Foden is a problem for the team too as well, unless he gets off his ass and realise what a talent he is for the team.
By Willkiller Go To PostFeels like everyone is talking about us having one foot in the final but I'm not too sure why?But who says that? Are you exclusively listening to Talksport or reading Daily Mail comments?

That's Argentina in the final then.
By FortuneFaded Go To PostBut who says that? Are you exclusively listening to Talksport or reading Daily Mail comments?Neither. But there's 100% a confidence around this fixture that hasn't been there since before...the opening game?
By Flutter Go To PostFoden is a problem for the team too as well, unless he gets off his ass and realise what a talent he is for the team.Glad someone said it.
Only the Spanish midfielder whose name escapes seems to perform outside of the Pep automaton system.
I want to say Rodrigo but that doesn't seem right.
By Willkiller Go To PostNeither. But there's 100% a confidence around this fixture that hasn't been there since before…the opening game? But from where? Not here and not anywhere on the internet that I've seen. You aren't talking to people in real life are you?
By Willkiller Go To PostKane is a problem
Trippier is a problem
With those two things, I still don't see why people seem to be so confident about tonight. Feels like everyone is talking about us having one foot in the final but I'm not too sure why? I mean, I do think we'll go through…but I'm not seeing where the confidence is coming from
Maybe it's because we're penalty experts now? (pls ignore the literal final loss at home on pens)
I’m not confident. Especially when Gaz still won’t play Shaw lol. But Netherlands just aren’t particularly special, I guess.
By FortuneFaded Go To PostBut from where? Not here and not anywhere on the internet that I've seen. You aren't talking to people in real life are you?I can't really point you to anything specific m8, it's a feeling.
People generally seem agreed that the Swiss game was our best performance so far, with the formation change yielding positive results, with Shaw back (lol), Southgate's comments after the game saying they were really feeling the pressure in the early games (and not dealing with it well) but are more relaxed now. There's generally just a positivity and confidence around the team that we haven't really had so far.
I mean, it isn't unwarranted. We are a better team than the Netherlands and we should win, but I'm just not as positive in general after the Swiss game as others seem to be.
If you need one specific example though, The Football Ramble have been very negative...unless post the Swiss game.
By Dazenheimer Go To PostGlad someone said it.Even Fabregas doesnt take that as an excuse.

Now of course, the main problem might be that he just prefers to drift to the center, but we have also seen him just pass the balls sideways or to the back when we know he is perfectly capable of beating his marker.
There seems to be a hesitation on his part to take the game into his hands.
The positivity around the Switzerland performance is very strange. What was different from the Slovakia game? England were still pretty crap, they still had a godawful lineup and formation, they still conceded first and drew in normal time. Only difference is that Southgate made more than 2 subs to try and rescue the shit he created.

Your logic seems to be that 1-1 against Slovakia in normal time and 1-1 against Switzerland normal time must mean that England played the same, but even that doesn't hold up given that Switzerland have better players and were playing better this tournament. If England get to the final and it's 1-1 with Spain after normal time, does that mean that England are playing exactly the same as they did against Slovakia?
Edit: England beat Serbia 1-0, Spain beat Italy 1-0 therefore England's performance against Serbia was just as good as Spain's against Italy.
By Dazenheimer Go To PostIf Foden, Kane and Trippy start. If United don’t sign the players you want this summer, will you start supporting City?
I will be supporting Netherlands.

I don't see the harm.
I’ve heard arguments for there being a god and he heard equally strong arguments for there not being one such thing. I’ve heard people say that if there is a god he isn’t one that cares hide nor hair for human kind otherwise why would he have bestowed upon life this system in which virtue, morality and kindness matter not and instead random chance decides who will live and who will die forgotten in a remote lakebed, their only heirs the stars who in their own infinite cosmos care not for the struggles of mortal beings who require blood and water and do indeed hold their fragile souls in the confines of flesh and bone that is so easily broken by any man or beast who is willing to place their soul on the table, unafraid of judgment from a god who at best views his work with regret.
But I’d believe that god is benevolent and caring after all if England is knocked out of the Euros

I don't think the Netherlands have been great, but they have a couple of players in Gakpo and Reijnders (from what I've seen) who are having a much better tournament than any England player.
Reckon Kane could have a particularly quiet game if he's just stood between Van Dijk and Reijnders. He's not the player he was, but Van Dijk can still bully strikers who physically aren't up to it.
I've given up on the dream of Foden being dropped. The 'he's too good to not start him and try to make it work' narrative is too pervasive from every direction, even if it ignores the fact that he's basically never been much good in an England shirt after four years of trying.

We'll batter Spain in the finals, we'll be lumping balls up to the big man and taking long throw ins and their tiki taka brains won't be able to handle it.

First and foremost, England are still lining up with a passenger upfront, a trash dog on the left, and a now woeful right back at left back. That Foden can now smear shit around the field from a slightly more central position didn't change anything in terms of attack. England had more of the ball and a few more threatening attacks, but it was still pathetic against a Switzerland that are much weaker than England, even if they're better than Slovakia. And it all just came down to Saka having another good game. The three at the back formation didn't lead to a ton of solidity at the back either. Switzerland got lucky with their goal but they still had plenty of threat.
Pickford
TAA Maguire Stones Shaw
Rice Bellingham Mainoo
Saka Watkins Gordon
Is better than the Netherlands team but it doesn’t matter obviously because Gareth

Heimir Hallgrímsson (born 10 June 1967) is an Icelandic dentist and football manager and former player who is the current manager of the Republic of Ireland Men’s National Team.
The 15 year old (will be 16 in two weeks) that Liverpool have signed off Chelsea, Rio Ngumoha, is going to be an interesting follow over the initial Slot reign. He could breakout for them over the next year or two.

Bit reductive. Been coaching since 1993. Did the dentistry alongside playing. Took Iceland to their first ever World Cup.

England is the obvious favourite for tonight when you look at the players on the pitch, disagree that they are a better team.
Still would pick our defensive part, but England's midfield and front line are far better, so much more potential.. Having said that, the amount of real chances those 6 create each match can probably be counted on one hand. And the one real thing we have going for us is that we are generally hard to beat, so if those 6 what they have done so far it might end up being a close match. If they finally do start working together and show up for once tonight an easy England win.
Dumbfries vs Tripz might be fun
