So, I came across an interesting article from The Player's Tribune written by Ricardo Lockette. Aka, the receiver who ironically wasn't on the receiving end of that fateful pass in the final play of Super Bowl XLIX. It goes in depth about Lockette's life after the Super Bowl, as well as some good insight about their locker room chemistry. Specifically that of Russell Wilson and his genuine cheesiness.

Good quote:
Now look at us. Super Bowl champs in 2013, back in 2014. I should be thankful. Does that make it hurt less that we didn’t repeat? Hell no. People would come up to me after we lost and be like, “Well, you know, Malcolm Butler made a perfect play. You just gotta tip your cap to him.”
That’s ridiculous. That’s like saying someone shot your brother, but it was a really good shot. It doesn’t make it hurt any less. Nothing can take the pain away except getting back there and winning another Super Bowl. I’m lucky to have a tight circle around me, but this offseason was really, really tough. I had nights where I just stared at my bedroom ceiling. I didn’t care what other people said about me, but I was really worried about what my teammates thought.

By DY_nasty Go To PostThe NFL is NOT allowing Seau's family to speak at his HoF inauguration“We’re not the NFL, but the Pro Football Hall of Fame,” said David Baker, executive director of the Hall of Fame. “Our mission is to honor the heroes of the game and Junior is a hero of the game. We’re going to celebrate his life, not the death and other issues.”
word.
and other issues....
I've seen people try to defend this, citing a 2011 rule that says family members of deceased inductees can't give speeches at said player's induction.
Pure stupidity of the rule itself aside, I would be more willing to accept it as a logical defense... problem is the PFHoF's executives decided to open their mouths to tell us what this is REALLY about.
Cowards protecting their cowardly selves and other cowards from the painful truth. I'm honestly wondering if this will kill the NFL in the next decade or so. Not this particular incident, but just the fingers-in-ear behavior the NFL & its partners (ESPN included) have towards the subject of brain trauma & it's effects on post-football life.

21 million american dollars for a QB that can offer nothing when his defense isn't doing anything.

You make Wilson whole. That team not winning or going to either superbowl without him, regardless of how good that defense was.

You must not watch football, then.
By DY_nasty Go To PostRuss is hyper conservative Cam
shit, he might not even be better than Cam
lol they are two different QBs... Cam is much more Vick and Randell than Russ.. Russ is more Steve Young. Besides Cam averages like 300 yards more per year in a offense that requires him to do everything. Why make Russ do more than he needs to do when you have a great RB and a great D?

Stahp.
By blackace Go To Postmust not have seen that GB game then…Yeah, I saw the best defense in football hold an injured MVP to a russell wilson type of game. I also saw that he blew the game. 4 Ints, but let's all remember the one TD that one it in OT. GOD IS GREAT.
By jWILL253 Go To PostYou must not watch football, then.yeah you're right i don't. lets just ignore the context of what causes him to experience the level of success that he has. fuck a stout running game and what was one of the best O lines in the games and a great defense. it's all russell all day err day. I'd take Cam over Russell any day of the week.

when???
PFF had them ranked 19th last year, 27th the year before, 20th the year before that.

You must have seen how at least 3 of those INTs hit receivers in their hands before being picked off then, right?
Nah, you must've missed it. Just like you missed his 10 4th QTR comeback victories, and his 15 game winning drives, and the fact that he's the winningest QB in his first 3 seasons, etc.
Yeah, that great offensive line was the reason he did all those things, with studs like... Alvin Bailey and... JR Sweezy... Sure.
BTW guys starting Year 2 of the SL&ENT Yahoo FF Play or Die League Anybody interested here post.
Jwill253 who you on NeoGAF? I used to be a regular NFL thread guy before the perma and I don't remember you too much--Did someone just say they'd rather have Scam Newton over Russ? The fuck?

I was finally ready to tip my cap to a Patriots SB, but they turn out to have been cheating again. Truly an unconscionable organization.

Russ shits all over a healthy Slash and are nothing alike.
I mean, I think Russ is good - and that he should get paid. Seattle though has no reason to give him that money.

? that's broken logic.
the Hawks need Russ badly
By blackace Go To Post? that's broken logic. For all that money they're supposed to cough up for him, they could buy some receivers, a game manager at QB, and solidify their defense
the Hawks need Russ badly
Falcons, Cleveland, etc - plenty of teams out there need a QB to be their best player or center piece. Russell is a damned good player but if he leaves that team stays on top of the food chain because their defense is gdlk and their running game is maximum
how they going to buy some WRs when they let a great QB walk? No good WR wants a shitty QB... besides Beast only has a couple years left I expect a more spread O in the future from Seattle and Russ is the center of that

the odds of them filling the hole at QB with that defense and system already in place are a lot higher than russell showing out for a team like the redskins or something

they can franchise the kid for a year but the Hawks going to pay Russ
I'd franchise him myself. What happened to all that goodwill and hometown discount talk. Turned into "less money but just make it guaranteed" then became "GIMME MONEY"
Until Marshawn leaves Seattle, don't megabucks the dude.

Franchise tag would be even more expensive in the short term than the offer they currently gave him anyways.
Also, hi. I'm a Seahawks fan who actually remembers what a Seahawks team looks like without a decent QB. If Russ leaves, we wouldn't be "at the to of the food chain". Instead, we would be Bills West, or Cardinals North. Celling is one or two games over .500, and no hope in the playoffs.

Full Ravens camp starts tomorrow. Public night practice at the stadium on Monday, August 4th.
Anyone else going to their clubs train camps? Barring the weather, they can be a good time.
