Dios mio, the Porsche Turbo S has a 0-60 in 3.1s AND gets 29MPG?? Dat mechanical grip:

Really? I'd be waiting on the new Civic and Focus. The Civic has been a bad buy for nearly a decade now and while the new Focus is a nice car, there's better cars in its segment for better money.
Not sure i could ever get an Alfa knowing their build quality history. Would feel like such a bad decision every time i had to get something fixed:(
Like the Mazda 3.
Hell the Mazda 3 has been a superbly better car than anything in its class for 10 years now. Everything else is just pure shit.

And the Focus isn't really out classed by it. you're splitting hairs for the most part. Are Americans getting the European focus yet? i know you had some bizzare derivative for the longest time.
The civic HAS been under-equipped for the last 5 years or so, yeah. But Honda's still maintain insane re-sale value.
Focus' interior is still shit. Mazda outclasses it in handling, styling, fuel economy and pricing. No one has ever said the Mazda has out done the Focus in handling. Only cars i know that are better in handling are the Golf and the A3. Both of which are a lot more expensive.
What? Everyone has said that. Mazda3 is the best handling car in its segment.Uhh. I've been reading a ton of comparisons, never ever heard that said by any reviewer i've ever read.
As with the Focus, the 3’s finest attributes are its suspension and chassis. It weighs in at 2892 pounds, or 107 pounds less than the Ford, an advantage evident in curves. Turn off the stability control and you’ll find that Mazda doesn’t have anything to hide. The 3 delivers handling that’s more neutral and better attuned to driver input. Its lighter steering is just as precise and alert on-center as the Focus’s, and its firm, pressure-sensitive brake pedal inspires confidence. Supple damping massages the transition between compression and rebound, setting the 3’s ride apart from that of the Focus. The suspension tune is compliant without compromising handling, a masterful balance that is rare for a car of this size and price.
Giri...bruh, wtf? The Mazda 3 has been the long time winner in the handling department and the new one is no exception.
And yes, the Focus and Fiestas we have here now are the global cars that everyone else gets. Most cars now are becoming global platforms that are available all over the world in the same shape and size.

Mazdas have typically been the most fun (funnest?) cars to drive in their class. They also bring a number of upmarket features and firsts to lower class cars, a subtle "screw you" to the bigger automakers that keep those for the glitterati that can afford a higher priced ride. But that driving and tech excellence didn't always compensate for the polarizing super smiley face and lackluster interior quality.
It also gave me a chance to really flog the 3 and check out the handling. It's crisp on corner entry and has a nice tendency to rotate the rear quicker than you'd expect a front driver to; I almost think it was lifting an inside wheel on some turns. It feels alive.
What's great is that this is not the tuned performance model. It isn't the Mazdaspeed. It doesn't compete with the Focus ST. It's not a Golf GTI alternative. But in the corners it's just as good as these two highly lauded hot hatches.
Golf GTI and Focus ST == Performance model and Mazda's non-performance model is touted to be AS good. The Speed3 is in another class altogether.
That said, it was also the car that most caused us to glance around the room during our deliberations and silently concur that it was the one we could most enjoy driving every day. Let's listen in on the conversation: Evans: "Great-handling car, very tossable with quick steering and very good feedback. The Mazda3 is easily the most fun vehicle to drive at the Proving Ground. Digging the big seat bolsters." Martinez: "A few hundred feet into the heart of downtown Tehachapi, I could already tell it was a solid car."http://m.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedans/1208_40_mpg_compact_sedan_comparison/
Picked best car among the lot.
Test drove my final two choices for a new carALWAYS CHOOSE ALFA ROMEO
Alfa Romeo Giulietta Distinctive
Can't decide which one I will get but the Alfa was fucking awesome to drive. It's probably about 3-5k more though, but it's probably worth it.
ALWAYS
Alfa is 8k+ more, the dream is fading
Ended up with the Megane GT Line diesel. Was impossible to get a Giulietta in my price range and I'd have to choose a boring colour like silver. Drove the Megane home today, felt like I made the right choice, it's a fantastic drive.

Jaguar is getting everything right these days.
Georgia heat and humidity is killing my '05 G Coupe. Engine starts running hot any time I slow down in traffic. Fan is running fine and radiator is in great shape with plenty of coolant. No leaks or fluid on the floor. At a loss on what else it could be beyond the car struggling in the temperature.
About to hit 80K on it. Babied it all these years but thinking of getting a new car perhaps early as next year. Would like to go for another performance coupe. Any suggestions beyond the standard 4 series coupe and A5/S5 which both might be a little out of my price range?
Might swing by the local Infiniti dealer and see whats up with the Q60 coupe but I've never really warmed up to the styling.

Will post some on the weekend. Still need some window tinting done. The handling is fucking awesome though, very little body roll around corners.

You're goddamned right. A lot of the problems and issues people are having is from unintuitive user-interfaces. Jaguar stuck to the basics, a simple touch screen interface that, while the fastest or fanciest looking, is extremely easy to use even for the most tech-challenged folk in the world. Plus having physical AC controls among a few other physical primary buttons still present is a huge plus. This is the reason why Infiniti dropped so hard this year, I could see the Q50 being a nightmare, as it boasts two gorgeous touch screen displays...and even I had some quirks figuring it all out. On top of that, the first year cars need a lot of software updates, as even I experienced some issues with my loaner's volume not adjusting until I restarted the car.
Too many cars have taken everything too far. I hate Lexus' infotainment system, the mouse tracker is so horrifically unpleasant and aggravating to use, it skips over items way too easily, forcing you to make constant changes and adjustments, the point where you are focusing too hard on being unusually gentle with it. It does have a wonderfully large and wide screen, though. Resolution could be higher, on the other hand.

Model S :3
The Q60//G37 Coupe is due for a new model next year. So avoid that right now. Definitely consider the Lexus RC350 or RCF though. Looks incredible, and dat Japanese reliability.
Regarding your G35, I suspect you have a coolant issue somewhere...perhaps in a clogged hose that isn't letting enough of it in when the car is idling. I'd Google around and see what you find

Should have posted this earlier, forgot it was sitting in my skydrive
Not the best picture. It's one of those reds that looks dark in the shade but bright in the sun.
Speaking of Nav units, Google getting into the game, which is good for everyone especially since Apple is already on board:

Love Love Love my Speed3
Totally forgot to test drive it when I went dealership hopping last weekend. You and alpha both had good impressions.
I did test drive the Cayman s again and really liked it (again). I was actually going to get a look at the Cayman GTS, but they aren't getting one until the end of the month at one point they'll give me a call to check it out.
Sounds pretty great from the videos and text I've watched/read. I need to get closer to making a decision. The problem is all of these performance cars feel great ...they are 6 years newer than my 335. So I have to try and filter through certain things in my head .

The Cayman was on my mind to to crosshop buy then I tried option it out and stopped before I finished the interior. Ridiculous pricing. Something like $4k for leather.
The GTS is supposed to come with a lot of the sport options and other stuff as standard. If I went that route (or any new Porsche for that matter) you'd definitely have to watch the options. Shit will run up to a 100k before you know it.
Random question... so tonight I noticed that the display on my dashboard, where the odometer and speedometer and everything else is (dash lights?), would turn on when I started the engine but after a couple seconds would turn off. The car works fine otherwise.
I'll take it to a mechanic soon, but is this a sign of my car battery starting to die or something? Never had anything like this before...

If your battery was bad, your car wouldn't start the next time you went to start the car. It seems like an electrical issue.
What kind of car?
I'm dumb and the problem was operator error.
I hit some stupid switch in my Matrix that dimmed the dashboard when at night or when the sensor kicks in
Thanks for answering though, AS.

LMAO. Damn dude, I thought about asking to check your dash dimmer, but didn't want to be presumptuous and assuming such a silly error.

There's a reason I don't do any of my car maintenance...
Thoughts?
FYI, 2200lbs, 200HP, eat your heart out BRZ/FR-S.

This may sound dumb but I've always thought the Miata lines looked feminine. I thought the same of the previous gen Boxsters. Bet it's fun to drive though. I've never driven a 2 seater for an extended period of time.
I like the BRZ/FRS styling way more. New Miata looks better than all previous miatas I'm familiar with but it's exterior doesn't do much for me.
Test drove a mazda 3i/s, a 2015 wrx, and a 2016 outback limited today, and the wrx stole my heart. The mazdas were totally underwhelming and though the outback was REALLY comfortable, it just didn't grab me as something I'd be excited to pay 30k for and drive every day.
Never bought a car new before but I've read this thread on reddit -https://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinance/comments/36pnp0/3_tricks_car_salesmen_use_to_take_your_money/ - front to back and noticed some really slimy, manipulative shit at the mazda dealership. The subaru people must have read the thread too because they were not pushy and very nice to deal with.
Anybody have the wrx? Do you regret passing up the sti? The sti would squeeze my budget really hard considering the insurance jump even though my record is spotless.
