By data Go To PostTitle thread on pointI hate this series. Day one.
By C4-621 Go To PostEhhhhhhhhhh
The trailer made my ears bleed I'm not posting it
AND Ronin.
Horrible times
By Hentai Samurai Go To PostDY's revenge tour continuesLocalization on this game is big horrible tho 😒
wow
By DY_nasty Go To PostWhat makes the localization bad?The liberties they take. They turn simple ass phrases like "help me" in Japanese into Soul Caliber loading screen purple prose. "Although the final chapter has not been written, lend us your strength against there demon fangs"
Come on😂
lmao
sounds FF VIII levels of bad, poor squall ended up being the whatever kid from what I've seen on YT

By Hentai Samurai Go To PostlmaoThe only complaint I had about UO is that plot is basically "are u a bad enuf dude to liberate the world?"

Like in the demo - that's *all*. The rest is essentially dead space, flavor text, and navigating to the next fight. I'm thinking entire context got lost as if some VA self inserted their narrative or something.
Japanese RPGs get extra purple prose treatment often. I don't know if the companies ask for it or not but apparently in UO they were giving dudes catch phrases and quirks that they never had in the original text 🤷🏾♂️
I understand cultural references changes and so forth but some of these characters seem like different personalities altogether after localization lmao
By Hentai Samurai Go To PostI understand cultural references changes and so forth but some of these characters seem like different personalities altogether after localization lmaoExactly. Just some folks trying to inject themselves into the creative process
im not even sure if you're talking the same game then because it never came up in the demo at least
there wasn't even enough dialogue for a catch phrase to stick out. if anything characters would mention a group or territory one time and you'd have no way of knowing if it was relevant until you suddenly found yourself in that region - trying to decide if someone was worth sparing or not

A friend on the localization team I worked with last spring brought it to my attention. People going ham online about it.
some of the things are bad but many super change the tone of the game and characters and that's not the localizers job.

in the left, there is no tone though - and in the earlier parts of the game, names and relationships would be legit question-marks altogether. for example, the majority of the demo those characters interact at most 3-4 times. after that she's kidnapped and not seen again until the end of the demo lol. no one playing can even guess at the relationship at all. that's what i mean by a lack of dialogue. in some of these interactions, there's nothing there to start with.
that sequence at the top is basically the first time you even see the mc after he's fully grown. i get localization being inserts of personality at times, but there is *zero* personality/character/diction otherwise. you can't tell if he's ditched the nobility altogether or if he was raised in a cave otherwise.
"*noun*...."
"tell me more, *stare*"
i can't be mad at that fr
and that last line straight up clips a conversation to paint the localization-bad picture.
if there was some internal back and forth over it, i guess. but if its that the case then there was essentially no character beyond the art and portrait

Localization isn't the creator of the content. Right or wrong, the creator wrote the character a certain way so why would you make say something opposite of what he said?

There are tons of examples that I didn't because it's not exactly incorrect translations but it's certainly shit that wasn't in the original.
By DY_nasty Go To Postwasn't a bad choice then because they damn near shipped an empty game if that's the caseI don't know... I kinda prefer how it is written in Japanese 🤷🏾♂️
By barber Go To PostIs porn localised?I am sure you can find some
By C4-621 Go To PostBack in high school someone offered me a hentai game and I said noWas it Cobra Mission? That shit was in circulation for a good 10-15 years around these parts.
Was that a crossroads moment? I wonder how my life would be rn
What if I never meet Fasicmo and Zabo
Would SMT be a Persona spin off to me ?
The hell is with that DD2 preview
Im not even sure if I can finish Rebirth in the next 2 weeks, now there's also DD2, Ronin in the horizon.
At least I can leave Unicorn Overlord until winter.

By Smokey Go To PostdefaultPretty much lol
• The world is completely interconnected with no loading screens, and dense with content with lots of flexibility and freedom.
• Pawns have really good AI and feel alive.
• No quest markers above NPC heads. Exploration feels organic.
• Armor system has been simplified from DD1 to allow for more fashion.
• Itsuno says the game will be more challenging than the first game.
• Body size doesn't affect what areas you can access anymore. But it still affects your movement and stats like HP and encumbrance.
• 10 vocations at launch.
• Each vocation has four shortcut abilities accessible by holding L1.
• Minor differences in interactions based on what race you pick (human or beastren).
• You can customize your look later but not your race.
• Endgame content will be available at launch; more details to come.
• Some side quests are time-limited like in DD1. If an NPC dies before you get there, he's gone.
• You can recruit randomly generated pawns in the world or connect to the internet to recruit pawns made by other players.
• No swimming or mounts in the preview. Fast travel costs resources, or you can take an oxcart on preset paths.
• Stamina is unlimited outside of combat.
• Day and night system returns. Night is pitch black without a light source, with stronger enemies.
• Minibosses like griffins can pop up randomly and chase you. Griffins seem to be more common now.
And there it is. 16 May release date. By Nixxes.

Yeah I'll definitely be grabbing it. Interests me more than Horizon FW.
I played some when I got my PS5 and was enjoying it. Felt like Assassin's Creed but actually good / fun.

I played GoT a bit when I tried out the PS+ Premium for a hot second and liked the early chapters a lot.
