RaceWeek: R8 in the streets of Monaco
First time high downforce packages, so hard to predict who can run their car best over bumps and curbs. But cannot see past the usual 3 suspects this year, McL/RBR/Fer unless someone pulls an Ocon like last year (Hulk/Yuki?). Hopefully Q session as exiting as last years Q3
Weather forecast looks dry, other than possible rain Saturday morning, but that would not affect F1 sessions. And Since last year F1 day 1 on Friday, support races Thursday.

Give full race points for the quali top 10 and then do a reverse grid with a similar point incentive.

By Punished Go To PostIf ever there was a race requiring a reverse grid.The one qualifying last would win the race, so who could go the slowest in Q without standing stil. Or impede a few cars so you collect massive grid penalty points. (I also did not think this through lol)

Maybe Bernie his sprinkler system should be added to the track barriers, so races here are always on wet track.
FP1:
- different tire usage, Fer/RBR no softs, Merc all 3 compounds
Ferrari onboard looked best to me and the McLaren drivers were also pretty happy. RBR was bouncing on front over bumps, looked bad, Max closer to the walls multiple times than he would have wanted in FP1. Mercedes OK on soft, drivers complaining about lack of bite on harder compounds (early on stints) . Did not see any laps from Fernando

Ferrari in Charles his hands looks miles better than anyone else, lap after lap so easy to find time, specially in slow speed (traction). Long run not, even Carlos looked faster but he had far better run already in FP1. Man to beat if the rest does not find a big big bag of lap-time
All others struggled to get any consistent laps going, Lewis final push lap was his first really good one, George struggling with steeringwheel (power steering issue??). Fernando hard to get consistent laps/sectors. Max &Sergio were bouncing so much that both need some paracetamol tonight, Sergio's helmet cam made me dizzy from just watching. McLaren was lacking bit of pace, but they most of the times look better on Saturday, did not see any real big problems, just bit off pace.
FP3 will show if people can fire up the reds in a single 1st push lap, as not enough time in Q to just keep doing push/slow/push and repeat as most did today.
Also don't think I have ever seen so many drivers hitting the barriers in a FP1/2 session at Monaco.

As always, qualifying in Q3 is different game as you have to put a lap together in first (maybe extra warm-up) or maximum second push lap as there are only 10 minutes for two runs, so maybe that changes things up a little.
