Some thoughts on the Fractal Design Ridge:
+ The included 140mm fans seems quite good. Acceptable noise level from them.
+ Very forgiving for cable management. A lot of room around the PSU to tuck cables as well as Iām the GPU compartment. I have every connected to my PSU, including SATA and Molex daisy chained cables. They all tucked in nicely.
- Fairly easily to build in but I dislike the amount of disassembly required to start building. 4 of the 5 panels all need to be unscrewed, the bracket that supports the GPU also needs to be unscrewed and removed, as does the PSU bracket.
- Side panels are very wobbly. A far cry from the higher tier aluminium SFF cases
- itās kind of an awkward size. Too tall to stand vertically underneath a TV, but also too wide and thick to fit in most TV units without cutting off airflow.
Two other thoughts. They really shouldāve flipped the GPU to be intaking from the same side as the CPU/PSU. Also the case feet shouldāve attached to the opposite side case panel. That wouldāve made for unrestricted airflow from the top panel and allow the GPU to exhaust through the bottom panel. I do have a spare riser cable and GPU bracket that I might make fit to flip the GPU and turn the dual 140s into exhaust. I reckon that would improve temps. As it is though, the temps are acceptable.

Also my Steam download speeds are slow. Well 500mbps instead of 800-900mbps. Iām not sure why.
My steam deck gets 600mbps over WIFI. My PC, which is plugged straight into the main router seems to be capped. SSD write speed holding it back maybe? I need to look into it more tomorrow.

I doubt it's the SSD, unless there's something wrong with it. It shouldn't have trouble sustaining writes at ~100mb/sec.

Aye, switched from UK Manchester to UK London. No change. Tried both of my SSDs too. Both Samsung but one is SATA (860 Evo) and the other is NVMe (970 Evo PCIE 3.0).
Edit: Made sure I donāt have a bandwidth cap on too.
Can't think of anything that isn't the usual clear download cache, flush dns, maybe try disabling realtime protection in Windows.
By Zabojnik Go To PostCan't think of anything that isn't the usual clear download cache, flush dns, maybe try disabling realtime protection in Windows.Havenāt tried any of those so Iāll see if they help.
By reilo Go To PostAre you using your ISP's default DNS configuration? You can try OpenDNS or Google.I am. I tried switching DNS settings on the Series X from default to Googleās, OpenDNS and I think a Cloudflare DNS. It didnāt effect my download speeds.
Iāll give it another go though.
Also just to throw it out there, the ethernet cable Iām using is rated for 1000mbps. It was connected to the Series X and would generally reach 840-900mbps. Just not always sustained at those speeds because Microsoft are dicks.
The Steam downloads peak at 620mbps briefly but generally sustain at 500-540mbps from what Iāve seen so far.
Under ideal conditions, 2.4 GHz WiFi will support up to 450 Mbps or 600 Mbps, while 5 GHz Wi-Fi will support up to 1300 Mbps. But be careful! The maximum speed dependent on what wireless standard a router supports ā 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, or 802.11ac..
By reilo Go To PostIs this over WiFi? WiFi top-end speeds tend to be limited to around 600mbps.
Nope, using a cable.

EDIT: I actually just checked my Steam download speeds for the first time and was able to get 113mb/sec (~900mbps), Croatia download region.

Speedtest come back full speed.
Download speeds seem off through the apps Iāve checked so far. Ubisoft Connect and Steam both. Though weirdly better today than yesterday, around 650mbps.
I also tried Epic Games store, and to the surprise of probably no one it was giving me dogshit speeds of 100mbps.
Itās a possibility.
Iāve always gotten full speed downloads from Steam in the past, but my internet topped out at around 65mbps back then. Iāve still got some steps to try out to see if I can improve things. If not, Iām giving my ISP shit until they sort my speed out and give me another Ā£20 off my bill.

I fixed my download speeds.
Itās a Windows 10/11 bug apparently. Had to run some lines of bullshit I donāt fully understand through command prompt, but itās fixed and Iām now getting full speed downloads

Copy and paste these one line at a time and press enter after each one.
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew.
netsh int ip reset (Don't restart yet.)
netsh winsock reset
netsh interface tep show global
netsh interface tep set global autotuning=normal
Basically a DNS flush.
Did you check if autotuning was set to anything other than normal before applying these commands? I'd be very weird if it wasn't.

Also no I did not, I just followed the instructions from a random YT comment verbatim and hoped for the best.
Well, anyway, glad you solved it.
I air compressor'd the Meshlicious for the first time in like a year (disconnecting the hdmi cable is a pain in the ass, have to remove the gpu etc), tons of dust came off the AIO rad especially ... no noticeable temperature improvement. Glad I bothered.

Set a modest UV on my i7 12700, -0.1. Already had power limits in place of 65w PL1 and 95w PL2 already because I am not playing with Intelās bullshit 200w infinite PL2.
Temps are seemingly pretty reasonable so far. Dunno if i mentioned it but I bought a Thermalright full copper AXP90x53. Couldnāt fit a Noctua L12S/L12GE. Or Big Shurikan 3. Couldnāt find out of an AXP120x67 would fit or not. So going with a 53mm tall cooler was a compromise.
Next on the list, buy or make a fan duct for the CPU cooler.
Buy some new case feet and flip the case over.

That looks like a decent chunk of copper. What temps are you getting?
Let me know if you need anything printed, btw. Seeing quite a few mods on Printables and the like.

As someone who will edit forum posts days after they've been posted and long read by anyone interested, I completely understand.
Itās a very sizeable chunk of copper. 540g without the fan. Temps have been averaging in the 70s, few spikes into the 80s on certain cores. While the 3080Ti is kicking out 300w+ of heat. Havenāt done much testing yet to verify temps in more worst case scenarios though, or if the UV is stable. Kinda hoping the latter is modest enough to not throw up any issues.
My only complaint is the mounting hardware is pretty bunk. As you can see in the first image, the stand offs donāt make contact with the motherboard so you just have to feel out the mounting pressure and eyeball how much each nut is threaded on.
I was thinking of asking you for a couple prints. Iāve seen some clips for the Noctua NH-FD1 fan duct kit to make it fit cleanly. Iām also thinking of just using some tape though because the internals will never see the light of day outside of an annual cleaning.

I'm currently trying to burn the house down with a laser engraver, so my printer is at your disposal.
Alright, ran some extended Cinebench R23 to get a proper idea for the CPU temps with the AXP90x53.
Averages 68 after several multicore loops. Peaks of 81c.
Bearing in mind I do have the TDP capped to 65w, and the case is in itās worst configuration for CPU temps (stock horizontal).
I donāt think thatās too bad though. Definitely comfortable with it. Still gonna add a duct and flip the the case with some aftermarket feet to improve things though. Pretty surprising that Fractal went with such a poorly thought out layout for having it horizontal.
Maybe an inch between the case vents and the surface itās laying on. CPU and PSU are both intaking from the same side that the GPU exhausts from so the former recirculate warm air from the latter. Weird decision making in their design team.
Nevertheless, I knew all this before buying the case. It was just the best option on the market for me since I wanted a console style case.

This is cool, in a Zabo tinkering kind of way. It needs some form of cooling, but that kind of performance in that small of a package is crazy: https://radxa.com/products/x/x4/

By Kibner Go To PostIf it ain't throttling and you are good with the fan noise, then thermals are perfect, imo.
Brother, fans can never be too quiet.
Alright, played Sifu for a bit and checked temps afterwards. High 70s, low 80s on the CPU.
Honestly pretty impressed with this block of copper. My last foray into low height CPU coolers was pretty disappointing with an Noctua L9a on a Ryzen 1600. Though in fairness, things were okay with a Silverstone AR11 on a 9600K. I had to ditch it back when I went to a 9900K though.
Noise levels too are very good. Noticeably quieter than a Series X.

Made a quick and ugly fan duct out of the packing foam that came with the cooler. Moved the feet placement so they no longer block the CPU side of the case.
Down to a peak of 72c while playing Helldivers 2. Average of 68c.

Also does anybody know how to add multiple global profiles to RTSS? I want to implement multiple frame limits that I can switch between via hotkeys.
So far I have one set in NVCP for 120fps and a global 60fps cap on RTSS that I can toggle on/off. Ideally Iād like a 40 and 30 cap too.

i don't, sorry :(
maybe a batch file that closes rtss and relaunches it with some arguments that set the cap you want and then an auto-hotkey script that launches the batch file you want with whatever key combination you want?

Turned out to be far simpler. Thereās some default options in the hotkey plug-in settings that allow me to set a decrease FPS by X amount.
So I have a NVCP cap set at 117fps.
60FPS toggle on the = key.
Decrease FPS by 20 on Shift+ 4
Decrease FPS by 30 on Shift+ 3
Reset to 60FPS on Shift+ =
Works pretty well.

Last few steps on console-ifying my PC:
Setting up Wake on LAN so I donāt need to get up and press the power button.
Setting up moonlight/sunshine for streaming to my Deck.
Find a suitable console style UI launcher.
Probably gonna stick with Steam Big Picture mode for the UI. I tried out Playnite and really didnāt jive with it. Not aware of any other alternatives.
