Joined a new gym 2 weeks ago. Its been 3 years since I was taking the gym and fitness super seriously and a year since I was going to the gym even semi regularly. Unfortunately I never quite stopped eating like I was doing twice a day sessions. Currently at a massive 135kg fully clothed. Starting slow with 4 sessions a week, joined this new gym partially because they have loads of room and equipment for conditioning so I'm trying to work that in too.
Discovered the gym's Power Plate today.
wew haven't felt this loose for time. Ankles aren't stiff like usual. Incredible machine.

I can do a fair amount of chinups unassisted but only a few pullups
So I've been supersetting assisted pullups with lateral pulldowns and that's been a decent help

I probably need to go down on weights in general. When I was with a trainer he'd have me go to muscle failure which had some results but I feel like I never get range of motion which makes me extra tight afterwards
I stopped lifting weights a few years ago and switched over to body weight training, mostly cause my shoulders were starting to break down from heavy weight lifting. I do pullups, dips and various pushups with a weight vest (50-75 pounds) and have lost some size for more definition, but I saw a picture back when I was into heavy lifting and it makes me kind of want to go back.
I was 265-270 pounds there and lifting very heavy, I'm much lighter now but at the same weight coming off a cut I was noticeably bigger than I am now. I might get back into lifting to build more mass and drop down to around 215 (230-240 now), just worried my shoulder is going to pop.

I think it's dependent on the kind if joint pain you're experiencing.
For me, slow movements felt like tightening a bolt. Biggest difference I saw personally was working out everything around the problem area first. I also brought a healing pad just for joint as well to stay loose the night before.
There's some dope triflex liquid form I got from GNC that did wonders for me as well.

I aggravated it doing light upright rows with dumbbells, the next morning I rolled over and my shoulder popped pretty loud. I also think I had some imbalances, my front delt was overdeveloped compared to the rear, once I started losing mass my shoulder started to feel better as it got smaller. Still, my shoulder gets fatigued really quickly doing even simple things.
I'll give that triflex stuff a try, I'll exhaust every option before thinking about surgery.

I'm killing myself to get there, but I'm finally actually seeing results. I've had a lot of health (mental and physical) issues that have made losing weight really hard, but consistency and a lot of doctors telling me to do this or that has started to click.
I'm waiting for some medical test results today that I'm actually scared to hear, but in the mean time, I hit a good milestone today with the weight loss. Here's a before and after. After was taken last night after a run.
Long ways to go, but I'm going.

Holy crap.
Transformation looks good, Jeff. You're going to feel so much better being shape.
I'd post befor/after pics but I'm ugly and shy.

Down 40 pounds today. 40.4, to be exact. It's probably more, since I've offset some of those losses with muscle gains, but whatever the actual number is, I feel good.
Those medical tests came back not quite how I wanted them, but I'm not ready to talk about that openly yet.

Congrats on the excellent transformation dude, you look great.
Keeping my gym consistency up in winter is always a challenge. The constant darkness really dampens my enthusiasm

Really need to get back in the gym. Starting to pack on the weight now that I'm 31. Every since I moved back to the Caribbean I've totally dropped the ball. Next year I will get back I suppose lol.
By Mangoverboard Go To PostCongrats on the excellent transformation dude, you look great. The 15 minute walk to the gym when it's this cold is the hardest part of it all, especially now that the heaters are on indoors.

keep it up jeff.
i respect anyone that walks/runs to the gym. i ain't about that life. i tried it when i wrecked my car this summer and lets just say i ended up not going to the gym much at all for that period.
i'm finally getting used to playing soccer at my current weight. it basically took the whole season (last game is next thursday) but i finally got that weightless feeling back when i run so i'm nicking loose balls left and right now, where i felt a step or two slow earlier this season. i think last night was my best all around game yet.

By data Go To PostAnyone doing intermittent fasting? I've got some questions.I've tried it. It actually starts to feel prety good after a while, but depending on how reliable your daily schedule is, it can be hard to do consistently.

yea, I don't eat breakfast or lunch really, and then eat pretty much what I want without going too overboard for dinner
By domino Go To PostWatching this Ronnie Coleman doc on Netflix. I can't believe he can't walk now.
That was a good doc, shame it whitewashed over sterioid use.
My friend, who seems to be able to talk me into anything, urged me to put this on Instagram and I went with it. I figured since it's out there I can share it here. I HATE sharing pics of myself, so this was a huge leap for me to do...be kind. I have a long ways to go, but I've come a long ways.
Excuse the messy bathroom counters, that's not the point here.

adam pls
Don't do it, man.
I'd only ever recommend staying natty and using just creatine and whey if you want to.
Also, don't do gear, kids.
Been dealing with bursitis in my elbow, but I'm almost over it. It's been stupidly long since I've been able to touch weights with my upper body and I'm going bonkers with restlessness. 150 jumps at 36" as quickly as I can get through them and I actually feel it in my shoulders and core the next day, which helps with the fact that I can't do much upper body stuff due to the bursitis. I'm getting sick of running and cardio. I can't wait to get back on weights.
I'm planning to get swole af this year. Question: is it possible to improve cardio and build mass at the same time, or is it one or the other, but not both
By Smokey Go To PostI'm planning to get swole af this year. Question: is it possible to improve cardio and build mass at the same time, or is it one or the other, but not both
Yes, it's not only possible, the two are supposed to go hand-in-hand if you target multiple muscle groups at the same time like you're supposed to. (Try carrying a Costco 40-pack of water up four flights of stairs while keeping your back straight and your breathing relaxed, for example.)
I do all my weight training with those Costco 40-packs, actually. 40 pounds is a lot heavier than you think, especially once it turns into an endurance exercise.
By Smokey Go To PostI'm planning to get swole af this year. Question: is it possible to improve cardio and build mass at the same time, or is it one or the other, but not both
Depends on how swole you're trying to get, like you trying to look like a bodybuilder? If you trying to get in shape and look good without a shirt you can do both, boxers & sprinters are a perfect example of muscle and cardio being built at the same time, but if you trying to look like a battletoad it's best to just do heavy lifting then cardio to cut.
It depends on the end goal though.

Not really familiar with the prices in the US.
I pay 20€ per month, which is like 23$. We don't have a sauna though. Open 24/7 and you can get free drinks.
There are obviously more expensive studios around, but they're not really worth that extra cost here, unless you really want a good coach.
There's even a cheaper variant called McFit (fitting :P), but those studios stink and the audience isn't really my thing.
