Klopp is taking a year off. It is very funny that adult journalists aren't taking him at his explicit word on this.
By n8 dogg Go To PostAbsolutely. By far the best England manager in my lifetime. Remember the doldrums of McClaren? Remember Sven taking an even more talented side nowhere past the QFs? Bloke is a good one, who ultimately didn’t have enough coaching acumen to take us over the line.Nothing was as incredible as Roy hodgson managing England.
I wouldn’t say it was any time wasted. We went from a semi to a final, then had a real argument that we should have beat the holders and finalists in 2022 (the pinnacle of Gazball), then, for all the absolute shit decisions he made this summer, he had still earned the right to get there.
Would be my first choice. Smart game manager is what we need.
Phil Jones taking corners was a thing of beauty.
By bud Go To Postsouthgate’s legacy being “he’s a good lad” sums it up perfectly.Better than Slot.

Not having you take one of LvG's greatest achievements away from him.
By bud Go To Postsouthgate’s legacy being “he’s a good lad” sums it up perfectly. That's not his legacy. English international football was fundamentally broken at the point he took over.
The players didn't want to be there, they didn't really communicate, they couldn't get past their club loyalties. It had been that was since the early 2000s (if not earlier) and, as we saw, there was absolutely no chance in hell we'd have ever done anything in a tournament as a result.
It's completely different now, it feels and functions like an actual team where everyone is together and invested. Yes, on the pitch Southgate's limitations have been clear so we haven't quite got over the line. But pre Southgate, the line was a distant dream, we didn't and wouldn't have ever got close to it.
By bud Go To Postsouthgate’s legacy being “he’s a good lad” sums it up perfectly. It's a very English mentality. The nation is so beaten down and used to mediocrity it's stunning to me that genuine opportunities for greatness being squandered isnt met with more derision.
Not only has have England's route to their finals been fairly easy. So many nations barring maybe France have been weak in recent years and were there for the taking.
But he brought togetherness and vibes and look at these lads such mates etc.
By Cleff Go To PostI know the first thing I think of after winning a major international tournament is how to do a racism.
Hope there’s some fine or sanction.
By BrentMused Go To PostHodgson was Kane on corners, and that was the least of the problems in 2016Woops
Reasons we couldn't quite win finals: accepting mediocrity
Reasons Man Utd should finish a league campaign with a negative goal difference: perfectly valid

United won 2/3 of the cup finals they were in.
A tournament is not the same as a 38 game league season.
A more relevant comparison would be the nation's league which is actually a league. Oh yeah, England got relegated from that.
Hopefully, Potter is appointed. Who knows, maybe he'll kick the national team's Kane addiction.

By LFMartins86 Go To PostMbappe is so happy. Also his Spanish seems pretty good.Impecable.
He's so happy. Hope his level returns because he was miserable at PSG and lackluster in the last 2 years or so.
Impecable Spanish as well.

Have you paid any attention to the media or anything over the last 8 years. Southgate has had more than his fair share of derision, and in the last couple of tournaments it's actually went to the point of open ridicule.
What do you think people should have done? Broken into the FA Headquarters and dragged him out Gaddafi style because we lost on pens to Italy?
People also forget there was a timeline where Sam Allardyce was our manager instead and all of the horrible bullshit continued unabated.

I'm more into team Southgate has done nothing more than the bare minimum than team Southgate has done good things.
England has underachieved big time having had the best ties on all the big tournaments he commanded. Had you playing awful football with a great squad all around.
FA needs to get Potter in. He's gonna do wonders with this group of players.

They just need a guy who picks players on form, that suit his tactics. A Southgate that lines up with Palmer and Watkins against Spain wins for me, even with his pretty atrocious grasp of tactics and game management
We could really do with another leftback, with Shaw's injury record we can't plan entirely for him to be fit in 2026
Would be quite happy for Walker and Trippier to retire from international football. If Kane can prove that he was just unfit, he stays. If this is just the player he is now, get rid.
If the next manager's formation doesn't suit Foden, don't play the cunt. Same goes for Bellingham tbh, though I imagine it'll be one or the other soon enough.

I hope Mbappe and Madrid flop hard next season (unless they play those cunts City again).
Barca getting Williams would make for a interesting Clasico.
Eddie Howe to England.
Southgate to Man Utd (December 2024 when ETH gets the sack).

Chilwell was so bad the last couple of times I saw him, and he's so injury prone that I assume he's done.
Have a strong feeling that Eddie is eyeing this up. Tindall's already in the backroom sizing up a knighthood.
By Laboured Go To PostHrm.Podence punched the player who said that.
By Laboured Go To PostHave a strong feeling that Eddie is eyeing this up. Tindall's already in the backroom sizing up a knighthood.Timing just feels all wrong, he's just too young. He seems really intense with his day to day work I just can't see it. Feels inevitable that he'll take it one day, but I really don't think it'll be this time, as tough as it would be for him to actually turn it down

i do seriously hate the idea of that.

100% win rate innit.
if only southgate could have kept that up, you would have had a trophy by now.

Should have gone after the last World Cup.
Give it to Beheddie, he's just had two years experience of managing a national team.
