By Zabojnik Go To PostThe one thing AMD had over Nvidia.AMD still has that feature and also overclocking, undervolting, and power limiting exposed in the UI. Nvidia has some of that as part of the driver api, but just isn’t surfaced to the user. Great for Nvidia users, all the same!

RTX HDR looking good.
Only tried it with Prince Of Persia so far, but it feels on par with what you'd expect from AutoHDR, only it apparently works with every game.

As the og ultrawide enjoyer and long time OLED evangelist, I would like to remind you that LG's 42" screens work great for a mixed 4K / ultrawide use.
According to the latest rumors, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 will be significantly quicker than its current flagship gaming GPU, with a performance boost of up to 70% compared to the RTX 4090. Nvidia’s new gaming graphics card, based on the forthcoming Blackwell architecture, is expected to launch at the end of 2024, and many people are predicting that AMD won’t be releasing a high-end GPU to counter it.What are we looking at? $2k?

I lifted some keys and knocked some dust out of my laptop. Would that have caused the battery to swell? Because now the touchpad won't physically *click* down. I can still tap and gestures for all the functionality but the missing click makes click n grab annoying.

It is more likely to happen if you let the battery completely drain, keep it at near full charge, or expose it to heat.
It is a fire hazard, so get rid of it safely asap and get a new battery. It is prone to spontaneously immolate and you can't put that fire out with water or a fire extinguisher.
I don't even know if the battery is swollen. It closes fine, it's not off balance or anything. The touchpad just stopped being able to click and I saw a reddit post that thought it may be a swollen battery.

My internet provider upped the speed limit in some of their 5G plans from 450mbit to 1gbit right as I was finishing setting up the antennas for the outdoor 5G router, so I went in and revamped my mobile internet contract with them. I moved from 450mbit / 500gb per month (the latter is not a hard limit, speed just goes down significantly once you reach the data cap) to 1gbit / 1tb ... and I'm also paying less than before, so that's cool.
I'm very frequently bumping against the current 450mbit speed limit, even during the busiest hours, so I definitely expect I'll be pulling more than that once they finish setting things up on their side. Hopefully tomorrow. I don't know how much more I can realistically squeeze out of one 5G band (N7) and two 4G+ bands (B3 and B20, all at 20Mhz), but I'm eager to find out. Even if speeds stay the same, I still doubled my data, so ...
I'm gonna keep my shitty VDSL line for now. As amazing as this whole 5G home internet upgrade is turning out, I still don't trust it for online gaming.

This is my current one
AMD Ryzen 5 2600X (6-Core / 12-Thread, 3.6 GHz up to 4.2 GHz) CPU
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (6 GB GDDR6) GPU
AMD B450 Chipset
8 GB DDR4 3000 MHz Gaming Memory
Ok, yeah, that will be a massive upgrade in CPU, a modest upgrade in GPU, and going from too little RAM to not having to worry about how it.
If you ever want to upgrade, though, your options will be very limited. This might not be something worth worrying about for you, though.

I usually get about 5-7 years of good play with a computer before buying a new one. Are there any more signifgant prebuilts you know of? I'm not set on that particular one.

That 120mm liquid cooler will be handily outperformed in both performance and noise levels by a ~$30 cooler in the Peerless Assassin or, really, any other dual-tower air cooler.

Not sure if that build is worth the price premium, especially with the questionable parts that are likely included.
I'm not overly familiar with pre-builts, but my favorite pre-built company is Main Gear: https://maingear.com/new-ready-to-game/
They charge a premium but they use quality parts and have incredible customer service. A couple friends have gotten computers from them before and had great things to say about the CS when they had to use it to diagnose a potential issue with the hardware.

Most I'll do to a new pc is add some ram or change a graphics card down the road if it's struggling.

I play on 1440 and don't plan to go to 4k so I wonder if the TI is worth the 150 differenceThe 4060TI is between 15 and 20% faster in most titles. You can look at some of the results in this review: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/msi-geforce-rtx-4060-gaming-x/31.html
Up to you on if you think that is worth the increase in cost.
By data Go To Posthttps://maingear.com/product/mg-1-4060-ti-7600x/Yup, that is definitely better. The 7600x is a bit faster in gaming and the DDR5 RAM will definitely put it over the top. You will also have the flexibility of upgrading to an 8000 series AMD CPU where you would be stuck with a 14000 series Intel CPU in the Gold build.
This seems better, unless I'm missing something?
Bought. Thanks for the help.
Just gotta wait for it to ship. Not in a huge rush. Figure this will pair really well with my Deck.
