I have some work to do
I never feel anything on a row machine other than my core being tired of being so upright.

By domino Go To PostBeen dying to get over 300 on bench and I really think I could've did it today but my coach wouldnt let me try 303 smhYeahhhhh I could’ve did that shit I hit 304 today 😂
297 still a 5 lb PR but man that shit wasnt satisfying
Glad to finally be in the 300 club on bench now to just tighten the tech up to comp standard

Congrats man. Good luck for the rest of the year
im trying to get my squat back to 350 still but goddamn. breaking apart my form over the past few weeks has been more draining than the actual work
Smashed my finger racking a squat barbell. Drew blood and cracked the nail so now that the finger is wrapped in bandages/cushion I can't really use my middle finger much to grip so I guess I'm gonna miss a couple days of working out
but I also haven't taken a rest day in 4 weeks so maybe its a sign

Joe Bennett is awesome if you dont follow him and youre into hypertrophy you should
pendulum squats are so hot right now
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostHow different is that movement from a leg press machine in terms of muscles worked?
Compared to squats? Pretty much same thing for the legs except for stabilizers, core & back gets nothing. If you're just trying to build your legs you can use the leg press, there's old school bodybuilders that didn't squat.
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostHow different is that movement from a leg press machine in terms of muscles worked? The arc pushes you into a knee flextion better than a leg press and its easier to bail out of
By data Go To Posthe got cbum doing like 6 movements in 1 rep of a leg extension boy bodybuilders are different lol

#yogateacherapproved👌
took my February squat and bench openers for triples today
now if only i could get my deadlift progress to keep pace instead of being inconsistent as hell
good ankle mobility gang

By DY_nasty Go To PostI'm all in on barefoot or near barefoot lifting now. Looking at something for jogging too.
Hoka or brooks
By DY_nasty Go To Post😂 everyone I know who jogs recommended Hoka today
It's like an orgasm for your feet.

By DY_nasty Go To Post😂 everyone I know who jogs recommended Hoka todayContradicting yourself there buddy but yes those kind of shoes will give you the bounce effect but they also won't activate our ankles nor spread the toes.
I use Vivo barefoot at the gym but still mostly use Hokas for my running sessions. Although I do run with my barefoot shoes on the treadmill at times, but if you wanna go almost minimalistic for running you have to tread lightly, because that's where injuries will happen.
Especially when your knees and other ligaments and muscles are not used to that kind of change.
Talking about ankle mobility, my bro's foot got caught in the turf during football yesterday. Twisted his ankle back behind his leg and end up snapping his fibula.
Dude went home before he went to the hospital because the pain was so minor he thought he just twisted his ankle and pulled a muscle in his leg 💀
Doctors scratching their heads why he isn't in agony as the break was 45 degrees across the bone and basically left 2 spikes in his leg. Ankle needed setting, too. Hopefully he's going into surgery tomorrow to have a clamp put in to make sure it heals straight. Thankfully no serious ligament or tendon damage.

The good news is I've gotten my lifts on point and gains are skyrocketing
The bad news is I'm killing myself on every exercise now. Only hobby I know that gets harder the more you do it

I got Clifton 9s and Challenger 7 GTX for trail/grass.
The only non-Hoka sneakers I wear now are basketball sneakers (LeBrons for 220lbs+), and if Hoka made those I'd rock em.

I don't get a lot of steps according to my fitbit, however the steps I get are generally from trail runs, sprints or playing basketball, so of the 10-12k a day like 8k of them are in cardio or peak zones.
By Batong Go To PostOuch speedy recovery for your bruv and get him back slowly
He's getting some anxiety because he's supposed to have surgery but he keeps getting called to push it back another day. He just wants to get it done so he can at least start cycling again in 4 weeks
So for the longest time I thought my issue was recovery, but now I'm thinking its just stiffness and flexibility issues in general.
Does that sound like a mobility thing? Maybe I need to just stick to form and focus on mobility altogether for a month or two.

w/o knowing more about your goals/issues, but also from personal experience, i would bet its a combo of a bad warmup and an issue w/ your stabilizing muscles. weak adductors/abductors, glutes, front/rear delts, etc. i'd say do a whole month block of work like Larsen Press, Spoto Press, Pause Bench, Tempo Squats, Pause Squats, Pause Deadlifts (at like 50-60% of your maxes) rather than standard S/B/D. also as you gain more flexibility those new areas will be your weakest points and those exercises really target those.
also the Adductor/Abductor machine is fire. just avoid making eye contact w/ anyone while youre on it lol
the warmup is more up to what works for you to get you loose. everybody i know does something a little different but i usually hit 3-4 accessories before i actually start my compound(s) for the day. basically enough to actually develop a sweat. some days i can just hop straight on/under the bar and go to work though.
Could be a bit of both (strength and mobility), modern society means our hips are normally out of shape, and all that sitting will mean tight hip flexors and ultimately feeling like you have tight hamstrings or back issues.
I've been in a cut and so I haven't really been deadlifting since I feel like it's too much of an energy tradeoff but decided to do some yesterday.
Since my nutrition has drastically improved this year, it took me months to get 405 at 240 bodyweight to even budge from the floor. I was just practicing rdls yesterday at 210 bodyweight for hypertrophy . Did 315 for 8 reps pretty easily and was like hold up lemme try something.
That 405 flew off the ground. I sent the video to my former trainer and he said I moved it like it was 135. So now Im sitting here like well shit I can probably hit a 200 pound shoulder press by the end of the year and a 315 bench by March
And I haven't been strength training at all. All this hypertrophy training and real nutrition has just gotten my mechanics really on point

I might have to dump Nike altogether, the last few shoes I've gotten from them have been killing the mid-part of my feet for the first 15-20 minutes I wear them. I use LeBrons for basketball, and goddamn it feels like I've got cramps in my feet when I wear them, and I have some Nike ACG Mountain flys that have started doing it too. When I put on the Hokas it goes away completely. I'm gonna try some inserts with my Nikes before I dump them, but for basketball sneakers I may switch to Adidas or NB.
By domino Go To Postwhere is your bench at rn? i bet you can get it by Thanksgiving if you start rnI haven't used the barbell for benching in about a year but my 1rm was 255. With dumbbells I usually build up to 220 for about 6 to 8 reps. Honestly I've been using that just to conquer my fear of weight flying when I lay back on the bench
My leg drive needs work

I did primarily dumbbell bench, you should be able to bench 275-295 now if you're using 110s.
What split y'all running? I'm doing chest & tri, back & bi, shoulder& traps, legs then rest. Chest was ahead of shoulders for a long time so that's why I give shoulders their own day. My body fat still too high to get a good idea of my bicep growth but a chest vein has recently started to become visible
By domino Go To PostSmoked 485 deadlift today 🥵How much of a struggle? Sounds like you'll be at 500 in the summer
Couldn’t get that shit off the ground 2.5 months ago

i i think if i went to 495 instead of 485 i couldve got that. i tried 501 after that and couldnt break ground w/ it but i was fried
Monday: Primary Bench

Bro is finally getting surgery for his broken leg today. Getting a plate put in on his Fibula to hold it in place whilst it heals, and needs a screw in his ankle to realign his foot back to his leg. He has some ligament damage but it doesn't look like he tore or snapped anything. Crossing fingers. Been a fucking shit-show with the NHS getting anything done.

Has the surgeon/gp talked about making his own choice of removing the screw afterwards? I guess it obviously depends on how it heals after surgery but I took the decision to remove mine after 12 weeks.

Yes. He he has the choice further surgery in the future if he wants the clamp removed if it causes him discomfort in the future, but they typically place them with the intention of remaining inside the leg.
The screw I'm not sure about. He's in surgery now, so I'll find out in a few hours after we're allowed to see him
