By Cleff Go To PostLego you are depressingly ScottishAgreed. I just can't abide his Scottish optimism.
Thinking we can finish top half of the table... pfff. 6th even! Nonsense.
Shame we couldn't get Ugarte. Has ability to win the ball that Casemiro no longer possesses.
Glad we've walked away though. PSG clearly looking for too much for a play that's out of favour.

If we don't find a very good Casemiro replacement now then last season's 8th will seem like a fond memory by the end of the season.
To be clear, were we in any way competent, we would've spent the Mount money on one last season.

You've got to love some of these transfer websites, apparently Arsenal have been beaten to signing Xavi Simons and Julian Alvarez. Two players we've never even bid for.

Some word that we’re signing the Georgian keeper from Valencia and loaning him out long term a la Chelsea and Courtois, possibly to Bournemouth.
GKs are tough to find so it’s some relief if this is true, and we’ll have a replacement for Alisson ready when he leaves.

Alvarez looks to be done at a final figure of £81m.
Record sale for City
We paid £14m in 2022
Hmmm, who shall we go buy 🤔

Berge is a new name. Would be a good back up midfielder, but not sure he's cut out for a regular starting spot.
Those massive contracts we were handing out have come back to bite us. Couldn't shift Maguire last season because he was looking for a payout.

By Cleff Go To PostGreat business from City this. After his run in the World Cup, I did think there would be no way he'd continue to be happy as the back up striker option.
City prob already have a replacement lined up. They were linked with Eze last summer, but he's not really a striker option. Wirtz was another name butt that'll prob be the KDB replacement if they go for him next year.
I don’t think City need a striking partner for Haaland. Dunno who I’d go for if I were them. A right back maybe?

He's a good rotation option. Not the player that would solve any of our outstanding issues.

Sander Berge was highly rated 4 years ago and considered a huge coup for Sheffield when they got him.
That's the last I heard anything positive about him.

That's fine but if he's passing it to players like McTominay I can tell you with a high degree of confidence what will happen next.

By Flutter Go To PostPray for Horse.I'll be happy if he can keep it consistent with stopping the ball going in. That early season start from him was very worrying. Thankfully seemed to fix up mid-season onwards.

Berge signing is fine with me. PL proven, a standout player in poorer sides, would be relatively cheap and offer a bit of depth. Low risk low reward maybe. But fuck it.
Ugarte is a hatchet man. Enrique doesn’t want him. Would be big wages.

He's damn good. I figured City would be in for him if Ederson left but I guess we'll see what happens with that..

Did Berge really stand out in his poorer sides? Feel like I heard his name a lot more during his transfers than at any point he's been on the pitch.
Don't think any Burnley player did much last season to show that they should be in the PL or other top league. Or manager for that matter.

I always thought he was one of the better players for Sheff Utd whenever I watched them. Admittedly watched a lot less non-United football last season, but whenever I did catch Burnley he was okay.
Wouldn’t be starting for us. Someone to help relieve Mainoo and carry the ball late in games is okay with me. Still need a Casemiro replacement. Not sure Ugarte is it. Good in the tackle but far too slow for the mad transition football Ten Hag plays.
Am I getting him mixed up or didn't he almost play wide / wing back for Sheff Utd? Didn't really watch him at Burnley much.

They were quite positionless under Wilder really so he wasn’t particularly fixed. Remember he was a good outlet for them to carry while Mad Lad Chris Basham made his way up the wing.
