Frankfurt also looking at him. Lindelof is such a strange one. He's not been terrible but he's by no means been great either. Was probably at his best under Ole. I can't really identify anything that he's particlarly great at. Sort of just ok at everything (apart from filling in at full back - awful).

Greatest game of all time.
By Laboured Go To PostJust renew TAA and VVD, replace Salah with Antony and job done. Hughes is a hack. Give it Laboured 'til the end of the season.
Think this is a fairly likely scenario. Except replace Antony with Anthony
By Dazenheimer Go To PostCity are killing the product tho - currently on course for a 5th league in a row. Those a farmers league stats. The Premier League has never been more popular or successful than now in terms of viewership, attendance, money and City are by essentially every metric the biggest PL team in the US now. They (supposedly) spent too much of their owners' money and it took an illegal hack to bring this apparent act to light probably isn't a story that plays well in most places outside the UK, especially when most people are annoyed at how cheap their teams' owners are. The PL will probably want to be careful with this. I don't think they'd deduct enough points to put City in the Championship.
Not giving a heavy sanction or punitive measures ensures that the prem loses face.

Tbf that was an entirely different football club that sadly no longer exists.
CL: 70 euro per month.
Serie A: 20-35 euro per month.
This is getting insane, so if anyone has a suggestion it would be appreciated. Otherwise aj pi ti vi it is.....

Shanks is probably right, City aren't remotely important enough to warrant protection from the consequences of their actions. Unless they get off on the majority or all of the charges - which does not seem plausible, see https://x.com/themagic_tophat/status/1824012940808253951 - any attempt to cushion the club will be what really poisons the product. Every sport understands this which is why bans are always lengthy
Fuck Disney+. This season they added a new "premium" plan and put most matches behind that extra paywall.

You're probably not wrong about the second part, but the 00s are irrelevant to now in terms of success and popularity.

How many in real life city fans do you know?

I think there is a difference between a big team and a great team. A big team is a team that has always had huge fanbases and has won a lot. That's not City, that's Man Utd.
A great team is a team that is winning now and is hard to beat, but that has not always been like that. That is not Man Utd, that's City.

And there's a massive difference between a great team and a great club. City are a shitstain on the sport.

I really don’t think City are the biggest PL club in the US. If I had to hazard a guess, it would be one of Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea, just based on the way those teams are covered on US networks.
Liverpool are the most watched team in the PL last year, and by extension probably the world? The numbers for Klopp’s farewell dwarfed City’s title celebrations.

I never knew any Arsenal or Chelsea fans growing up. At my school it was
1) Man United
2) Liverpool
3) Coventry
4) Villa
and then the occasional wildcard.

If I had to hazard a guess, it would be one of Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea, just based on the way those teams are covered on US networks.Liverpool are definitely not the most watched PL team in the US at least -- that is City. This article from February:
Liverpool are the most watched team in the PL last year, and by extension probably the world? The numbers for Klopp’s farewell dwarfed City’s title celebrations.
Data from Nielsen, compiled by sports media analyst Larry Johnson, reveals City were the most-watched English team in all competitions in the U.S. throughout 2023, with their total average viewership hitting 36.9million. Only Club America of Mexico’s top-flight Liga MX were above them in the table.https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5240429/2024/02/08/manchester-city-popularity-in-usa/
For context, Manchester United, who many consider one of the biggest teams in the world, ended 2023 with a total average viewership of 13.4million, finishing below Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.
This article from two weeks ago with a nice tidbit about Korea:
That was actually last year during a spectacularly successful tour of Japan and South Korea. Successful in the sense that it earned the club $20million and that 23,000 people turned up just to see them train in Seoul
According to Nielsen, City have more active users — those who have interacted with a club’s content (liked, shared, commented etc) in a given period — than any Premier League club in the States. Using the slightly less current ‘followers’ metric, which counts those to have liked a Facebook page or followed an Instagram account, for example, City are among the top three in the world.https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5678898/2024/08/05/manchester-city-us-premier-league-team/
Many clubs launched WhatsApp channels last September and in that time, City have raced to the top of the charts with 29million followers — only Liverpool and Manchester United come anywhere near close with 20million and 18.3million respectively , while no others have more than seven million.
Success breeds fans and recently no one is more successful than City. The sport was a bit more niche in America before and now that it is becoming less niche so the new fans will follow the club who is on top, who is a main part of a popular TV show, etc.
