By markao Go To PostAll three goals today came from errors in a position, you just cannot make one.the team still has a lot of key points of weakness.
You have the ball at the back, your full backs both are wide as possible and high on the pitch. The moment your midfielder due to a bad pass or a duel looses the ball it's 5/4 vs 3 {3 forward + 1/2 midfield press vs 2CBs and one defensive 6)
If you cannot get that in to players mind you will not make any progress. Few new players, so might take a while, but those that made those errors should already know better.
ETH doesn't do enough to mask those weaknesses, I think its one of his blindspots - it makes us easy to play against.
For me, the greatest obstacle is the lack of goals - Ole was not a top manager, but his team had tons of goals in it (Greenwood, Martial, Rash) all firing, with Pogba and Bruno behind them. Goals change games, and we don't have enough of them - and the more chances missed, the more confidence the opp get.
Ugarte will help us in launching attacking transitions and in winning the ball back. He's a better athlete at this stage of his career than Casemiro is.
But we're still going to run into the same problems we have in building from deep positions. He's not an aggressive passer so won't frequently get the ball into the forwards feet. So we'll see Onana launching the ball again. In fairness to him he's a great long passer, but that tactic is never going to ensure possession either. So expect more back and forth games where we'll concede soft goals because we can't starve sides of possession.

Mine was a more match specific comment. And for a team that has so much problems scoring, you cannot keep giving them away for almost free.
Haven't seen a lot from Ugarte, but him having working legs is already a step up. When are Shaw and Rasmus back, you can really use them right now.
brøndby classic
Their banners about punching and kicking copenhagen fans got taken down. But the brilliant mind Sean Klaiber, was out defending it. '
Sometimes football is violent, it is what it is, and i like it'
they also wore it on their shirts of course
By KimoSan Go To PostMadrid have done a whole lot of nothing for 40 mins. Look very flat in the middle.Time to bring another LW.

I'll save you the effort: it's not going to make much difference.
Also very funny to talk about a team that plays such a risky system that getting dispossed once in midfield ensures we concede, with the systemic upshot being we also score no fucking goals whatsoever.
By Hitch Go To PostDid that Szpboszlai chance even contribute to our xG?
he didnt shoot did he? so no.
which is yet again, a good reason to why xg for single matches is idiotic. but i get it for ten hag at least. man is fighting for his job.
By bud Go To Posti'm checking transfermarkt and i'm seeing ten hag has spent 660 million euros to get to… this. Before he coached his first game, you could just tell. He doesn't have it in him. No aura or vibe. Horrible manager.
lad.
Also, Casemiro has always sucked. But that's a different discussion.
By Punished Go To PostMo just said this is his last year at the club.Where does he rank all time for Liverpool
By markao Go To PostAgree that you do not create a lot, or hardly anything and that it is one of the biggest areas for improvement.I feel you. what we're seeing is an incomplete squad still because, it only takes one or 2 players to be off form and we become goal starved. Goals alleviate pressure and give you control - its part of why we always look so harried and desperate even in the instances where the game is going or we are winning. Thats because when we are winning, its never more than by a single goal.

Rashford's 30 gola season masked waaay more than I could have imagined. and now that he has regressed, those clutch moment to monet goals that WC players like a Salah or Haaland can get you are missing in the moments when you are on top.
As for Ugarte, I will wait and see but he was in the Copa America team of the tournament and knows how to win in the league most physically similar to the Prem. The right footballing management structure is in place, they spotted players like Kone and Zerksi, so, I imagine they will continue working to filter the squad - but we need a bags man up top, we need to move shaw on for a more reliable fullback.

By Koko Go To Post🐢!What a pass KING
What a pass by Fede.
Mazraoui, De Ligt and Dalot all had pretty decent games individually. Which makes the fact we conceded three goals even worse. Solid performances are being wasted through sloppiness from others and poor tactical decisions.
This is a reality that some United fans have chosen, by wanting to keep the bald clown. I'll never understand.

By Kidjr Go To PostStill so confused by Onanas positioning for the salahs goalAlways seems to be too close to the line making himself look smaller imo
By FortuneFaded Go To PostGod, could you imagine if they actually get Southgate.
Lol, like its up to United fans what manager the club keeps.
If there is a better man for the job available - I doubt anyone would object.

By Oddinho Go To Postwtf is we doing with these contracts. I want to keep Salah. Dude is a fucking cyborg.Maybe Boehly was onto something when he started signing players up until they can get a free bus pass.
By Xpike Go To Postso annoyed about yesterday i didnt watch a single match afterSame. Football is dead.
congrats on the title city
start watching some other league, where 115 charges dont win.
i suggest serie a, they are all corrupt there.

By Laboured Go To PostTactical masterclass. I love how we even play a lower defensive line than under Ole.
This is insane in the context that we split the possession pretty evenly. The build-up just didn't exist.

Am kind of wondering how long he lasts this season. Given that he just signed De Ligt and Mazrouai, it looks like the board is planning to give him some trust. Also they got rid of his arch nemesis Sancho, and I think letting McTom go is another indication that they're backing him - he's the type of player that I think would have been retained to work with the next manager.. It's no new revelation for me to say that the fact United failed against Liverpool looks nearly identical to how it happened in the past is about the most damning critique you can make of him.
Was a bit of a shit summer for them to be trying to find a new manager
There were plenty available who are better than ETH, but nobody so good that you'd definitely want them in charge for the foreseeable future. Without the cup win you'd obviously just ignore that and sack him anyway, but I can see why Ineos are very reticent to hire a manager they don't have complete faith in, whether they rate ETH or not.
Wouldn't be surprised if they were turned down once or twice as well without it being leaked to the press. The type of manager they want might be pretty unaligned with the type that would want to manage them after 11 years of being a basket case.
Maybe the footballing operation side will improve to the point that they could get in an elite manager in their prime. Right now they can't offer recent or imminent success.
Thinking about it in those terms, it's pretty weird that Klopp joined us. We looked even more of a mess off the pitch than we did on it in those last 15 months under Rodgers.
