By rerixo Go To Postchrist 7800x3d prices have exploded. pc market is a shit showI did and it’s quite alright in terms being just a functional case. Good temps, good noise levels, good front I/O, etc.
vapes did you end up going for the fractal ridge? how do you like it? think i've settled on it too. finally going to build a new rig after black friday (not that i'm expecting many useful deals)
My inner SFF snob is a little conflicted with it due to the cheaper build materials. Steel side panels, plastic on the front trim, etc. it’s a far cry from the all aluminium panels or my past 3 cases. It was also like half the price compared to them too though, so I can hardly fault it on that front.
The only thing I will fault it on is the design of the case feet for horizontal layouts. They should’ve flipped the case over on the opposite side or redesigned the feet to be taller. As it is, the GPU exhausts out the same side the CPU and PSU intake from, and it has limited clearance against a flat surface. Not ideal, but easy enough to work around.

another one I was thinking about was the cm ncore 100. seems quite good value for £240 but there are some complaints about the cooling
By rerixo Go To PostI was thinking about mounting it horizontally underneath my desk, does that seem okay given the exhaust setup?Use a bracket that spaces it about 2cm from the desk and you should be good to go. I’d also mount it so the side of the case with single vent is facing up towards the desk.

The dual 140mm fans won’t really struggle to bring in adequate airflow for the GPU. The opposite side of the case will then have unrestricted intake for the CPU/PSU and freely exhaust a lot of the GPU’s heat without it recirculating back into the case.
Not too familiar with the Cooler Master case, so I can’t comment for or against it. If I were to go for something that style though I would look for a NZXT H1 V2 on sale personally.

I did also consider the nzxt h1 v2 but looks like they don't make it anymore, it's oos everywhere.

only thing I'm not sure about now is picking a motherboard. is there any point in going for the new x870 motherboards? is it fine to skimp out on motherboards? I don't plan to overclock or anything like that. the asrock A620I lightning is on the other end of the scale, but it's a bit annoying that the second m2 slot is only gen 3. is there something in the middle that you'd recommend? does this asus board look like a good deal to you?
