Than Williams is what remains, as I don't think AUDI is a better option for the next (two) season(s). Alpine is also in full restructure mode with them dropping the Renault PU, so next year not a place you want to be.
Than '26 new PU rules, you get a Merc in the back and with a more modernized organization structure at Williams, might be best bet. Than in '27 you have seen balance of power and are free to go somewhere else. But yes, that's still a year if not two likely wasted

The current rule set have changed the game, because the top team has a lot less wind tunnel/cdf time. So they are designed for the rest to catch up. McL (due to bad start last year had by far the most time.
Secondly, these car rely mostly on floor downforce. You want to get that floor as low as possible to the ground and RBR was the team that achieved far earlier as others. On top of that they early found a balance between low speed and high speed, again something others struggled a lot with early on. Because those floors are also the limiting factor (cannot get closer to floor/ more performance =bouncing) teams will naturally get closer to that limit. Last time we had ground floors in F1, 6/7 teams ended up winning races, as field became really close.
And of course because rules stay the same, teams will look at what others do and naturally get closer to each other's performances. Not easy to do as teams cannot just bold on downforce, as balance of this generation of cars is very tricky, easy to unbalance.
There are some speculation about to much flex in front wings and it helping to balance low/high speed corners. As both McL and Merc big step came with those new front wings. FIA installed extra cams on the front wings on Spa to see if they need to alter rules to counter it for this or next season.

Could make case for either Max, McLaren or Mercedes so just lets wait and see. Would be nice if Lewis (track front limited and Merc good at those tracks) can win and add this track to his "won on it" list. Ferrari fourth best again, unless they found something in the few weeks off, had the time to think things trough.
Cannot see any midfield teams bother those four
Weather changing right now, from very hot to a more normal summer, comes with lots of wind (Friday) and maybe some rain (Fri/Sat.), right now looks dry on Sunday (21C) as hotter temps are coming back next week. Would be shame as last years rain made it a extremely fun race.

Good to see they went with Jack as other options felt not better, other than the obvious experience.
Not sure how to rate him as he had moments in his Jr career were he looked really good but also were he was struggling a lot. Struggled in his last year in F2 up until the Summer break, after that he won/was competitive in most races. So good enough to be in F1, but no generational talent.
FP1: Rain and lot of wind at start, but rain stopped and with sun/wind track dried quickly. So from few wet laps, to inters to 10 min of slicks. Last few minutes lot of traffic, so not everyone did clean laps. Still looks like McL/Merc/Max battle.
After session they were draining Charles his car from all fluids/oils, so must be some issue (PU/Gearbox?)

Yeah, Gene and Mazepin have been in dispute since Uralkali was forced to be dropped as team sponsor (Ukr-war) and Mazepin wants some money back from Gene.

Long-run have not seen all data analysed and with Timing-app not showing the driver tracker, hard to see who is in traffic or not, but
Lando looked like in his own class, 3 tenths up on Max who was a little bit up on Lewis. But Oscar (on reds) was than down on George (also reds, flat spotted mediums) again, 2/3 tenths.
Ferrari today did not have the pace from the top 5 and after Charles issue between FP1 & FP2, Carlos his gearbox failed in FP2.
Behind that, Yuki and Alex had similar pace, one lap but also on the long-run (both on hards)
