avoid anything razer.
anyway, how does this look?
yeah yeah wait until the next gen x3d. i am not sure i can bother. got a msi 3090 x trio or something iirc, that i will fuck in there too
i was going to get the ASRock X670E Taichi lite, but for whatever reason it's like 50% more expensive than anything else

It looks pretty good, imo. If you want to save some money...
Consider different SSDs. You won't really notice the performance difference between the Pros and a slower, cheaper drive.
Could probably save some money with a different case. Check out the Torrent as it's the best air cooling case right now.
1000W is overkill. You can get away with 750W. Also, I think the RMe line has fan noise issues? RMx should be fine.
As far as the motherboard, just pick the cheapest one that has all the features and connections you want. B650 like you picked is completely fine.

Did you just click on motherboards -> Asus and picked the first one from the listi? :) It's a perfectly fine B650 board, but there are better ones out there in terms of price to features, like the ASRock B650 Steel Legend Wifi, which has PCI 5.0 for the gpu, more USB2 and 3 ports, better VRMs, etc. and is cheaper too. Only comes in white tho, iirc. It's basically a B650E motherboard in everything but the name.
1000W is overkill for whatever gpu you're going to pair with the 7800X3D in the future, but I'd still recommend 850W at the minimum.
Can vouch for that cooler, it's amazing for the price.

i got frustrated about the shit availability here and just clicked on that in anger, cause i really wanted ASRock X670E Taichi lite... but that is like 3x the money of the asus for some reason. not a big fan of asus if anything, so i will take that other asrock into consideration.

what ssd brands? wasnt a 4tb ssd from samsung that wasnt 4tb other than the pro, which isnt that expensive either. I need a lot of space. i know it has no connection, cause... different tech obviously. but i have ptsd from a western digital sd card.
will consider torrent case but... i just really like how the north looks
RMx over RM is a good call. had no idea.
i am not really actively trying to save money. but i am not buying a 4090 or whatever before the 50 series
By diehard Go To PostI was just going to recommend the WD_Black SN850X as cheaper alternative hehyeah, same. lol

also, if you like a case, you like case. no biggie. just wanted to make sure you could make a more informed decision.

theyre like 15 euros off from the samsung ones here. nee bosh
Didn't do that. Assumed it would be pretty bad or just not there for Denmark. Run it all through pricerunner which is the best here for that kind of stuff.
Edit: surprisingly it works just fine. That makes things easier. But yeah ssd is not big savings. Not sure how to link to regional prices. Does this work?

Peerless Assassin is just fucking fantastic. Included fans aren't bad at all, but you can always upgrade to Noctuas, et al. I think there's even a new model that's fully black coated.
Still can't believe I only paid ~$40 to replace a $150 Corsair AIO that was noisy as hell.

Well here's the updated list

Also torrent cases are about the same price as north xl. Actually a bit more expensive.

Do you need the XL? The base version is already quite roomy. 355mm vs. 413mm for gpu clearance, but seeing how the vast majority of 4090s are shorter than 355mm, it shouldn't be an issue going forward.
Also, in no way is the X670E Steel Legend worth almost 1000kr more than the B650 Steel Legend Wifi, but it's up to you.

Idk. I have like 10 thumbs, I just like to have a lot of space to not fuck anything up too badly
Anyway the ASRock might actually be too ugly. Why does it look like that.

Obviously you're getting the charcoal black version of the XL with the mesh panel. Does it even matter how any of the components looks?
It's like the yearly colonoscopy I have. It's just not a nice sight, even if I don't see the insides often.
But yeah I kind of want to be able to run at least three, or better four m2 drives at once. I. Need my storage.

I believe I wrote about HID Remapper in the past, a dongle + software you can make with a Raspberry Pi Pico or by buying (and flashing) a pre-made board like the Adafuit Feather. It can do all manner of things related to manipulating inputs from USB keyboards, mice and joypads, such as timed macros, keyboard layout changes, map mouse buttons to keyboard inputs, rotate/flip mouse axes and much, much more.
I use it to (re)map the keys of my wireless numpad to shortcuts, which then trigger different actions/scripts via my Home Assistant server. Stuff like turning on and off smart bulbs, powering my LG C2 (or just its screen) on and off without a remote and so on.
What's great about it is that it's all done in hardware on the dongle. Press enter on the numpad, the operating system sees it as ctrl + alt + f5, 'lol intel' or whatever you define that key to output via the web configuration tool. No software needed in Windows / Linux.
https://github.com/jfedor2/hid-remapper
Anyway, it also allows you to add SOCD, Razer's and Wooting's much talked about "cheating" functionality, to any keyboard. For about 20$€.

I'm gonna get me another one specifically to try out SOCD, see if I can actually feel the difference while strafing in Apex.

40% power savings at slightly faster speeds than previous gen is nice for people who need that kind of thing.
But, yeah, I just assume the X3D chips will always beat the next generation in gaming. It’s happened twice now. So, until the normal parts start getting excessive amounts of cache, I think that will always be the case.

More like Zen 5% amirite.
The power savings are nice, 9800X3D will reign supreme, but as far as generational improvements go ... big disappoint.

Time to bring back Jim Keller.
I had a feeling Zen 5 would be meh and would've much preferred to wait for Zen 6 X3D, but that's 2.5 years away and ain't nobody got time.
I will say though, seeing how basically all my gaming is done at 4k ultra, where the limiting factor is and will continue to be the gpu, the most sensible upgrade / sidegrade for me is still 5800X3D. Much as I thought it would make a difference, I really have no need for the 12-core 5900X.

Hold firm, Smokey. Intel will surely take back the throne with 15th gen.
I actually do think that Arrow Lake will take it back just for the X3D chips to come out right after
I dunno, I can’t really call it a win if Intel launch another line up of 250w CPUs that just about beat AMD’s current X3D chips that don’t even break 100w.
Was acceptable in the past when Intel was the clear leader in performance, but guzzled power as a consequence. You at least got notably more performance. Now you can have top tier performance and low power consumption, if you can stomach buying AMD.
I’m talking gaming performance obviously. I don’t care about how quickly either can rip through a video render or crunch excel data or whatever.

£584 to get a 7800X3D, ASRock B650 ITX board and 32GB of DDR5.
I wonder how much I could sell my i7 12700, Gigabyte B660i and 32GB of Trident Z Royal DDR4 🤔

Just got round to fitting the Noctua NA-FD1. Which is a fancy name for a foam fan duct.
Normally you’re supposed to use 4 thumbscrews to attach the fan to a L9i/L9a heatsink, then slide 4 plastic tubes over the screw heads. Slide the foam layers over the tubes and trim them back.
My Thermalright cooler doesn’t use screws for the fan though. It uses clips. Bit of creative cutting with some scissors allowed me to post the tubes through the fan’s mounting holes, then slide the foam over the tubes as normal.
Total duct is 18mm. I went 1mm over what the total clearance so the side panel adds a little bit of compression and keeps it secure.

I’m completely out the loop with the SFX PSU market. There’s a lot of options nowadays though, compared to years back where you went with a SF600/SF750 or settled for something just plain worse.
Asus, Coolermaster and Corsair all seem to have good options now. Depending on what wattage you want and if you want a SFX or SFX-L unit.
I’d probably go with the Corsair SF1000. I haven’t seen reviews for it, but I can’t imagine it’s a bad buy. It also has a zero RPM function up to 400w.
