Got a free New York Sports Club membership, might go back to the gym, but might just do machines instead of free weights since I think my bodyweight training is a much better substitute.
I've given up on deadlifting. At least barbells. I'll stick to singe leg kettlebells. This is the second time I've seriously hampered my progress pulling something from a deadlift. And I don't even deadlift heavy. Maybe I'll try going back when kettlebells/dumbbells don't give me any strains anymore but its just not worth having to take 4-5 days off and the back/hip flexor pain.

Should do specific exercises for that area first.
Started a new gym yesterday. $10 more but it's like 5 times bigger than my current one, low traffic and has a bunch more equipment. Like a horizontal leg press, so I can alternate and do machine hack squats instead of regular ones twice a week.

Going to start working with a trainer once a week again for a couple months. Don't really want to spend the money, but I think it's the best way I fix this deadlift situation.

Started noticing things I was messing up on that I couldn't notice just by feel. So I decided to record my squats and could tell every single time I put pressure on my toes/ball rather than my heel.
Depends on who I’m working out with and what day it is.
During the week I workout with my old assistant and her pace is so much faster than mine. So we get thru in 45 mins what’d take me about 75 by myself. I like to play on my phone a lot between sets. She doesnt play around.
On the weekends when I go by myself it’s about 90-120 mins because I double up on Legs and either a Chest or Back focused workout. If I’m locked in and not on my phone its about 75 mins.

I've been munching double meat salad boxes from subway a lot lately. Just got to sternly tell the server you only want a handful of lettuce otherwise they'll pile 2 kilo of that shit in the box.
so i was working legs yesterday and i kept noticing this HS kid and his dad watching me. and every so often his dad would point at me, maybe say some shit to his son and mimic whatever i was doing.
in between sets, the kid comes up to me and asks how to get his legs like mine. he's going into his senior year this fall and he's not trying to go back w/ stick legs and a big upper body. normally if i have my headphones on i really dont like to be bothered but i humored him. and as i got into it i'm like fuck it. let me give him a walkaround the gym and show him everything i do on my leg day, why i do it in relation to my goals, and what it works. the kid took hella notes (i actually just gave him all of my current workouts) and was super appreciative of it.
i finish up my workout maybe 30 mins later and his dad comes up and thanks me and we shoot the breeze for a bit. apparently the dad had been trying to crack it into his head that you have to do more than just curls in the gym and he just wouldn't believe it unless someone else told him, so he sent the kid over to me.
i hope i see them more this summer and see if the kid actually follows any of the advice i gave him
