People forget too quickly that United could have easily won without that freak offside. Tough unlucky loss for United but the control must have been pleasing to see for United fans. Bright days ahead for the hag squad imo.
By Killer7 Go To PostWe were shit. Brighton were the better team overall and definitely the more dangerous looking. We had 2 counters in 90mins and that could have got us 2 goals but can't think of anything outside of that which the team offered. It's boring football too. He's stacking the midfield and got us set up to play counter-attacking football. It's just Ole 2.0. Shit ain't gna work.
Mainoo and Dalot were our best players again. We desperately need another midfielder to bolster that area. Kobbie and Casemiro were wrecked near the end and couldn't cover the ground required to keep Brighton out.
Extremely dissapointing. Still can't seem to see out those last few minutes of a game.
Real shame that goal was ruled out especially since this team doesn't score a lot of its chances, no doubt had an impact psychologically.
There's still so much work to be done. I think another out and out no9 is imperative.

It looked like a mid table team vs a mid table team. United have quality players but it just doesn’t have that big team energy.
Mentality midgets.
Brighton will give anyone a game at home. The problem with United is the lack of ability to string together wins. To do that you need to be able to see games out. Be resolute and disciplined in your defensive set up. We've become too used to chaos and sometimes it can work in your favour and sometimes against you.

Rashford needs dropping too. Lad hasn't justified his starting XI position in either game to be playing ahead of Garnacho.
Also need to sign a LB. Dalot does a job just like Trippier for England, it just isn't balanced without a proper left sided player there.

There have been some definite improvements in how we play this season. Our pressing from the forwards and midfield is better and we're creating chances through winning possession back high up the pitch. If we don't win the ball we're still forcing teams to go wide to try and take on our fullbacks who are pretty good in one on one situations. Opposition teams aren't creating as many chances against us because there isn't a massive gap on midfield to run through.
But that comes at the expense of energy. We're clearly dropping off after 55-60 minutes and allowing teams back into the game. Our finishing has been poor across both league games so where we'd expect to be further ahead when our energy drops, we aren't and are dragged into a scrap to hang onto a lead/win a game.

Rashford has lost his greatest asset, his yard of pace.
That burst is gone, maybe it's all the injuries.but he shouldn't be this bad at 27.
Cleff is spot on. The high press is energy intensive. And when Mount goes off, no one else has that kind of engine to keep the press going.

The two false nines set up works to keep midfield solid in possession and when pressing. Need improvement when we win back possession as neither Bruno or Mount is a great box crasher.
We're going to see that dropped once Hojlund returns. Might help for our scoring conversion, but will maybe take a hit to our press?
Bah more questions. Have a bit more hope this season than near the end of last anyway. Just don't know if there'll be the patience to allow Ten Hag to see the transition through.

Was mostly watching F1, but Manu definitely look different to last year. Forward press better, bit to dependant right now on Mount. But also general defending deeper on the pitch, just switched off (twice) in second fase and that cost you today.
Creating chances and fresh legs after 60/65 mins still need a lot of work
And lol City, oh no pen :(

Two false nines works against teams who will dominate the ball.
One of the problems is that the players aren't as well drilled to do what they need to do with the necessary speed. So passes are under hit leading to offsides or a good counter breaks down etc.

Just seen that it was Antony who put in a weak challenge in the build up to Brighton's goal.
Genuinely isn't good at anything now.
