Ipswich my favourite promoted team in a while. Not just bad Pep clones or defensive as fuck. Got a bit of grit and speed about them, like it.
Amad the standout today for me, did well. Everything else mediocre - Bruno had a poor game. Lot more control when we had a midfield with some energy, and nice to see Rash score.
Glad Ruben’s here. Will be nice when we have some good defenders back. You can absolutely see the difference today between a coach and squad who have been together for two years and one who have done it for two minutes. Ipswich are good.

By bud Go To Postbielsa's leeds was sensational in that first season in the prem.
Yes. But fuck Leeds.
Mainoo's return will help us a fair bit. We've built nothing through the middle as neither Erikson nor Casemiro are comfortable receiving the ball facing their own goal. Was pretty much the same when both went off and were replaced by Bruno and Ugarte.
Having a player like Mainoo that's comfortable with turning his marker in deep areas will help us open the pitch up. Still probably need another player that's comfortable making passes from deep, but that's a problem for another transfer window/academy promotion.

Same old same old
Think Amorin learned Marcus is not a 9, not with back to goal in this system.
And having Shaw back and keep him fit for a while, specially in this system (LCB) might be the good news.

Shaw-Martinez-Maguire/De Ligt (until Yoro’s ready) is the vision.
Would be inclined to say Hojlund should be up top and Marcus gotta fight it out with Garn
Team that finished the game a lot better than the team that started it. Onwards and upwards and all that.

Still with Licha and Kobbie to come in too. This is the way.

---------- Bruno ------------------ Eze ----------------
Aït-Nouri --- Mainoo --- Ugarte --- Mazraoui
------ Shaw ------ Martinez ----- Yoro ------------
---------------------- Onana --------------------------
We need to sign a proven striker in the summer if none of these 2 can get going over the next 6 months.
As much as people want to give Hojlund time, I don't think he's good enough.
Interesting to see he played Mazroui at LCB. I think that's more due to lack of options as Yoro probably starts there.
Ideally I want to see:
-- Yoro - De ligt/Martinez -Maguire/Martinez--
Dalot - Mainoo -- Ugarte - Shaw
------ Amad - Hojlund - Bruno -----
Amad is too much of a threat to be played at wingback when he's having to play in his own half for the majority of the game. If we dominate possession then our wingbacks can be wingers. Was a shame he never really had any opportunities to run at their LB after the first goal.

The final 30 minutes were very encouraging.
United were able to contain Ipswich and actually pin them in their own half.
The team is crying out for match winners.

By Laboured Go To PostSomething Amorim touched on there which I genuinely think is a problem at United specifcally is the number of fucking interviews he's done in a single week. No other manager at any other club is subjected to this shit at this kind of frequency and the club needs to stop it (and to be clear it is the club's fault).I was just saying this the other day. Amorim should just walk away, and like you said, get the club to put a stop to it.
By Cleff Go To PostThat's interrupt Amorim to talk to Ed fucken Sheeran.Abolish PL football.
Amorim is saying all the right things in these interviews. Hopefully he can get this team performing well.
Moreirense just eliminated Porto from the Portuguese Cup.
Porto haven't been knocked out of the Cup for 19 straight rounds, since the semi finals of 20/21 against Braga.
It's also the first time in 16 years that they've lost 3 games in a row (2-1 to Lazio, 4-0 to Benfica and now 2-1 to Moreirense).
This is also only the 3rd time Moreirense has won against Porto in 32 matches.

By domino Go To Posthe gonna be alright
The three man CB system needs a fair amount of athleticism to work right. The right and left sided centre backs have an especially tough job. They were frequently sprinting out to close down Ipswich players in the final third.
Jonny Evans found that role particularly hard. He's 37 and just doesn't have the speed to get there in time. He was late to close down a few times and was either turned by an attacker or the ball was laid off and a pass played into the box. Need Martinez, Shaw and even Malacia to be fully fit to play that role the way Amorim requires.

Please stay fit.
By n8 dogg Go To Posthere come all the overreactorsCan’t expect him to make gold out of shit, he’ll need some transfer windows.
By Dr3up Go To PostComing week will be a good stress test for Arne.Facing two relegation form teams is a stress test?
Really don’t want Amad at RWB long-term; he was good today but makes no sense to have someone so dangerous focused on defensive duties. Get Mazraoui there when we have some CBs and then Rashford, Garnacho, Amad, Hojlund, Zirkzee are competing for two positions. Need that at a big club.

The midfield duo was the bigger surprise. I also thought Mount might get a game but that was a daft idea.
Can see the rationale for him going for a side that were around in training - Mainoo and Mount coming back from injury, Ugarte travelling from SA. We’ll see some big changes the next few games.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see him try Casemiro as CCB until we get some people back.
