By Willkiller Go To PostSo Everton have only started to reign it in because of the sporting ramifications? The consequences on how fucked the whole club is financially are far past a points deduction. If they don't get taken over, they face administration. If the rules were there to protect clubs from that…they have failed, empirically. What can anyone realistically do if a club is determined to just throw everything away? We can see that the deductions have had an impact on cutting spending in January, and Forest went from ridiculously profligate in their first season to much more restrained last summer. Everton are simply the example; if they have to die then that's a sacrifice I am willing to make
The rules have both not been enough to stop a massive club from racing ruin, while also severely limiting sporting competition.
The answer to why, of course, is because protecting clubs financially was never actually the reason it's there. It's completely half baked at best in that regard.
How have the rules limited competition? They've only just started to be enforced. And let's not forget that two of the clubs now facing ruin, Everton and Leicester, would have had CL campaigns - and the associated riches - in the last 10 years but for the greatest financial cheats football has ever seen
The list I sent - Ajax going undefeated and winning the league and the CL in 94-95 is an achievement. Made quarters in dutch cup.
‘The feat of winning simultaneously both the Champions League and domestic league without a single defeat is a historical achievement unmatched by any other team’

Dunno how anyone can watch Foden and not think he's one of the best in the league tbh. It's just blindingly obvious. Sorry shanksismo
Rodri my pots so far but I watch a lot less football than I used to.

Porto 2010-11 under AVB - unbeaten in the league and also won Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, UEFA Europa League, and Taça de Portugal (lost two second legs vs Sevilla and Villarreal but won on agg obvs)

The league needs more control, they need to be able to say no you literally aren't allowed to do this or that.

In terms of competition, well we're a perfect example. After years of Ashley bleeding the club dry and taking it to the bare bones we've finally got ambitious owners but after 2 full years of ownership we're up against PSR and have to sell one or more of our best players because we're coming up to a completely arbitrary (in 2024) financial line.
Don't get it twisted, I think it's very important restrictions are there to stop clubs like mine who are state owned becoming a complete monopoly in the league, but the currently system is just wrong for so many reasons.
So much I wanna reply to, relio should allow us to send voice notes with a translation ability for our international brothers.
These anti Foden takes have to satire. He might be one of the top 10 players in the world right now. You can certainly make an argument for it.
I think it's very tough to choose between Rodri and Foden but one of them is the POTS IMO. Rodri continuing to chip in more goals and assists probably makes it a little easier to give him an award like this than if he was "just" a DM. Obviously City fell apart when he was out with his red card which further demonstrated his importance (although by the same token, maybe you punish him a bit for such a dumb red card).
Foden now has two hat-tricks this season as a midfielder and some of those goals have been absolutely otherworldly. He continues to raise his level every season and looks really settled into the 10 role but can be made a bit ineffective some games based on a few factors whereas Rodri is just consistently excellent. Rodri has the benefit though of stability as he's always in the same position and his tactics don't have to change much from game to game. Coin flip IMO.

Like I said lads, I haven’t watched much football other than Arsenal the last few years, even been hard to watch any Serie A this year. Will try to watch City next time and go in with an unbiased opinion on Foden.
But the ability to score nice goals will never be something that I will ever put a premium on when a judge a player.
It is why I never judge Saka just on his G/A. Dude is just a menace to defend against. And that is with him clearly not being 100% all season and with a defensive RB.

Yeah, me too. I only watch United fully, with an eye on the odd ‘big game’ and the CL knockouts on my phone. Don’t get old, lads.

I’d imagine your new son is going to make it harder to watch football until he’s able to enjoy it himself, or not enjoy depending on if he also follows United.
Only Chelsea for me and even then not all matches if it’s during the work day.

Fucking hell, England easily gonna win the Euros this year if he is top 10 in the world. England with 5 of the top 10 players in the world because he definitely is not better than Saka, Rice, Jude Sr., and Kane.
