By BrentMused Go To PostAny word yet on whether Uruguayan players can be banned from all football, or just international football? The ruling on that is gonna take a while, its a lot of shit to untangle. I wouldn't expect a final decision before the summer window closes since there'll be appeals and what not.
By Punished Go To PostLook, they gave as good as they got. All parties need to shake hands and move on.CONMEBOL are feckless, they don't want to punish anybody unless they have to they just want to make as much money as they possibly can. Tbh I don't expect any significant suspensions, maybe a couple qualifiers. Definitely not something for Liverpool supporters to concern themselves over. The shit show that unfolded in The Final is taking away the spotlight from that brawl and instead it's shining it on the poor organization of the tournament. Once in an exception, twice is a trend.
By Laboured Go To PostI realise it's early pre-season and Rosenborg are mid-season (even though they are not a good football team), but a lot of the funadmentals (and outcomes) sure are looking eerily familiar. It's not doing much to assuage my fears for the coming season. Would be nice to see basic performances improve from here eh ETH?#SouthgateIn

Betting odds for next England manager

He started his management career with a couple of stints as our caretaker.

I'm sorry.
I know the first thing I think of after winning a major international tournament is how to do a racism.
Athletic saying it's one of Yoro or De Ligt. Deal for the latter is straightforward, but we're prioritising Yoro.
Guessing with Qansah breaking through we're not bothering with a CB unless we can find another Klavan type
No idea who we're reliably linked with this window. Thought Salah woud be rumoured to be going but may well be the case that he's decided to leave next summer and get that sweet signing on bonus in lieu of a transfer fee.

Rather we get the guy wants to come here tbh.
Past experiences have shown Yoro will spend the next several summers flirting with a move away to his preferred Madrid and disrupting the team harmony.
Big mis step by Ineos there.

Please someone tell me Mac Allister wasn’t one of those cumstains singing the racist song on the team bus.
100% the right time. Walks away with a good legacy imo, more for the off the pitch work but the importance of that can't be understated imo. Given a real platform for further success now, and we've had some amazing memories along the way.

Right decision. Thanks for the memories, Gaz. Honestly, summer of 2018 was one of my favourite experiences ever. Loved every minute of it.
Very good stint, and improved a lot of shit that really needed to be fixed off the pitch too. Do think with the England job you need to be a statesman as well as a football manager, which is a diffcult gap to cover.
Maybe two years too late given the way we played, but can't really assume a different manager would have won the tournament so not too regretful that he got the Euros.
Definitely shouldn't have stayed though. What he gained in his subs changing the course of games where always used to be reluctant to change a lineup that wasn't working, he lost in putting out completely broken starting XIs game after game.
Would have been nice if it'd been a former player and something of a joke figure desperate for redemption who'd bought it home, but wasn't to be.
Got pretty fucking annoyed listening to the analyses of the final last night and people treating dropping Kane like it was an impossible choice. If you can't run, you shouldn't play. Everything else is just bullshit.

I've no problem with United prioritising Yoro over De Ligt. He's in that Bellingham/Haaland bracket of can't miss potential. I'd be more annoyed if we didn't try to sign him at all. If he turns us down we at least have other options available.

Absolutely. By far the best England manager in my lifetime. Remember the doldrums of McClaren? Remember Sven taking an even more talented side nowhere past the QFs? Bloke is a good one, who ultimately didn’t have enough coaching acumen to take us over the line.
I wouldn’t say it was any time wasted. We went from a semi to a final, then had a real argument that we should have beat the holders and finalists in 2022 (the pinnacle of Gazball), then, for all the absolute shit decisions he made this summer, he had still earned the right to get there.
By JesalR Go To PostWho's in, Pottah?
Would be my first choice. Smart game manager is what we need.
Anyone who thinks he should never have been given the job must have missed the state we were in when he took over.
McLaren-Capello-Hodgson-Allerdyce was an absolute fucking nightmare run of managers, and much better managers than Southgate would have completely failed to lift us out of it.

Damn I thought that was the point you would have said you were just kidding.
But if you honestly think his entire tenure has been a "waste of time"...it's worse than I thought.
bro got England relegated from the nations league. Didn't even know that was a thing.
Never looked fluent and fluid despite the most of the players having played together for years.
Vibes will only get you so far. Ole did that shit and in the end had nothing to show for it.

By Laboured Go To PostAnd expectations were so shot by that point that there wasn't even a clamour for him to be replaced.
I think the best thing to happen this Euros was Spain winning with a style of football that you don't have to contemplate your existence to watch. Years of 'This is how international tournaments are won' from Guardian writers can finally be shoved in a hole. Whomever is next has to make use of a great squad.
By n8 dogg Go To PostCompletely forgot Capello lmao. He was shit and all.Never got the feeling that he gave a shit about the team, same when he was in charge of Russia. Looked like semi-retirement.
Terry's racism didn't help obvsly

Even if we'd beaten Spain I'd be livid if it was an approach we retained after the tournament.
