By ReRixo Go To Postfelt like ig.v threw game 2 so hard with those buybacks at the end lol…I don't think anyone does. It's dumb.
not sure I like the single elim format
Single elim at least makes matches feel really tense, but it robs you of a good lower bracket comeback story.
Wings looked lost in that series, didn't even think EG played that well tbh. Hyped as fuck for EG v VP though.

As a CS fan, I would like to apologize to Dota fans.
I'm 100% certain that Valve got rid of the double elim format for Dota because us CS fans kept asking "why can't our tournaments be more like Dota". Instead of doing something we wanted, they made your game more like ours.
Won't be long until your group stages aren't re-seeded to reflect current standing of the teams, and then you guys will have to deal with 3 Top teams all being in the same group.

Nah
Boston was about Valve's 4th choice venue / location. It's why it's so rushed. Every part of it. Their first 3 or 4 choices got knocked back... and everything got delayed. They didn't even want it in the USA. But they ran out of time and had to settle.
If they had got their first or second choice venues this would be a double elim tournament with a full group stage.
They relayed this information to teams but not the public. Don't know why. Public only know because some team owners talked about it.
that all sounds worse than my incorrect theory. your premier game shouldn't have venue problems
maybe now they know that the world doesnt run on valve time

By RobNBanks Go To Postthat all sounds worse than my incorrect theory. your premier game shouldn't have venue problemsValves e-sports management is terrible. They really needed to have the venue booked before TI. But they apparently didn't, being busy with planning that.

They've supposedly got the next 2 booked now.
But yeah, that's bit of a shit show. Really poor showing by them.
I mean, each of these events must bring in 10's of millions for them. How they don't have this planned at least 12 months ahead ....
ok I thought this major was pretty underwhelming so far, but that game just now was something else lol

But details seem .. sparse. Outside of Kiev and April.
pretty hyped for 7.00 even though I barely play these days lol

(lol at Alliance since 2013)
It's back to DotA boot camp for EVERYONE.
I hope the MMR reset is true. The new Talent Tree mechanic has changed everything.

I must be default set to ignore. This is the second time in 2 days that someone has said the same thing I did as if I hadn't.
Would be very happy if the MMR reset turned out to be true, in a bit of a rut right now. Think the talent tree mechanic could have massive ramifications.
I don't know how useful an mmr reset would be, but ranked is going to be a mess for sure lol
I think I'll use this as a chance to switch to quick cast too
overall patch looks cool. ui is mostly good, but minimap looks harder to read at a glance :/

I feel like I'm going crazy
Wanted to get back into Dota 2 a little bit because of the update but for some reason I dont have a hotkey to learn abilities and I don't see the option anywhere in the hotkeys
where the fuck do I set it?
edit:
wait they removed it? wtf

Lol E.G.
Don't ban Sven, keep picking Winter Wyvern, and never give your mid any of his best heroes, brehs!

TNC so badly on the backfoot that even winning a massive fight 4-1 doesn't give them a great chance :(

Oops, lol.
That was an incredible comeback. I didn't think LFY could be touched.
Took a 14 month break from DotA. Didn't even watch 2016 International.
Decided to watch this year. My excitement made me fire up the game again.
Decided to play some DotA 2 after the international. 10 matches, combination of all random, single draft, all pick. Lost all but 2, which we only won because of early abandons. So in other words, no wins because of anything my team and I did, but there were plenty of crushing losses.
I'm almost 34. I don't have time to play a game that takes an hour with no payoff. Burned my entire two off days losing. My wife will come home today and ask me how my day off was today and I'll say miserable because I tricked myself into playing DotA again.
This was a strong reminder as to why I quit. Too much investment for minimal return.

Basically why most people stop playing dota when they hit 30. You just have too much other stuff to do every day to be able to invest the time to get, and stay, good.
Ok I lied I can't quit until I try a game with spec.
Literally the only game that I played that was fun, I was nyx against a weaver. Popped his linken with mana burn at the beginning of every fight. Was a close one but we lost anyway.
I am surprised that people don't play the new Heroes, Arc Warden, Monkey King, Abyssal Lord.
By Hitch Go To PostUse Weaver
Win or lose, tonnes of fun

Monkey King gets played, but ... has to be in the hands of people that know what to do with him. He's completely OP if you do though.
Underlord is ... not an exciting hero to play. Very boring, actually.
I've only played against one underlord who's had an impact on the match, and that was my first match against him
Bastard tp'd his team into our base when we were pushing theirs, and they won
We all forgot his ult :(

He's a de-push master.
I'm surprised we didn't see more of him at TI with all of the push strats in play.
So, yeah, he's just boring to play because you're basically standing there going "no fun allowed".
He has de-push, but the teams that went far in TI drafted lineups that had push, de-push, team-fight, ganking, and mobility. Underlord feels like he doesn't add much to those lineups that couldn't be done by another hero who either does it better or does more.
Man, Dota sucks when your pushers don't get the farm or positioning to push
Just lost a match because we couldn't get the vision and tankiness we needed to win a fight under their T3s, so kept fucking our pushes up and giving up too much ground on the counter. Me and BS were tearing through the creepwaves, but Sniper wasn't following up to do the building damage we needed
Second and last time I buy aghs on Slark. Told everyone to stay with me to get the shared ult effect, completely ignored

3 losses in a row :(
Played well the last 2. Lost this last one cos nobody could be bothered to either buy a stun, or time it so we could take NP down. Skull Basher 25% stun chance is a lie. 2.5% more like.

I decided to straight up YOLO. I ended up winning when I stop caring.
Unranked though.
Game is infuriating my brother at the moment. Bloodseeker is the hero he uses a lot of time, but it's either banned or picked before he gets the chance by some drunk spastic who feeds mid with him.
BS is one of the original pubstompers. He's the original character from the promotional artwork. Good to see him ballin out of control again.
I'm one of those people who bans him in pubs. I am not sorry.

By Phoenix RISING Go To PostI'm 5-20 since I started playing again.I'm having a shocker too, won 2 in 10 or something
Why.
Learning that with Weaver, you can still easily lose a game you play really well in. Have become used to just winning games with PA when I play well, not sure Weaver has that ability to terrify opponents away from coming at you or avoiding fights
