You only need the friend code to match once to add someone to the friend list afaik. Unfortunately the friend list and request/accept system doesn't seem to work properly either.
Don't know why the code isn't linked to your profile rather than being randomised, makes adding people a bit of a pain in the arse.

On the ps5 end I haven't had any server issues this week. Matchmaking still busted.
All I do is just select a mission, wait 30 seconds and usually other people join my ship.

A couple of times I've had the glitch where I've been killed and then can't be respawned at all (almost like the game hasn't properly registered I'm dead).
my most common glitch is in quickplay - i spawn on someone else's ship and get locked behind the wall or fall through the floor. hardlocking the game for everyone lol

Just have to sit there during the countdown timer.

It's crazy how much game devs have been chasing 'that cinematic feel' and this rando third person shooter captures it better than any of them without any story
lol the glaze is ridiculous. it's a "cinematic" TPS from the publisher known for making cinematic third person games

Just tried a robot defense on Hard, they were legit dropping in about five times quicker than we could kill them 😑

The mission where you’ve got 15 minutes to evac civilians? They’re ultra fucked. Doesn’t seem matter what the difficulty is set to, the enemy spawns are too fast to keep up with.

Static defenses and just focusing on slapping those scientist buttons does the job.
Grenade launcher also helps.
I think they downtuned them yesterday but I agree that having someone doing circuits and keeping moving is key.

The frustration I've had with this game is right up there with playing Uncharted 2 on Crushing. Wish I hadn't bothered with it for these first weeks and my honeymoon period could have coincided with it working, whenever that is.

I'll be interested to see what happens with the armour when they fix it.
My guess is atm all armour is rated as medium. I'm not even sure the extra padding perk does anything atm either.

Also feel like Chargers are inherently better designed than Hulks. You can dodge and punish but they're just on your ass constantly. Hulks just W+M1 into you and you have to pray someone shoots them in the back. They're basically a charger and a bile bug combined
I feel like adjustments to the projectile speed of the rockets (so you can dive out of the way more easily) and tweaks to bot aiming accuracy generally would help the bots feel more tuned to the same difficulty as the bugs.
Game's just completely broken for me now. Can't connect to anyone despite the fact I can see everyone's sessions on the planets, even through the friend list. Try playing solo to put an SOS down and it just hangs at the loading screen of the pod going down to the surface.
Guess I just have to hope it's a known issue still and will be fixed, seems like most everyone else though is getting in just fine today.
