Felt so good to actually get in a gym again. I like the precautions they’re taking too
Did not feel good not being able to get 225 up on bench 😂. But we move again finally instead of just trying to minimize losses

By domino Go To PostFelt so good to actually get in a gym again. I like the precautions they’re taking tooMy gym is open but I can't imagine squatting with less breathing air and also dealing with it for an hour or so. And yea bad idea to try and do your reg lift numbers off top after a layoff, made that terrible mistake one day and almost fainted.

So we have to wear masks up to the gym and as you walk around but once you’re at a station you can take it off. Temp scan when you walk in. I think capacity is 30 people rn but they said they’ve rarely had more than 20 in at a time so it’s not like folks are on top of each other. Overall it seems safe enough.
Man we don't do none of that shit . Granted it's a quiet gym. We had temp checks for like a week and that's about it
Played my first game of indoor 5-a-side football yesterday, since February.
Took 10 minutes to gas and spent the next 50 light-headed. Cycle fitness is definitely not transferable, those 2k+ miles over the last 6 months haven't helped me keep any sort of football fitness :K

Well I forgot how to do plate math over quarantine and it was actually 205 I was able to get up instead of the 185 I thought. So I don’t feel so bad about what I was able to maintain throughout everything
First day of this power building plan I’m doing and I’m already ready for bed and OD hungry

So training one muscle group a week has been holding me back for years. Since I've been able to go back just been trusting my body with what feels right in terms of recovery, there are some muscle group that I can hit three times a week others I need full five days rest. HOLY BATMAN at strength and muscle growth in like 6 weeks.

Weird that as most work out programs suggest one muscle group per day (that I've come across anyway) say 5 days per week.
I've dropped 20 lbs during quarantine, but I probably got to lose another 20 to hit those really low body fat numbers that I want before I start bulking again.

My BF% is still too high. I eat out way too much at work and spend too much. I think I might try going back to fasting for dieting and financial reasons. It's fucking hard though. I get hungry as fuck.
225 Bench byke. Ready to push way past that. 275 by the New Years?
Squat and DL lagging. Been focused moreso on cardio to get back in sport shape so I usually just don’t have the gas heavy on either of those

It's impossible to get advice on deads online. You get 8 different grocery list of 9 different things in response
By Splatt Go To PostAnyone have experience with fasting?
I take psyllium husk in the morning along with whatever caffeine spikes I choose (black coffee or caffeine pill) and then fast until 1pm. It's really encouraging to have a days worth of calories available to you that late in the day. My first meal is always super protein heavy, usually steak or chicken with brown rice and veggies, so I end up with a lot of calories leftover to indulge with by dinner time if I choose.

yeh, 16/8 and 24 hours. Lots of water and be prepared for the first couple of weeks to really suck. Hit that Green Tea.
By domino Go To Post225 Bench byke. Ready to push way past that. 275 by the New Years?Aight I was too ambitious with bench but now I know where I stand. I felt like I was going to burst pushing 245 yesterday. I can see from here progress is going to be slooooow

Hyperextended my knee playing soccer the other day. Hoping it’s something that’s just mildly annoying for a couple days and not the 2-4 weeks it said on google,
I'm still hovering around 200 bench. But I'm doing 5x5s on it now rather than ORM. 185-205 on the bench depending on the day. My legs are my real problem area. I've actually made some drastic improvements on my shoulder strength.
Also started doing those decline leg raises on the little bench thing? That shit tears my guts UP

ayo I tried deadlifting and I don’t think I ever want to do it again
I feel like I got hit by a bus and I only got up to 315. I feel like I should’ve been able to get more

By domino Go To Postayo I tried deadlifting and I don’t think I ever want to do it againStopped deadlifts ten years ago when I realised I did it slightly wrong. Good when you have got the form, but (potentially) dangerous if you push it and not doing it right.

By data Go To PostDeadlift people are the most insane people at the gym. They're right up there with crossfit people
yeah i can't see myself doing it often. at least not the conventional style. trap bar maybe.
I was trying to cut but my arms aren't as big as I want and I look great in a tank and am too pale to even try to show abs. I don't know what I was thinking😆
Deadlifts are the single best lift you can do unfortunately it's a dangerous one as you get older. Form is key and also try not do 1-3RMs if you older. A weight belt is key for older gentlemen. Deadlifts gave me the biggest gains by far than any other exercise.
By Lupercal Go To PostGyms closing here again, I was just back at my pre lockdown form and weights.Germany is also most likely locking down a few things. Talks are today and gyms are supposed to be included on the list :/
Guess I'll just enjoy the remaining days.

Below video makes a lot of sense imo. Going to start doing some dedicated quarter squat depth stuff at higher weights in addition to full depth squats.
I’m still absolutely washed from Monday deadlift/squat day
That workout really popped my whole week 😂

I always feel like I'm doing deadlifts wrong but they completely take the wind out of me. I sweat like a pig doing that shit even on 5x5s.

fuck man I need a regime that shakes off the stiffness after football. First few games back I was rapid and limber, now after every game I'm creeping down the stairs like an old lady checking for an intruder.

Also what are you doing after the game to recover?

First few games back I was rapid and limber, now after every game I'm creeping down the stairs like an old lady checking for an intruder.Hip stretches, internal, external rotation, quads (leg against wall), and some soft hamstring stretches and then calf (also against the wall). At least 30 seconds (maybe up to a minute).
Thank me later.
Deadlifts are great, it's a bit annoying warming up for them but it's worth it even though they leave me exhausted the next day... speaking about deadlifts, had a new 1 rep pr yesterday at 150kg, think I could have gotten 160kg but I don't like risking it with them.
Also started physical therapy for an neck/shoulder injury I had... 5 years ago lol. Private health insurance is great.
