legs never feel this loose doing anything else.
Idk how bodybuilders do it man these 3x20s about put me in the grave
Hack squat
Leg press
RDL machine
Leg extension
Lying leg curl
Even at my peak of training for aesthetics I never did that much volume. I was about to puke

Come on dom, I think we all know exactly how they do it 😂
Lot of those guys on juice can barely get up the stairs much less do 20 reps. That's more in the realm of guys who worship Chris Heria

What's your trainer doing to you?

He will enjoy that
My bro used to be a distance runner and had a rest hr of 30. Big stress from the nurses in the hospital when they saw that.
By Batong Go To PostAye, running and meditation does that, think I've seen mine go to 36
The daywalker, your heart beats once every two or so seconds, crazy. I never been into running, but started trail running recently.

next meet is on the books for December gonna try to hit 485/330/600 at 165 lb
currently at 418*/308/485**
* i can comfortably hit that w/ a 3 sec tempo and 2 sec pause in the hole now so I know I have ~440 do or die on squat. tech is so on point
**hopefully bagging 501 deadlift on Thursday. it'd be nice to hit that to wrap up a year of dedicated powerlifting having hit all 3 of my initial goals

missed 501 on deads at the lockout. that was a bummer
did hit 408x3 on squat w/ gas left in a couple reps in the tank today though. havent hit that since the meet February and it was a grind just for that 1 rep then
