I guess the eventual 5080 Super (and Ti) will be what the 5080 is supposed to be. The Super will be priced as much as the 4080 was at launch, the Ti will match 4090's mrsp. 5090 will go for ... yeah. I'm thinking 1999$ / 2300€.
Nvidia left such a big gap for a reason. The grift continues.

Given the gap, I’d fully expect a 5080 Super, 5080Ti and 5080Ti Super. Maybe even a couple more squeezed in there too.
Ah, looks like I've run into another one of those 'basic version costs a dozen euros, the version I need costs hundreds' devices.
You can get a USB over ethernet adapter / extender for 15€, but as soon as you need one that works over LAN / through a switch, it's 500€+.
Sigh.

By Laboured Go To PostIt better be 1 x 16 pin.32GB?
Might as well buy a house with solar panels + Tesla powerwall to power a 5090. I mean it makes sense, right?
Holding strong with the 3080Ti. Though I will be looking for a replacement in the 200w range that hopefully performs better than it in the near future.

Is getting a 5090 at launch one of those 5% queue type deals or is it pretty easy

Doesn’t matter the price, it’s going to sell out and will be sold out for a while before stabilizing. If you’re trying to get one I’d be there day 1.
The 4090 turned out to be the new 1080 in terms of how good of a card and a jump it was over the 3000 series. 5090 probably won’t be like that, but it’ll still be gone.

Wooden, which board did you go with again? You happy with it? Any issues?
With 9800x3D apparently getting released in little over a month's time, I might spring into action sooner than expected, complete the new build in advance of the 5000 series. I think I'm ready to go back to ATX, get a roomy, well ventilated case and hang it under the desk, like I used to.

ASRock X670E Steel Legend ATX AM5 AMD X670.
There has been some trouble with usb ports. Or there IS trouble with some usb ports, and i cant figure out why. But other than that, it has been fine.

Ah, right.
Looks like the ASRock B650 Steel Legend WiFi is back in stock, so I might look at that, as it has anything I could possibly need at around 180€.

@Zabo you’re using Steam Families aren’t you? How do you have it set up to let people join that aren’t in the same house as you?
It's not that restrictive. It doesn't care as long as the invitees are from the same country. Maybe it has other checks alongside the IP, I'm not sure. Me and the boiz all from the same country, living in different cities, with different internet providers. No issues.
There's really no risk. It will tell you, if the person you're trying to invite isn't eligible. Super quick and painless to set up, unlike the old system.
Just be aware that if someone joins your family (or you join theirs), they'll have to wait a year, if they want to join another. A year from when they first joined your family, not a year from when they've left it, but still. Seems like Gaben & co. went out of their way to not be too gestapo about it.

I think they’ve changed some things for new groups since. I enabled it last night and tried inviting a mate who lives in the same town as me and he got an ineligibility message for not being in the same household/address.
That sucks. Maybe it's less restrictive for third EU world countries, we're too small for them to bother.
Oh well. I figure setting up a second account at my address, adding it to the group then giving him the log in for it will work out.
Best Windows about to become even better. I'm still gonna wait a couple of weeks, just in case MS fucked up something.

It would be pretty annoying having to switch accounts before playing the new game you've bought with your "family", unless you're somehow a new Steam user or if your library is so shit you don't care about starting anew. Still, the savings are real.
Only Intel's 18A can save us now. Hopefully the Almighty is subbed to Pat's twitter account and is pleased by the bible quotes choice.

Push/pull kit has two fans with slightly offset RPMs to improve acoustics. Noctua are the biggest nerds and I love them for it.
A great shame I have no use for them.
Got a 38 UW monitor at work. First time really using a UW. Very nice. Might have to get one for the setup at home 🤔
Think I’m gonna grab one at the end of the month.
In the meantime I ordered a Asus Azoth Extreme. I will report back on if it types my thoughts out for $500.
I am awaiting to see how Arrow Lake stacks up. Already got a AMD build ready to go if the 9000x3d chips hit this or next month 😩

I fixed the family sharing issue with Steam. Just logged into my mate’s account from my PC and accepted the invitation, worked straight away. No need for a dummy account.
Lian Li need to either start using their actual logo, which admittedly isn't very good, or just drop marking their cases entirely. Every time I start to get interested in one of their enclosures and that basic ass LIAN LI font logo shows up, all the excitement leaves my body. A bonafide turn-off.

Good guy Gaben. It's one of those things where they are probably of the belief that if you trust someone enough to give them the account information needed to basically ruin their account, you're close enough to be considered family.
What’s the goto SSD nowadays? I’ve got a single 2TB P41 in my system that I’m thinking of replacing or adding to once the holidays sales start hitting.
By Smokey Go To PostWhat’s the goto SSD nowadays? I’ve got a single 2TB P41 in my system that I’m thinking of replacing or adding to once the holidays sales start hitting.WD SN850X I think is still the best bang-for-buck performance drive for capacities up to 4TB.
If you have a MicroCenter near you, the Inland Performance Plus or Gaming Plus (same performance, just includes a heatsink, iirc) are good picks with easy return policies.
e: i use the Inland drives for both me and my partner's machines
FYI, the Samsung drives are not worth any kind of premium over other drives. They aren’t appreciably faster and Samsung recently increased their prices just because.
By Zabojnik Go To PostShould we be recommending Gen4 drives to a man who just bought a 500$ non-custom keyboard tho?He said the go-to SSD and Gen5 drives aren't go-to drives, yet! XD
