it didn't work for like a week and youtube threatened to ban me but it has been working again flawlessly since then.
but i might just give in and get youtube premium so i don't have to bother on mobile and on the tv.

Same. Ublock + Firefox works well.
The only thing that craps out often with Firefox are twitter embeds.

I'm already set for music, and I don't care about their original programming either, so YTP is half a wasted sub for simply no ads during regular browsing. I had three months of it before and literally don't think I noticed any substantial difference.
I’m not paying a subscription to watch 17 hour Dark Souls critiques without ads. That is not in my hierarchy of needs.
Had Premium for a couple of years, ever since ads became unbearable on the LG TV YouTube app and it's by far my favourite sub.
YT is basically all I watch outside of shows and movies, so not having to even think about ads is just so nice. YT Music is a great bonus as well, since I don't have or care for any other music subs.
I'd honestly have no problems paying 2x what I'm paying now, which is 8€. Can't imagine ever going back. #sponsored

Agreed Zabo. I don't even use YouTube Music and it's still worth it. I use YouTube way more than any other service and at this point it is basically cable TV for me.
How many more ads are there on the TV and console apps than in-browser? Feel like I get them twice as often, and they're three times as long until you can skip.
I couldn't tell you exactly. I was already kind of used to no ads when I was still watching YT mostly on PC, because of AdBlock. Now I do 90% of my YT consumption in the living room, it has completely replaced traditional TV channels for me.
At first the ads were bearable, but then I'd start getting two, then three long, oftentimes unskippable ones in like a 10min video and, yeah, fuck that. Ain't nobody got time.
I convinced a couple of YT afficionados in my circles to do the same and I still hear back how much it improved the experience for them. I realize I sound like a Google shill, but it's the one sub I'm genuinely happy to pay.
Also, premium bitrates is another nice extra.

It 100% improves the experience to go ad free and yet I will not fold. I will not let them win. I got a 57 second ad earlier in on the TV, I left the room and grabbed a drink. Improvise, adapt, overcome.

The PSU in my brother's computer blew up. Squeaky bum time over whether it took the rest of his PC with it.

Shouldn't have bought it anyway, it was an XPS from like 2003 that I bought in 2010 or so, it could barely run Mass Effect on low settings.
Good shout on uBlock lads, been faultless for me so far

not sure what happened, but it whatever it was tripped the fuse box.
I highly suggest putting any sensitive electronics that can be damaged with a surge or power outage to a sin wave UPS. Will prevent your pc from being damaged directly from surges or indirectly from a blackout or brownout during an update or something. Doesn’t need to be a massive battery, either. Just something large enough that will let you shut your system down.
And if you don't want to spend the extra on a UPS device then a good power strip with a surge protector is a must. Plugging directly into a wall is a no-no.

Bonus good buy if you need something to filter out noise for your music equipment.

By diehard Go To PostAm I in the rarity that has never had anything damaged by electricity from the wall?Possibly. I have lived in many areas that due to a combination of natural causes and/or local infrastructure periodically suffer from brownouts, blackouts, dirty power, and/or surges. Between myself and my mom, we have lost a plasma TV, a couple routers, radio, some chargers, and a couple other things that have slipped my mind.
All that work ... and then the HDR presentation is ruined by raised blacks and piss poor contrast. I swear devs are using TN monitors from 10 years ago to validate this stuff. Good thing it's something that's fixable with ReShade and SpecialK most of the time, but this shit is getting old fast.
Outlaws has made me question my monitor settings so often. A tonne of banding, raised blacks. Keep feeling like something has gone wrong
Also, Outlaws (alongside Alan Wake 2) really showing my underclock settings are not stable for games with heavy RT. Didn't really want to fuck around with the curve, but guess I need to
GPU stability testing is a bit of a bitch fr. Even for rasterisation, regular loads may seem fine at first until you play a game that does something a little different and you get sent straight to CTD city.
Furmarks, Heaven, Timespy, etc. are all unreliable tests of it too in my experience.

It's why I've absolutely given up trying to over/underclock my GPU. I can't be fucked with my games crashing out anymore.
Yeah, part of me can't be fucked, especially given it's hard to know what frequency or voltage the crash happened at.
I wish Afterburner could set per-app curves

i gave up cpu undervolting for similar reasons. =/
i'm good with setting power limits and getting ram set to xmp speeds but that's about the extent of the hardware tinkering i'm willing to deal with.

I too gave up gpu undervolting going from the 3080 to the 4080, but it's purely because of laziness.
And because of how quiet / low temp'd the card is out of the box. Vishnu bless oversized coolers.

I’m frankly disgusted with all of you. Undervolting is what separates us from the console bois, and you willingly forgo that pleasure? Disgraceful

Yeah, it's been so long since I set my undervolt that I don't even remember the process to getting it right.

I cheated back in the day with the 2080Ti.
MSI Afterburner had/has an auto-OC option, so I ran that and used the volt/freq curve it gave me as a baseline. Just levelled out the curve from 1800mhz onwards. That was rock solid stable.
The 3080Ti, I cheated another way. I just capped it at 80% power. Couldn’t be arsed faffing with clock stretching and stability testing.
I have my i7 slightly undervolted. -15mv offset. Again, couldn’t be arsed with faffing so I went with something that should be stable.

Due to the way energy government subsidies work here, my bill would triple or more if I ran anything more power hungry than a 4080.
By inky Go To PostDue to the way energy government subsidies work here, my bill would triple or more if I ran anything more power hungry than a 4080.Like they cover a certain allotment, then anything after that is charged?
(Also, I think the tweet might have been deleted)
By diehard Go To PostLike they cover a certain allotment, then anything after that is charged? The price per KWh is different depending on total usage for the period. Like up to 100KWh it's one price, up to 200 another, etc. It's on a curve. Past a certain range there is no subsidy i.e. price just goes "actual cost", hence triple or more. You have something of a grace period so it only kicks up after 2 consecutive bills over the line.

Yeah it had to be corrected because the power targets are EVEN HIGHER THAN IN THE ORIGNAL TWEET!
My air conditioner has been serviced and is working wonderfully, bring on 600W cards.
Also, I started hearing a very slight but noticeable whooshing/rattling sound coming from the PC in the past two days. Need to investigate ... after I finish Wukong. Sound like it could be one of the EK AIO's Vardar (I think that's what they're called) fans.
What would be the go to 140mm fans to pair with an AIO's radiator these days? Arctic P14? Have Noctua finally updated their 140mm fans?

Yes but currently they’ve only released the model for their heatsink which has a cut down housing and 120mm fan mounts. So not suitable for a radiator.
